Necro or mesmer for me. I like my GuildWars experience despite those Legendary Survivor title i wanted to get on every of my characters i was playing. I got sick of that. lol
-
Asura warrior for me I think but I'm not gonna main any class or race until I can try them. Hopefully I'll get into a Beta so I can be ready to go with one character at launch

I'm resurrecting this just as a heads up that the press beta is officially over and there is footage of the beta available for those interested. So here is a video of a dungeon in Ascalon:
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/L5bbBUFqZ9A?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/L5bbBUFqZ9A?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width='640' height="360"></object>
Here are a few articles on the beta:

Regarding the specs, there seem to be some conflicting info, but it looks like the game will be a bit of a resource hog on higher settings. Some people reported low fps problems with SLI setups for one. What i don't like is that not every press member listed their specs other than saying they had lagg on powerful PCs which in itself doesn't mean that much without specs, does it?
Comment from a GW2Guru staff member who got into the press beta:
Some more encouraging reports on settings: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/4765725#4765725
Looks like those of you running GTX580ms should do just fine

This is a really weird feeling.
The game looks amazing! But for some reason, I have no interest in it.
I played MMOs since EQ-Kunark days, then switched over to WoW at its launch. Stopped playing WoW about a month into Cataclysm ...
As much as I loved the MMO gameplay, I think I'm permanently burnt out. -
Game looks amazing...can't wait. Hopefully they'll have it better optimized by release so I can run it on high settings; preparation for GW2 is the reason I got this laptop.
-
Wait, there was a beta for this?
-
Super closed beta last weekend.
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Theres supposed to be a larger beta open for the press and some public starting next month.
-
Really excited, but I just can't shake the feeling that it might be a bit too chaotic with all the spells and stuff flying around. GW1 was nowhere near this and that was the good thing about it.
-
There was indeed a lot going on in the videos, but it still looks manageable.
Regarding the beta, there was a closed beta earlier, this was the second one with invite only press members. I get the feeling Anet is slowly increasing the beta population and demographic to work the kinks out of the game. -
Haven't been posting in a while, decided to hit up the GW2 thread

Want to know about all the Closed Beta Coverage? Check out this link and the Guild Wars 2 subreddit!
Other than Closed Beta talk, check out this tweet that brings a hint of good news.
This surprise could be any of these:
-Open Beta Date
-Release Date
-Collectors Edition
-Something else that's awesome
I'm not going to get my hopes up for a release/open beta date, but I know it's going to be good.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -

I wish I had gotten into the press closed beta
I am still really looking forward to this, going to drop all games but Starcraft 2 when this comes out.
Also as little as I know about reddit I figured out the url you meant to post.

Oops, fixed xD
As much as I am a redditor, I fail at sharing reddit URLs

Thanks for the heads up!
I get a error when going to the page, though. Am I going to the right website?
EDIT: Never mind, works now. Thanks again. -
I don't think it'll be too bad, I mean you can only have about ~10 skills at any given time which is nothing compared to games like WOW or EQ2 that have 20+.
-
Just recieved a rather pleasant email from NCSoft:
EDIT: Vicious beat me to it.
Apparently he recieved the email two hours before me.

Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Count me in on this! Except my desktop is still dead so I can't submit my PC Hardware stats and I can't rebuild it till the end of the week.
...
PS: Actually, if I can borrow my friend's rig, it is possible... Let me call up a friend of mine with a 7970 hehehehehe... -
But having a powerful rig doesn't increase your chances, right? I actually did turn on my desktop just to submit the HW specs (even though I've just pulled out 4GB of RAM) since that's the computer I'll be using the most. I always have been curious about what they're looking for when you're submitting specs. I suppose they just want variety.
-

Having uber rig is not always good. This is testing and they often want to see how well the game runs on low end machines just as much if not more so than high end ones.
If I was not in such a hurry to get in I should have turned on eyefinity for 6004x1200 resolution that would have had me stand out
-
AWYEAH, got a Guild Wars 2 email too. :3
-
Good luck everybody! Signed up as well and keeping my fingers crossed!
-
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Well right now I am on my ThinkPad, which has an Intel X3100. I rather take my chances on signing up with a rig than with this. Basically, I just need to sign up with a computer that can play the game in an obvious capacity.
-
Looks like that application just doesn't want to detect the dedicated GPU in case you have Optimus.
-
Yeah, I noticed that as well. On top of that it only submits the space of your primary storage device.
-
Just signed up due to being at work, let's see how it goes. Hopefully, i'll get in and be able to report back some specs and performance info, i'll definitely test it on my G73.
-
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Well I applied on my friend's uber rig so let's see if I got in or not. Hopefully I do.
-
My favorite part of the Beta sign up process is the Scannertron 5000, that is the greatest name ever.
-
I seriously went what the hell is this the first time i saw it
-
Applied with my series seven chronos. The scanertron didn't pick up the dedicated ATI GPU bot hopefully I still get in. So stoked for this game.
-
If they're not aware of the problem already they should get the picture when tons of laptops pop up with Intel graphics. How many gamers play on those?
-
They posted on Twitter about it:
If you have more than one HD or graphics card, Scannertron IS indeed sending us the info. It's only displaying one field. ~RB
I don't follow twitter but info from ArenaNet: Beta Sign-Ups Now Open! - Guild Wars 2 Guru Forums -
The Guild Wars 2 site now has some info about pre-ordering the game. Apparently pre-orders will be available on April 10th.
By pre-ordering the game you get access to all of the Beta weekend events, 3 days of headstart access and a Hero's Band which,
There are 3 versions of the game listed on the site, the standard Digital Edition, the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Collector's edition which come with a bunch of art and a 10" Charr figure. As for prices, the site lists the Collector's edition with a MSRP of $149.99, the other two versions don't seem to have prices on the site but I've heard that the will be $59.99 for the Standard edition and $79.99 for the Digital Deluxe edition. -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Darn that price! That is very expensive!
I thought ME 3 N7 Collector's Edition was pricey and look what I ended up with...
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
yeah CE is uber expensive, still trying to decide if its worth it for me.
Id like more prestigious things that stick with you in game that have lasting value. Similar to how in SC2 the most valuable thing for me is my CE avatar not all the art books and stuff that sit in the closet.
But SC2 CE was not that expensive and had the UBER cool Jim Raynor usb dogtag w/ SC1 on it
I am just not feeling the GW2 CE very much. The soundtrack is probably what I want most and I am sure that can be purchased on its own quite easily. -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Not really. Jeremy Soule's method of distribution takes forever. Like my Skyrim Soundtrack took a month to ship out and he doesn't use iTunes (he has his own little store).
With that said, I am eyeing on the Deluxe Edition (hopefully in a boxed, retail form) that has everything but the figurine and the full-size figurine at $79.99. However, I may end up suckering up for the CE like I know I am tempted to.
With that said, I just hope the game itself won't suck out like Mass Effect 3 did. -
I am going to go digital deluxe straight from anet. That way there is no way i wont get into the betas and ill get the income items. No room and money for the ce stuff at college

Didn't dig ME3 eh? I had a complaint today from somebody I know that said the game was too short and the ending was like....
I have not finished the first 2 yet so I was in no rush. -
In case people can't be bothered to check the site, here are the current minimum specs:
This looks like good news. Anyone with a half decent dGPU should be able to run it at something playable, the game might not look too good on minimum, but hey if the HD3000 manages to push decent fps at 1366x768 in PvE it'll make a lot of people happy.
The CE is insanely expensive, but i'll probably end up getting it anyways. I got the charr plush already so might as well go the extra miles for the CE and the soundtrack interests me.
EDIT: Bad news for people with 64GB SSDs wanting to install the game on their SSDs... -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Well there are other not so legal ways to get the soundtrack for me and I am sure Jeremy Soule will release a more complete soundtrack though his own distribution channels. Everything else isn't really necessary for me to justify twice the price for a copy of the game.
I might end up getting the Digital Deluxe. I just hope this $80 is more worth it than the $80 I'd spent on ME 3 lol. -
To be fair, i enjoyed most of ME3, some other partm we all know which one, not so much.
Given the amount of time i put into GW, even the CE for GW2 would give me a good $/hour ratio if i play it half as much as the first game. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Bah who needs Windows? We will just have to find a way to boot directly into GW2...
-
ya that's kinda ridiculous. Started with SW:ToR selling their collector's editions for $150 and looks like GW2 will follow. Has WoW ever been that pricey? I thought their collector's editions were always pretty reasonable.
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
The one excuse I can make myself for GW2 collectors edition is the fact its free to play.
That $15 or so monthly fee will easily make up for and then over time exceed the cost of playing another game. I feel that could be reason in part for its higher cost as they cant subsidize t he upfront cost of the game with monthly fees. -
Regarding the game size, does anyone know if Guild Wars 2 uses Guild Wars system of downloading maps the first time you enter them? That'd make it somewhat easier to fit on a SSD, provided you only stay in certain zones.
-
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
I am still thinking between Digital Deluxe or Collector's. I am pulling out my pre-order from Gamestop and pre-ordering directly from ANet though. -
Not certain, but i do hope they keep the same .dat format for the game files as the first game. You could just copy that folder from computer to computer after downloading the client. Made backing up the game files or installing it on another computer insanely easy.
-
Interesting, I was not aware that they did this in GW1.
-
From what i saw of the beta, it's likely they'll use the same system, the beta was mostly a .dat file, there is a screenshot of the beta files lying around somewhere on the internet. For GW1, you had 3 files, the .exe, the .bat and a .tmp file i think.
-
Yeah, the beta has the same .dat system as the first. I'm just curious if, like GW1, it will build up as you explore more and more of the game.
