Didnt the previous MSI cards (600M/700M/800M) have SLI bridge?

    Yay, it's happening!!! :D

Can't wait... though I think I must; simply to see what form factors become available. GT72 looks great but a slimmer, more portable machine would be a perfect match for me. Doesn't have to be Razer Blade grade thinness, it'd just be nice to have a more 'average' sized notebook this time around! Also, not keen on the way the GT72/G751 prominently display that they are designed for gaming on the logos - I'd like my gaming machine more subtle in it's gaming prowess so that attention is not drawn when at the uni library! I know I'll be hankering after full GM204 when the GTX 1080M is inevitably released next summer... but the allure of Maxwell is just too tempting to resist for that length of time!

I notice GPU-Z in the image detects 32 ROPS and 128 TMUs... I'm guessing this is just because it has not been updated to support GM204 yet? Or has NVIDIA done some techno-switcheroo with ROP/TMU config compared to desktop GM204 chips?

The next version will probably have the 1600 shaders then.
And didn't the desktop 750Ti report as 960 shaders for a while? Any chance this is a mistake on GPU-z's part? It doesn't really matter to me, I'm just curious since I thought the 1600 were confirmed? (Wont matter if I get the Aorus X7 v3 anyway :D)

970M is still stronger than 880m and produce less heat so who cares what gpu z says :p we already got the benchmarks leaked
The real question is 192bit 970 vs 256bit 980 will it make an impact specially if you wanna use the new 4k downsampling feature

You might want to look at one of those new Clevos, the P650xx series. Also, the GPU-Z card info matches exactly that of a 780M/880M except the clock speeds. I am both suspicious and unimpressed.

No, we have already seen tons of benchmarks from it. Those are of course still standing and puts it 50-70% above GTX 880M.

But since its a 1536 core GPU, it means that if Nvidia release a full GM204 next year, it will maybe be 30% faster than GTX 980M.

Cant help but wonder if Nvidia is holding back because AMD sucks in mobile so this the result of lack of competition...
Device ID match completely with the information from the leaked driver. If its a fake one, its a good fake.

I GUARANTEE you that this is what was done with the 680 series. They'd never before released a flagship GPU with only the midrange architecture before, but the 680 was all that was needed to trounce (at the time) AMD's dealings... while running cooler and pulling less power with better driver support. Of course as many people pointed out to me later on, AMD got a lot better, but they had been out for months already and didn't show signs of improving, so nVidia slapped a premium on their midrange chips and called that george.

It's the same reason I'm unimpressed with the maxwell release. Someone with a titan black has no need to upgrade, whereas someone with a 580 had a reason to upgrade to a 680. They should have released with GM200 but of course that might not even be out for another year and a half if AMD doesn't bring it. AMD launched their original lineup before nVidia did and nVidia launched their new lineup before AMD did. AMD's either slacking or doing some serious work, and I hope it's the latter.

Sli depends on the driver/developer/game by game you will never get 9x% boost cross all games.

Woah so we have leaked specs now!

It is very interesting, becase we can compare core for core, 780m vs 980m, Same 1536 cores, but massive performance increase.

So the 980M is a very slightly cut down 970 (1 less SMM than 970). Given that 970's TDP is 148W, I just can't see the 980M having a TDP of anything less than 100W.

In fact, I hope to God nVidia won't pull another 880M stunt and have the 980M be a 120W card.

Will be extremely interesting to see the heat output of the chip, but I think it might run cooler than GTX 680M, atleast not worse.
The chip is going inside slim Clevo and Asus machines, and it will come in a soldered versions, so I do have my hopes :)

Titanfall, BF4 (a bit server dependent, but it does scale well in optimum conditions), Black Ops 2, Sleeping Dogs, Trine 2, Crysis 2, Serious Sam 3 BFE, Dark Souls 2 (sort of... I never get 99% scaling because the game doesn't USE that much, but single-GPU is usually 90% or above for 60fps and SLI I get 40-50% on each card all the time; I consider that a 2x boost), Deus Ex HR Director's Cut, Sniper Elite V2, Just Cause 2, BF3 SINGLE PLAYER (not MP), TES Skyrim (if I don't lock FPS it goes near 95% or so and I get like 150fps with a bunch of 2k & 4k textures; I quickly learned to lock the FPS XD), Batman Arkham City, Batman Arkham Origins, The Witcher 2...

I usually see 90%+ USAGE on each card (with my overlay I see in real-time) on all of these games. I can't say whether it actually DOUBLES my FPS or not... but it does benefit using SLI greatly.

The 980M will be available mid october starting in ASUS laptops.
For your 570Wm I can't answer exactly because I'm not sure, it should work but you'll have to wait you're never sure maybe a new mxm interface, maybe a bios restriction (you can expect anything) , ask prema for that kind of info in the due time, he's the clevo bios king here ^^

SLI scaling on mobile is always great *when it works* because laptops are usually much more GPU-limited (as opposed to CPU-limited) than desktops. Short of the titles that flat-out don't support SLI, I have never had less than 90% scaling with an unlocked frame rate.

Remember, the key to great scaling is to remove all CPU bottlenecks and make the game as GPU-bound as possible. That's why you hardly ever see multiple high-end desktop cards scale perfectly at 1080p as it's simply too easy for them. But 2.5K/4K with extreme levels of MSAA/SSAA allows them to really stretch their legs and that's where you get nearly linear performance increases as you add more GPU's.

It is expected there will initially be 3 versions, a 860m, 970m, and 980m. The 980m may be thicker I don't think anyone (that is not stuck behind an NDA) knows for sure. There will be a 15" 551 as well, it does not look particularly impressive so far though, but information is still scarce.

The msi GT72 dominator will be getting the 980m and there seems to be talk of there being a version with an extreme CPU...can't recall specifics.

Clevo will also be releasing a small notebook.

Gigabyte Aorus x7 v3 will have 970m SLI and its looking to be very mobile...focusing on being a thin, light 17 incher

From the internet: Smile everybody!

I was once on a US military ship, having breakfast in the wardroom (officers lounge) when the Operations Officer (OPS) walks in. This guy was the definition of NOT a morning person; he's still half asleep, bleary eyed... basically a zombie with a bagel. He sits down across from me to eat his bagel and is just barely conscious. My back is to the outboard side of the ship, and the morning sun is blazing in one of the portholes putting a big bright- circle of light right on his barely conscious face. He's squinting and chewing and basically just remembering how to be alive for today. It's painful to watch.

But then zombie-OPS stops chewing, slowly picks up the phone, and dials the bridge. In his well-known I'm-still-totally-asleep voice, he says "heeeey. It's OPS. Could you... shift our barpat... yeah, one six five. Thanks." And puts the phone down. And then he just sits there. Squinting. Waiting.

And then, ever so slowly, I realize that that big blazing spot of sun has begun to slide off the zombie's face and onto the wall behind him. After a moment it clears his face and he blinks slowly a few times and the brilliant beauty of what I've just witnessed begins to overwhelm me. By ordering the bridge to adjust the ship's back-and-forth patrol by about 15 degrees, he's changed our course just enough to reposition the sun off of his face. He's literally just redirected thousands of tons of steel and hundreds of people so that he could get the sun out of his eyes while he eats his bagel. I am in awe.

He slowly picks up his bagel and for a moment I'm terrified at the thought that his own genius may escape him, that he may never appreciate the epic brilliance of his laziness (since he's not going to wake up for another hour). But between his next bites he pauses, looks at me, and gives me the faintest, sly grin, before returning to gnaw slowly on his zombie bagel.

What about them? I'm going to work out whatever solution I can to get these horrible cards replaced under warranty with new cards. They have documentation I have been having nothing but problems with them and already said they will be able to work something out with me, I'm just not expecting it to be a totally free solution. If they do it for free I'll obviously be extremely happy but I'm anticipating some sort of part cost.

Question for you: if you could choose between 970M SLI for free or pay to upgrade to 980M SLI, which would you go for?
