So, has anyone pre-ordered one of these MSI systems with the 980M yet? I remember someone posting (a few pages back) a link to one.
-
Gtx 970m tomorrow ?
With a new laptop?
From Asus?
15.6 inch?
For less than 1400$?
Nah... It was a dream guys... Sorry
Only a 980m overpriced will be announced
-
will the gtx 970m be released simultaneously with the gtx 980m or it is gonna be delayed ?
-
Both has the same release date.
-
Really? So 880M was supposed to be 20nm? That would have made a lot more sense.
So it looks like we will see info very soon.
And Cloudfire, it wasn't a free upgrade. It was back a few pages. MSI is apparently going to let people pay to upgrade their GT72 to 980M, a first for them.

No! That's not at all what I said...
-
Here is hoping there will be 970m on GE70..been wanting to buy GE70 for a while but waiting for the 970m
-
Then I'm losing something in translation somewhere. What did you mean by some of these on-board GPU systems were marked GTX880M until nVidias 20nm failed and Maxwell was pulled into this year?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk -
Same onboard GPU Notebooks where already planned with the 880M before a 2014 28nm GM204 even existed. Point being nvidia has a growing interest in offering onboard design options to their partners, just like Intel. And that this is not for technological reasons like growing TDP efficiency.

Okay that is clear as crystal, thanks for the explanation.
It doesn't surprise me at all that they would push for onboard solutions with how long MXM machines can be viable for.
Lucky, lucky, lucky!

Just like the guy that showed the bios page with 2 980m s.

He says he busy and can't talk but you know he's just watching this thread to see what are reply is lol.

I stumbled upon this link in amazon, is it new or was it there before today?Cakefish likes this. -
I searched for the 980M yesterday and nothing popped up. So, that was added recently.
Looks like tomorrow they're hitting the shelves, so to speak.Hellmanjk likes this. -
Wow, 2300... Yikes!

How much was the 880m version?
-
I have no idea, probably the same, I just find MSI way overpriced.
No specs or anything

Pretty sure that's referring to the extreme edition with a 980m and a i7-4980HQ with 32 gb of ram
-
Agreed. I just assumed that was the same or around same price of old model. Much respect for your ownership of a fine clevo model. I am hoping to get the np9377 with dual 980ms. My max literal amount of money is around $2800-3K. Depends on work. I would prefer to stay under $2600. Anything over $3K its not worth it for me but I would be really surprised should that arise for a clevo. No it says 4710HQ.
EDIT: Oops I said I wanted 880ms. I meant 980ms in my clevo.Ethrem likes this. -
Searching Google for dominator pro-208
When you click the links, the machine disappears except for the PC connection link.

I paid a lot more than I should have for mine. It was 4700 but I also got two SSDs, the 120hz screen, added a second storage drive, upgraded to a Blu-ray burner, and bought the pricy MX chip out of stupidity plus I paid for xotic extras and I bought a second PSU for it.
I could have probably knocked 2k off the price.

From the reviews from HT and forum members as well as my own research clevo/sager is not only a respectable brand but the most competitive from a price point. You may have poured an extra amount into it but I think, regardless, you saved alot. Getting those extra feautures add up to so much more on like MSI or Alienware for example. And imo it doesn't look like a bad laptop. I also prefer hardware and cooling to thinness and floodlights. Clevo is a good brand. And if I can get a np9377 with dual 980ms for under $2600 when it comes out I will be prompt to give a good recommendation.
-
How do clevos stand up against the big brands Alienware etc?
-
The Alienware I was looking at was going to be 5800 because they force you to do the stupid quad play SSD or its just a small cache drive so yes, I saved a mint.
My machine isn't perfect though. Once I get 980M cards, I'll have Johnksss help me tune the CPU again I'll be golden.
I would think a base 9377 would come in right around 2600 with 880s.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk -
Alienware is like nVidia while Clevo is like AMD.
OMG I'VE BEEN DYING TO SAY THAT FOR SO LONG NOW I FINALLY GOT TO USE THAT IN A LEGITIMATE CONTEXT AWESOME

Only from an aesthetic point. They all offer the exact same hardware.
Before sale I could configure one with dual 880s to $2380.00 or $2400 I cannot remember. With sale it was a little less. I corrected my previous post though. I didn't mean to say I wanted 880ms but 980ms.
I only configured with 8gb ram and dvd player. I dont need bluray as I do not even use discs anymore. I might just get the caddy. All I need are the gpus and then later on buy a ssd. Already own 3 copies of windows 7. -
http://www.avadirect.com/Clevo-P377...MD-Radeon-R9-M290X-Graphics/Configure/8459642
Configurator only gives the option of 860M
I found HID Evolution has not updated their site. 2549 is the base price for a P377SM-A with dual 880M, I would expect it to more or less be the same with the 980M.

Well I going to bed. Looks like from recent posts this is happening soon. Hopefully we will know all tomorrow. Good night.
-
I disagree in terms of the keyboard.
-
So then alienware is obviously better :hi2:
-
Incorrect; Alienware MUST sell you certain things (like OSes) and there is FAR less choice options for them. Their warranty and support however are usually a lot better and in-home next business day support is un-beatable... AND it's worldwide. If they had 120Hz screens and I could avoid getting 4 x SSDs or a 1TB 5400RPM HDD as an option for storage (because sourcing single parts is very difficult for me here) I would probably think they were peerless.
That being said, since Clevo is lacking 120Hz/3D models and probably going the integrated way, it might lessen the gap of choice between them. *sigh*. I wish one manufacturer would get everything, even at a bit inflated price like AW does. -
wow, stand corrected on the model for that MSI but then I'm confused since I found this
Buy MSI GT72 Dominator Pro-098 Core i7-4980HQ 32GB 1TB 17.3" Notebooks GT72 Dominator Pro-098 today at GovConnection
which is only ~$3300 and is a better model -

Seems new clevo ultra thins are coming out immediately I was wrong those are the P not W versions -
I live in Brazil and my brother lives in the USA, he is traveling down here this thursday, I bought a gt60 with a 880m for him to bring me, and a few days later I found out about the 980m, you can imagine my frustration...
My only hope is that amazon will start selling the new models tomorrow so I'll ship it to him overnight. Do you guys know how the previous launches happened? Did it take days after the product appeared? Or did they start shipping the day after? -
they will be available immediately on launch this time. HOWEVER they will likely be sold out and you are unlikely to be able to get one overnight.
-
You should maybe let him return it and if he can't get them in time keep an eye on Avell for the new cards to show up locally:

Those aren't exactly new...LostCoast707 and Ningyo like this. -
I was the first guy on this thread to spot the product listed on Amazon.com and immediately pre ordered it, if it does come out tomorrow I think I might get one...
-
LOL. What? $3300 for a single-GPU system and an integrated CPU? What, is the 1TB four 256GB SSDs? What?
You got a GT60 with a 880M, I am sorry for you in any situation. I hope your brother could return that and buy a new model like... tomorrow (wednesday) for you XD. -
Oops was thinking they were the new p650(or is it p651) and p670
-
Shrug...the site doesn't exactly have specs listed....
But I did just find this:
http://www.amazon.com/MSI-GT72-Domi...12654434&sr=1-2-catcorr&keywords=msi+gt72+980
and
Amazon.com: GT72 DOMINATOR PRO-208 GEFORCE GTX980M: Electronics
The specs are listed on both. They seem to be justifying a ~$1100 difference due to 32 gb ram vs 16 gb ram and 512 gb SSD with super raid 3 vs 128 gb SSD
..........What the hell?Cloudfire likes this. -
These cards must run crazy cool with the way the fan tables appear to be changed unless the new fan tables are bugged.
Can't wait to see what Striker has to say. -
Some not-yet-seen MSI models with 900 series Maxwells just appeared:

People will pay it though.
My curiosity... if its 4xM.2 do the machines that only have one have the ability to be upgraded? Because you can get 120GB M500s for 75 bucks. -
Sad, but true and the sadder part is that I was really looking forward to the MSI extreme edition. I need a new laptop yesterday and while I'm prepared to pay a bit more for the extra CPU power of the 4980HQ and more for speedy shipping (was actually considering ordering the thing as soon as it hit sales on Amazon or Best Buy tomorrow simply so I can get it sooner instead of XoticPC/Gentech)....I can't rationalize justifying their desire to artificially inflate their prices with ram no one will use and throwing in so many pricey SSDs
Hell, if anything it might force me to wait for the refresh of Alienware since I know I can get a discount there or even just go for a Sager Np9377-S from xotic build at nearly the same price point
......And even as I type that, I don't know if I have the patience to wait much longer which means I might really just pay their king's ransom out of desperation to get away from my current machine
