Get ready for another Steam sale

Anyone know what the cheapest price for The World of Goo has ever been?

 

The developer had a "name your own price" deal not too long ago, but it wasn't steam; was their own site I believe.

I paid $5 for it right before that sale, but I think that's a good price.

 

i think thats the marketing ploy- get it while it still lasts.
forces us to buy and not wait out the next set of deals

 

But it wasn't a "set of deals" though. It was their holiday price, not the daily deal.

 

yeah i guess their ploy extends there too. if you see what you want better get it , or else...
kinda sucks
but kinda effective in a ways ( for them)

 

meh I dont call it a ploy, it's a sale, just like any other business out there with sales.. bought some good games on the cheap!

only game I'm regretting so far is Serious Sam HD for $10..

 

It wasn't already complete, far from it. On release and to this day it suffers from low content (few maps, few weapons, few characters) and innumerable bugs and imbalances that could be fixed with even half as much attention they give to TF2. Yes we can criticize them because they sold us an unfinished game on a promise, asking us to trust them, and then they never delivered; it's a sad day indeed when a once-cherished gaming company takes a page from dirty politics.

Anyways, on with the sale: Mass Effect @ $5, worth it? or overrated?

Mass Effect I feel is worth it at $5. I picked it up and it is a big name title a couple years ago. Looks great on my laptop on highs. Solid game if you like action/rpg games as I originally got it on 360 and played about 10 hours worth.

 

Trials is actually fun too. It's kind of like a puzzle game. You have to drive your bike through the obstacle course. Pretty fun and worth $2.49 IMHO.

I paid $30 for Trine when it came out and was happy with it, great game for $5

looks like they took the painkiller pack off of the front page deals...just search for painkiller and you'll see its listed for $8.74 for the complete pack

 

That's right man. 1 more day. 1 more chance at getting FO3. If this happens then it will be 3 out of 4 for me. Not too bad. If it doesn't, then 2 out of 4. (Doom 3 pack, Crysis pack)

 

No, it's still there. I may get Trine though just for the heck of it.

I have PainKiller Black already at Gog.com. It's ok, and the expansions got much worse scores than the original.

Maybe tomorrow will just be crazy deals and bring back everything for their lowest prices. LOL.

Losing hope for that FO3 though. The damn thing has stayed on the top 10 even at that price throughout the sales period. Why would they knock down the price?

those damn suckers got me with RA3 for $10.

 

Its worth $10; my only issue is I can't zoom out any further, feels way too close. And it's missing a few classic tank/infantry from the previous titles.

i'm gonna love it. i expect it to be flawed. it's $10. $10 is worth red alert nostalgia.

Got a quick question please. When Steam says the holiday sales end tomorrow (1/3/10), does that mean its completely over, or will there be a new set of sales tomorrow and really be completely over on the 4th? I really need to know.

ive always been totally against steam and more of a direct2drive kinda guy. I like to manage my own software. However,... Steam prices are too good right now for me to pass up. when push comes to shove Ill take my money where I get the best deal. Sorry direct2drive. I will be back when steam goes back to thier regular prices.

 

It says through January 3rd so I'm assuming one more set of sales tomorrow (Sunday) and over on the 4th.

 

Anyone play Trine? I played the demo and thought it was ok, wondering if its worth it to get the full game.

 

I have Trine downloading right now. all of the deal games are downloading super slow. I grabbed red alert also and its downloading at like 65kbs.

Trine is so cheap i figured wth.

D2D is essentially Steam Offline-mode with fewer updates, less support, less content, and slower content delivery; you're better off sticking with Steam!

 

anyone kno whawt would be good settings for trine on a dv5t?(9600m gt, 2.4 core 2 duo, 3 gb ram)

im having trouble getting it to run at a smooth fps

 

They had a brief price error and I got the GoTY for $17.50 a week ago.

 

I caved in and bought Audiosurf for $2.50 (down from $10). Very fun game.

blah, played the Trine demo and liked it too much to pass up for $5.. whyyy I already have a big backlog of fantasy based rpg type games =D

steam is so slow right now. im getting 200KB on the witcher special edition and 45KB - 0 KB on red alert. I downloaded might and magic (the old version) not the dark messiah crap and even that was 400KB.

direct2drive i get 800KB- 1mb

so faster downloads on steam is a lie. the cake is a lie. and damnit there is no pie.

Is GTA 4 really that good? I was never a huge fan of the series. Is there any difference that makes it a must play?

 

If you didnt like the others, dont bother with this one. I however find it great, but because of all the mighty bugs it is unplayable for me (too much stutter)

I realize though that you can get 6 of the 7 games for $25 total, minus Left 4 Dead 2 of course. For $25 that's an awesome bargain. I already own Stalker but will probably buy it, heck for $2 it would almost cost that much to back up my DVD.


Anyone play Ghostbusters? I love the movies, but don't know how well the game will translate.
