I have lost countless hours into FO3. While the game itself along with the DLC set up a brilliant world to explore, the user-made mods truly make the game. If you can find the GotY edition for $30 or less, I'd say jump on it (so long as you foresee time to spare in your future).
The crazy deals last for 24 hrs, cycling with the counter/timer. The other deals are until Jan 3rd.
As a sidenote, would anyone consider Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic a game still worth getting for someone who hasn't played it or its sequel? And why is said sequel not available on Steam?
I'm also waiting for Mass Effect to go on sale as I've heard that to be an essential action RPG.

STEAM is getting hammered. Seems like all the traffic slowed STEAM downloads to a crawl till today afternoon when GTA IV finally started downloading for me at reasonable speeds.
-
I was getting 125kB/s for EQ2 2 days ago. I usually download at my full speed on Steam (~3.2mBps). I just bought Spellforce 2 gold edition for $14.99. Good deal? I'm only downloading in January because I've got only 6GBs of bandwidth left for the month.

I had a 7.5mbps connection with a 20GB down and 10GB up. $7.95/GB overdraft, but was capped at $30 per month. When they raised to $50, we switched to 10mbps @100GB combined. Now we are on the 30mbps @70GB/month for the same price, and we got owned since almost no server can upload 30mbps to a single user. It is nice to download 3 files at once at 1 MB/S each without crippling to connection to the other users at home though.
I live in a "lined-up houses" complex and the phone demarc is in the central house, so there is a long circuit of phone cable, thus DSL sucks. My line is only capable of 3mbps. DSL is a bit cheaper, but still is capped @ 60GB/combined, and P2P is blocked @120KB/s. -
Several times over the past six hours I've gotten error messages basically saying "Steam servers are currently being swamped by a massive load of purchases. Please try your download later." About an hour ago, my downloads finally started, though at an average of 600 kbps (I'm on a 9 Mbps connection). On the plus side, I've had the luck to never have a bandwidth cap, though this may change as I've currently got Time Warner. -
Does Steam game require Product Activation?

it took me all day yesterday to dl the 45 or so games i bought. half of them didnt even start downloading for quite a while.
anyone know if theres a link that shows what kind of numbers they've done the last few days. it would be interesting to say the least. -
I dunno for everyone else, but the deals were a gateway purchase - because I decided to have a browse after buying the immediately popular deal. -
this is so i dont have to wait a couple of hours to download the game in steam.
is this possible? -
T minus 2 hours! So far I've done OK, keeping it below $50 total. We'll see what happens after the new round of deals.
I still haven't pulled the trigger on the UT set but I just might do it before Jan 3.. -

Last minute impulse purchase. King's Bounty - Girl edition.
-
I'm hoping for a deal on Dead Space....
-
Just got the prince of persia pack for $22, I'm still beating myself over missing the GTA 4 sale.
-
I wasn't able to get it during the thanksgiving sale. -
Bah... I paid $9.99 for Torchlight! Now its $4.99
Grab this if you don't have it. -
Senor Mortgage Notebook Evangelist
Stupid Steam. Torchlight is a hyper stupid mega super deal right now. Still worth 9.99 though.
-
torchlight 75% off. i feel bummed, bought it at half off.
i'm getting very greedy. -
I WANT TO STAB SOMETHING. TIME TO PLAY MORE TORCHLIGHT! -
Thinking about Prototype. Is it worth $20?

Steam is doing an amazing job selling games, having bought 4 games in the past 48 hours. If steam had decent competition, imagine how cheap pc gaming would get, disregarding hardware yadayada lol
still...id like red faction guerrilla work, damn game is tarts up buggy with performance and os issues, not to mention games for windows live patch update malarky ...yay.... -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
UGH!! I completely forgot to pick up Red Faction last night.......NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, and i dont even like any of the deals today.....well that sucks. -

and Shannon said infinite bandwidth was only possible in theory
-
Well...I ended up picking up IL-2 for $4.99. That should end up being a lot of fun over winter break. I was also going to get KOTOR off of steam, but I ended up going to Goodwill the other day and I found a hard copy of it for only $5. You can find some cool deals there sometimes.

Wonder if mw2 would go on sale?
-
That's what I am waiting for too. 50% off would be nice.

^^lol, dont count on it. If it is really selling as well as the sales chart is indicating i dont think its gonna happen.

i love modern games like batman, dow2, dragon age and empire total war. but id have to say that my best purchase in steam has got to be audiosurf at 2.49!
so fun and addicting.
highly recommended for anyone who loves music -

As a side note, I STILL love WWII Fighters! Play it on my netbook all the time, an absolute blast to play still to this day.
EDIT: Also, received a Gamestop gift card for Christmas, so picked up a copy of Call of Duty MW2 for PC today, and it was on sale for $49.99. Didn't even know it, wasn't marked, but rang up with a $10 PROMO at the register. Not sure for how long, but was nice to not pay the full $59.99, which is why I hadn't purchased it already. Also, I can't help but think as mentioned before that the retail discs that are registered are helping the game to stay at the top of the sales charts... after I registered my retail code, it gave me a "sales receipt" after I installed and it was linked to my Steam account. -
Just got Lumines because it looks cool, has anyone played it?
-
I had lumines for my PSP (1 and 2) and loved them both.
-
Just bought the THQ complete pack. So many things to install...

this round of steam sales was pretty disappointing for me...
but... i can't complain really, my wallet is happy. -
Wonder if better sales will be after holidays?
-
I passed on Prototype because GTA IV and Mirror's Edge are good enough for the single player aspect of me right now, though I do wish that Dragon Age was on sale for a bit cheaper. 25% off is still sort of pricey for a broke college kid.
Hour and a half until the new deals, hopefully Dead Space comes up -
The problem I have with some of these package deals is that I own several out of the package, and you can't get duplicates to gift to someone else. I wish you could, but then it makes less financial sense to get it.
-
What are other good games?
Something with good SP and big MP too?
Dont wanna start a thread about this. -
hang on a minute, i think steam is pulling a fast one here.

Get ready for another Steam sale
