I fixed it. It was caused by video drivers. I was using Amd's official driver for my laptop. Reverted to 12.7 beta and I'm getting. 45-60 fps![]()

Yes, look at all the dead here. I screwed up myself and didn't notice the red circle. A couple seconds in one of those, and you are done for. I think I rez'd over 10 people, and was rez'd a couple times myself. To get to this boss, it was a 30 min escort quest and several elites, then this super elite boss fight took a good 10 minutes.

Nice! What level is this zone? I just had my first dungeon experience today (ascolon i think) and we had a good run until we reached the one area with two bosses (guy & girl). Didn't end well... lolLast edited by a moderator: May 12, 2015 -
Yeah you gotta split the two bosses as far apart as possible (throwing boulders at them is a good way of taunting/stunning them).
I did a few battleground (non-WvWvW) pvp matches yesterday. You get to choose your armor, weapons, trait points all the way up to lvl 80 and all skills unlocked. Man there were good players in there! I totally wasn't prepared and I realized how little I actually know about my class. If you think you do well in WvWvW you have to go try some of the 8v8 games, way more challenging. -
i've been doing 5v5 tourney PvP's the last few days with my guild and it's pretty dang fun. we won a whole match (3 rounds) last night.
it's good to know i'm a beast at PvP'ing in this MMO as well.
consistent double digit kills every round. when it comes to MMO's...u put a bow in my hand and call it a day.
-
Yeah, if you don't split Relena and Vasar (GW1 memories
) they are brutal, Kasha, Nente and Adelbern are jokes compared to those two together.
-
is CM working for u guys? i tried to run it a few days ago and was not able to get in. it seemed like everyone, outside of CM, wasn't able to get in either. i've yet to try it, but have heard good things about it.

There has been a lot of bugged events lately for Baka ._. Escort quests that doesn't move, boss fights that doesn't spawn bosses and stuff. There's a norn area where the waypoint's contested from an event that doesn't summon the boss so it's pretty much forever contested til it's fixed >.>
Baka is not pleased. -
yeah, i've noticed alot of weird stuff with the last update. hopefully they fix it because i don't like fighting a big boss for 20 mins and then get no loot.
i mad 4 Baka. -
Yes, i noticed some events seemed to be stuck at certain points as well lately. Events that were working fine in the beta. CM is a joke really, i pretty much breezed through it with a team of 4 instead of 5. The first boss was the only challenge. I still need to do the other dungeons though and get into PvP too if i find the time.
Last time i checked, cross server grouping wasn't enabled and i supposed it still isn't, i want to be able to play with my friends on the other side of the pond too.

Baka tried out Ascalonian Catacombs today ._.
Baka died lots -
Baka needs a helping hand

So I've tried every profession to decide what kit I like most, and its Hunter, followed closely by Elementalist. I have an Engi at lvl 14, but I don't like the kit at all.
Can't wait until I hit at least 70 with the hunter. Game is fun but I dislike the fact there are no mounts. I really dislike that.

It is kind of frustrating to only have one speed.
What I liked in WoW was that you had running speed for short distances and combat and ground mount speed for crossing distances. I would like to see ground mounts and leave the waypoints for crossing huge distances. -

How does guild wars 2 work? I'm a little reluctant to play an MMO again because I don't want to have to revolve my life around a raiding schedule and I also want to be able to be top tier. Can you accomplish this with GW2 without the flaws mentioned above?
-
Yes. There are no raids in the sense that you're thinking. You can have the best gear and legendary weapons without committing X number of hours a week to the game.
-
You mean Ranger.
And mounts would be fine as long as they are more similar to mounts in Skyrim. That is no insta-summons mounts like those of lesser games. -
got my ranger to 80. the experience bar keeps going, turned over a few times, so would be 83 lol. Lot's to explore as my map is under 50% yet, and I've been all over it seems.
Tried my thief again, and it seemed like something was missing. I guess only a limited action bar when used to using the whole spec can do that. I was dying at level 8 on my storyline. Threw everything at mob, all the friendly npcs were dead by the time I barely lived through killing one, and then they'd gank me. Pretty pathetic since I was at level. May have to gear him up, or come back after a few world events as hearts were all done. -
Skyrim style mounts would make no sense in an MMO.
-
i miss having a mount as well. one of the things i liked to do in MMO's was to collect nice/rare mounts.
just don't allow mounts in PvP scenarios. -
You have more than 1 speed. In combat speed and out of combat speed are not the same. You run pretty fast out of combat.
I dont care about mount since im a enginer with perma swiftness
-
It may not be the same but it is not significantly faster.
-
I don't miss the ground mounts. You can usually run through a group of elites and live if you keep moving. My biggest gripe is the mobs shed onto an innocent if a players runs through them with a group of mobs trailing them.
A flying mount would be nice though. There are a few areas I have no clue how to get to. Nothing to do with level either as I'm in level 80 lands. -
We disagree... It can be slightly different than Skyrim, but poof summon, poof none is just awful.
Poof horses actually ruin both the suspension of belief and lead to people just being overly lazy and stupid. Nevermind breaking the exploration system as it stands now.
They could simply make mounts a "free" or cheaper way to travel (but slower than teleport) between waypoints once you purchase said mount. This would retain the spirit of the game without breaking the adventure and exploration portion.
If I never see one more stupid poof horse trick ever again I will be much happier. -
The devs said very specifically that flying will NEVER be allowed in GW2 as it breaks the adventure, wonder, and sense of the epic in the world. This doesn't even include the sheer amount of content the player can then completely skip.
Truthfully, part of the reward is figuring out how to get there. If you cannot figure it out, maybe you don't deserve to see it? -
i agree with the flying mounts. they will totally ruin the exploration part of the game. i actually enjoy pounding my head on the table trying to figure out how to get to a vista, myself.
i like to run around and explore every inch of the area i'm in, so a mount would only promote that kind of stuff for others. just don't make them too fast to keep the exploration factor. -
I don't mind not having a mount. I just said a flying mount would be nice, but I do not miss it.
Some vistas are aggravating. I spent a couple hours on a few of them. Killed several innocent mobs and elites thinking the way up was behind them etc. This one in Straits of Devastation had me going to a different island to find a bridge. Straits of Devastation Vista - YouTube
I've spent some good change getting stuck trying to do vistas or get over mountains. I have to warp to a waypoint several times a day from getting stuck where I can't move, or can't get back up, and no where to go down, just unreachable up all around me. -
I hope they leave mounts out of the game
When everyone's running around at more or less the same speed, there's a sense of teamwork at play. If you see some dude getting whacked on by 2-3 grawls, you run over and help him even if he's out of your way (interestingly, the great feeling about this game is that there is no real "objective" when you enter a new zone, other than exploring. Going off the beaten path is rewarded). I've got a feeling that if mounts were introduced this sense of "i'll help my fellow adventurer" instantly vanishes . In addition, let's say you need that last point of interest that's at the top of a hill guarded by loads of enemies. If you have a mount, you can just zoom on up there, get it, and zoom back down without dismounting. Sure you can try and run through the mobs, but either 1) you'll die or 2) you'll miss out on lots of xp, items, mining/food/wood nodes along the way (but I guess people can argue the opposite; players riding mounts will be able to help random strangers and get to where they want faster).
Heck, mounts in WvWvW (which many people seem to be screaming about how they feel they're entitled to mounts in pvp) would destroy the whole game mode. It's suddenly okay to make stupid decisions and leeroy into a mob of 10-20 enemies because "I can just ride back in 20 seconds". With the current system (no mounts) you get waves of reinforcements, on foot! Such an awesome feeling to be defending a fort and all of a sudden you see this huge mass of foot soldiers coming to help.
Regardless, this will be one of those topics that will constantly be resurfacing throughout the whole lifespan of the game. This notion of "MMO 1 doesn't have mounts while MMO's 2 and 3 do have mounts. We need mounts!" really doesn't fit the guild wars vibe (it wouldn't have fit Guild Wars 1 either, for those of you who have played it).
Anyways, just some thoughts. -
Running in a group doing world events is pretty epic. Especially in the Straits of Devastation. There is always a group jumping them, just have to wait by an event till they come around..lol
I've done 97 vistas out of 266. I haven't done much exploring in this area yet. One of the skill challenges was bugged, rather than try to figure out how I got into the ship, (mobs everywhere in it) I warped back to this little town, and logged. Then I made video upon relog...

I agree that poof horses are pretty goofy, but Skyrim style wouldn't work from a logistical standpoint, since you'd have to store positional data for all of the mounts in addition to the players.
-
Unfortunately, the game is starting to appeal less and less to me.
Spent more hours on Diablo 3 than Guild Wars 2, sadly. -
I would probably have got bored of Guild Wars 2 if i played it non stop but luckily i can play it whenever i want to since i dont have the pressure of monthly charges.
Still having a blast on Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, its sort of my go to coop game, at least until Torchlight 2 and Borderlands 2. -
I feel like the two games appeal to two different types of people. After the first play through D3 held zero appeal for me.
-
Enjoying GW2 so far.
Most impressive is the social engineering work they've done for this game. GW2 encourages a sense of cooperation and camaraderie. We share nodes, mobs, and quest objects. People help you out when you're fighting and I've always had random people coming up and ressing me when I was down. It's actually better to have more people around. So far ( and I'm not very far ) I'm not sensing the toxic competitiveness of WoW and I'm liking it. WoW was designed to create competitive addiction... a "race to the bottom." -
Yeah, you are right. I'm a bit bleh about the skills in GW2.
-
i love GW2's weapon and skills system. there is absolutely no reason to have 100 different skills. it only creates a great imbalance.
personally, when i think "D3", i think of: "huge disappointment". -
Well, I didn't mean having 100 skills, I kind of want a 4th and 5th skill for scenarios where I want to only wield a one-hand sword with no off hand.
-
I have no problem with a smaller/limited action bar. I would however prefer to have the option to pick and choose what skills I had active on the left side, or at least where in the sequence. I pick up some weapons and wonder why they put them in that order, must be the timers as has nothing to do with being an AOE or solo mob shot.
-
i'm not sure if it's true, or not, but it seems like:
1 = main/regular/auto attack
2 = dmg/DoT-type of skill
3 = escape/survival skill
4 & 5 = your special/cool down-type of skills -
Baka finds the dungeons in GW2 really hard
Even with a team of 5.
Though so far Baka has only been doing Ascalon Catacombs ._. -
The next one will be rather easy, afterwards i can't comment, haven't done them yet. If you think story mode is hard, wait till you go for explorable mode.
-
Just finished AC with my friends, it went through pretty... well.
-
Found out why my performance was so bad. I noticed my machine was running ice cold, and checked the switchable graphics settings to find out that I had been running on the HD3000 the whole time. Fail.
-
Baka did went and failed explorable mode ._. Baka already finished Story mode

Ive been noticing my elementalist is pretty weak after getting to level 30, i can only take on a max of 1 or two monsters at a time.
So i created a guardian to try, i wish i used one to begin with. Now i can pull about 5 with my greatsword then switch to hammer for some clobber time. -
Earth attunement with staff is awesome for taking out groups.
-
Well, just finished twilight arbor. Went in with a 4-man team instead of a 5-man team. There were some hiccups, but it wasn't too bad either, the last boss fight was definitely harder because we were short of one player.
-
Baka's a dual dagger elementalist and has trouble staying alive fighting more than 2 at a time too ._. Baka does carry a staff in inventory just in case Baka needs the range. Baka does damage but can't live long enough
Baka is jealous of Guardians
But then again Baka will hang on to the elementalist and see if it gets better at higher levels.
-
I'm sorry.
I feel so slow when I play the guardian, but now that I am getting used to the timing of attacks, my dodges have become more accurate and I don't lose as much health anymore. -
I haven't done any dungeons except Ascalon. Been exploring, filling out the map more. doing lower level hearts, points of interest, waypoints, skill challenges, vistas etc.. i did get to the instance behind Promenade of the gods, but never did a shard run they were advertising for.
I got smoked the last time I tried the story mode, must be close to the end of it, and need better gear. i just lack the initiative to grind for rep lol.
