Probably, but if anet includes the good old command lines GW1 style, we'll have a few nice tweaks. For example, if you modify the GW shortcut to be like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\GUILD WARS\Gw.exe" - image, you'll be able to download the game files in one go so no downloading areas where you haven't been yet the first them you visit them, remove the -image to be able to play the game once it's done downloading.

The -perf, -email and -password command lines are my favorites. -perf displays your FPS at the top of the screen and -email + -password enabled you to auto login into your account when launching the game which is perfect if you're the only person using your computer.

I hope we still get the -perf command line that way we'll be able to gauge performance without using any third party programs.

i didn't play GW1, but heard good things about it's PvP system. i checked out some of the character skills videos the other night and the game looks very promising. when is this dang game coming out? i need a good MMO in my life, preferably with an awesome PvP system that isn't totally item based.

I disagree GW2 looks totally different than GW1 in just about every way other than the fact its the same universe and its a MMO.

I was not into GW1 much but GW2 is my #1 most looked forward game of the year.

From what i understand reading this from the GW2 FAQ it means that i need the European game to play from Europe but it doesent mention if i can play with players from outside Europe.

    If thats not possible then im not sure if i will preorder or even purchase Guild Wars 2. D;

I pre-purchased it already and my handle on the GW2 community is Star Forge. Also note that you DON'T need a NCSoft Master Account to link your GW1 Account to GW2. However, you won't be allowed to change your GW1 e-mail for login, but you can change your e-mail for everything else like notifications or client install etc.

Just curious will you be running it on your Eee pc :D so jealous you get ION over in the US in the UK they stuff us with a GMA :( so I had to get an M11x instead.

I really want to get on this Guild Wars 2 as well been needing a new MMO since WoW days and WoT is just a reason to pass the time, but if it is Europe to US servers I dunno if I can go through the whole making a new guild of friends thing after the last ''Guild War'' in WoW was pretty brutal. Hopefully not :(

Oh heck no, I'll be using my desktop for it. ION graphics is only used as a last resort for me :)

I've been playing Guild Wars 1 since release (still play it from time to time to this day; it's such a wonderful feeling to be able to log in after a few months and not have to worry about spending $14.99 for a month of play) so I'm very excited to lose myself in fantasy land all over again.

Looking very foward to playing this game. I really enjoyed the skill-based PvP in GW1 as opposed to the more endless-gear-grinds that other MMOs seem to be advocating.

I hope they use a better network code though, GW1 has terrible rubberbanding issues leading to a significant disadvantage when connecting from overseas.

Hmm I need more info on the region thing, I know more players that plan to play with me from over seas than from my own country lol.

But its worded pretty clearly that it only is locked to where you play from not who you play with.

But i highly doubt i will go for the digital deluxe edition, way to expensive compared to what you get other than supporting a good company.

Once the 2nd beta is announced, I will plan with the others to start a NBR Guild Wars 2 Guild Thread to start making things official.

Also the Wolf Summon and the Rytlock Minipet are the only two significant things that Digital Deluxe can make a difference to you. The Rytlock minipet can be acquired from someone 2nd-hand in-game with gold (I am sure there will be players that will be selling Rytlock for a good amount of starting gold) and if you care about a Wolf Summon. Otherwise pre-purchase the Standard Edition if you want to save 20 dollars, pounds or euros for you don't care about minipets of a Summon and you will still get the good Hero's Band and beta access.

I am pretty sure I want digital deluxe, but I really wonder how much those items will matter past say 8 hours into the game.

The one time use items are worthless so its all down to the wolf summon if it scales in any way to high level, and the pet if you enjoy having it or if so many people have it that its pointless.

GreenManGaming has a 10% off coupon for GW2 right now.

    BRING-ALLUR-GUILD

I also as a member have a referral link I can give you that will give you like $5.00 credit or something to your next purchase if you want to ask me for it.

I would order from them right now but figures IRL chimed in with an emergency, x's car broke down and I had to pay to get it out of the shop for her. If I said no she would have no way to work or to get the kids to school, and I was really on a strict budget so I have to hold off on GW2 for now. I just hope I can get it before the first beta event as I have media coverage I want to do on it.

I've been monitoring the game for a while now and it looks like ordering from GMG would be the best deal (I already have $10 credit in there). Do I get the additional $5 credit before or after buying the game? Also these credits can be used as stipends for the actual money paid in an order right?

Edit: looks like whoever refers to who else gets the additional $5 off from the referral if they hadn't bought the game yet.

Anyone who's preordered the game. Could you please give some info about the weekend beta event.
Is the beta event every weekend or has it not started yet?
And does anyone know how many hours the servers are up for during this time?

If I can get to play the beta next weekend, I'll go ahead and pre-purchase it already. If not I guess I'll wait a while longer.

Couldn't resist and caved. Got the game for $43 from GMG with some the additional savings from some credits I had earlier.

Is it normal to get $10 credits from buying a game on GMG? I was a bit surprised at first after the purchase that I still had the $10 in the credits but apparently the previous credits were indeed used up in the purchase.

It is most likely going to be on the weekend of the 27th. Guild Wars 1 is having its 7th anniversary on the 27th.

A few of us that has pre-ordered and also are in the NBR Guild for GW 2 are planning on doing a streaming session for the weekend of the beta. Since Vicious has not ordered this game, I have been planning on doing a stream with anyone who is interested for the beta weekend to play a few hours of the game and then using Vicious's YouTube channel to distribute it.

Hi guys, like most of you I have been waiting for this game for along time !! Just wanted to get basically an idea of who is buying what, i.e. normal deluxe collectors. Either a show of hands or a poll would be good. Going to but it next weekend just want to know what the masses are doing.

    Cheers

I don't think it's worth getting the deluxe unless you REALLY wanna support the devs... the bonus items are mostly consumable and don't quite justify the extra cost.

The CE is real nice with lots of goodies, but is a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Just voted, got the digital deluxe, but not because i didn't want the collectors, but because i couldn't get my hands on one thanks to some major screw up on EB Game's part. Of all the people i played GW with, only 1 managed to nab a collector's in Québec. Apparently, EB only had 3 available per store and for some reason (easter weekend is what they told me) the pre-order wasn't available on the 10th. Yeah right! Oh and before someone asks, EB Games were the only one carrying the CE in Canada so i had no other alternatives and i'm not gonna import one either, it is already expensive enough as it is.
