Haha I like Notebook Kings!
Ive been waiting a long time for a game like this if it turns out as promising as it seems. A game where you can achieve greatness with skill, not greatness that is just determined by how well your stats are and how well you are at pressing the same button combo for abilities over and over again.

2 NEW pieces of information:
Guild Wars 2 - Gameplay at Comic-Con 2011 Live Cam‏ - YouTube
1) System requirements won't be too demanding(?)
2) There is Alpha Closed Beta that determines Open Beta that determines Release Date?
With this said at Comic-Con, I have no idea what to expect for PAX and Gamescom if what this Arenanet man says is true! -
Doesn't really have to be notebook themed, although it should distinguish itself somehow and also easily recognizable as a NBR guild... just an idea.
-
How about something like Renegades Of NBR? Haha
or Nobles Of NBR? -
Anet usually stick to what they're saying and if they decide to change something they'll tell us for certain.
-
Notorious Band of Renegades [NBR] (straightforward - classy)
No Bragging Rights [NBR] (random)
Nothing Beats Rollerbladin' (just stupid)
-
or would we all like have a democracy? if leader I nominate doombug or a GW1 vet or we cast a vote!
Haha well it seems like we have a lot of time to figure this out and the name too xD I'm fine with any name personally! -
I would join, it is always nice to have a group to start off with. Especially if you are a GW n00b. (not necessarily a MMO n00b though).
-
How about
Note Book Renegades? [NBR] -
A Legion of players brought together by their love of notebook computers! Sounds wonderful.
So how to keep track of this untill the game comes out? -
You guys decide. -
I'm just hoping we have like 5-7 people (maybe 4 would be fine) to do dungeons
Next outburst of great content filled posts will be during Gamescom then PAX! -
Okei, this game sounds great.
but my one cocern is, do i need low latensy/mms.
looks like you need to fast react. -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
If you guys want to setup a NBR Guild, I can be happy to lead one. I had experience running a guild in GW 1 back then, I can be happy to help all the new people out into the Guild Wars 2 experience. If you all want, I can start a prelim setup group on Steam or something to form the backbone of the new group.
Also to the question on latency, you will need a latency under 150ms to play smoothly. Otherwise based on my experiences with Guild Wars 1, anything higher than that can cause your moves per minute to be very laggy and could affect the team play in PvE and PvP. -

And yes a closed steam group would be a great idea! I was in a pretty big guild back when i played GW1 religiously so i have quite some experience too. But you have my vote!
Now we just need a name for the guild.
-
The question here is: Does Guild Wars use region restricted servers?
If not i would have no problems helping a guild out. -

Im probably going to get this one. First MMO in a long time. I probably wont be getting it release for full price though. I'll wait for some kind of sale.

I R Serious
I have tons of games to play, so I'll pick this one up when its on sale that gives the game time to get the bugs worked out as well.
I mean if somebody gives me the game or something I would play right away and can help organize a guild. I have been a big event organizer for NBR for a while and now I organize my own smaller events like my co-op lets plays for youtube.
Even if I am not playing can share my mumble server. For me VoIP has become probably the #1 thing for team gaming. It makes it more fun, more personable, and obviously you can play better due to organization. -
If we aren't a burden, I would like the guild to use the mumble! Voice chat is always fun in gamesand would be cool for dungeons and stuff.
P.S. You're freaking awesome! -
Been trying to cram in a few last minute monument points before I deploy, later this week, and currently up to 22. I'd have a few more, but I lost my original account that I started when factions just came out. This one is only about 2 years old, and I just never had the time to grind a few of the titles out, mainly a pvp title.
Also finally got the chance to look over the upcoming classes for GW2. I've played a warrior for so long, and I'm sick of it so I don't think I'll be going that route. The ranger looks awesome, and I love the idea of excelling at both long range and melee combat, as well as being incredibly agile, but I'm not sure I like the idea of having pets. It's really hard to be sneaky, which is what a ranger's all about, when you've got a giant animal following you around. I'm just wondering if it'll be viable to play one while not using a pet. -
Also, I don't think I would fulfill a guild leader role too well looking at my ever increasing college schedule and everything... especially for 2012. (thinking realistically here).
I will run for guild officer tho hehe.
I don't use Steam now, so you will have to add me later. I'm using a Mac now until I will order my new rig. -
We'll see how it turns out for GW2 however since GW was instanced and a lot of GW2 will be persistent. My guess is that we'll be able to play together on some server regardless of where we are located in the world though.
In any case, count this ol' GW vet in. -
Star Forge for president!!!! 2012!
-
I promise to break all my election promises. :3 -
Im jumping on this at release. Already preparing to preorder. Think it might be the first MMPORG that I will get into since my WoW days. I played WoW for 2 years and loved it until it just became a chronic grind and enjoyed guild leading raiding PvP and since leaving have not found anything that has beaten it for gameplay enjoyability. I have lost 5 stone and can run a marathon now thought so clearly WoW was bad for me.
Brilliant Trailer, simple effective character choices, engrossing story! Yes Please. They are clearly going for amazing scenary too and graphics and that is what im interested in. I never played GW1 though I think I trialed it but because it was only a short while ago it seemed dated and my other issue is that I have only a real interest in healing but this has not materialised from what I can see maybe because of the PvP basis, can anyone confirm? Otherwise I will hunt. -
Anyway, are you joining the Notebook Rebels? xD -
woops disregard this post it was too late!
-
-
but I suppose the game mechanics are different to WoW.
My only worry is the Guardian will turn out to be like a Retribution Pally on WoW and be bombarded by duel handed weapon wielding children hell bent on spreading the words: ''Dats Epic''.
I think I will hunt always got on well with hunters calm and collective people with a slight arrogance about them (sounds a bit like me) a change from saving lives to setting a wild animal on someone but the pre release graphics of the hunters well... Dats Epic
Im up for anything but I can see me losing my job because of this game -
Haha, i'm sure we will all lose our jobs/stop going to school for GW2 xDLast edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
Please don't ever compare Guild Wars Rangers to those button mashing scum hunters on WOW...

Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
My HoM Point Status.
Also to DEagleson. I don't think the servers are going to be region-locked and ArenaNet confirmed that any characters you create can switch servers at your own free will free of charge too!
PS: Vicious... You stole my avatar... -

I actually didn't spend much money to get to 22, just a lot of time and effort...maybe 100plat at most.
I'd really like to hit 25, but I'm down to my last 5 plat, and no where close to a pvp title, so I'd have to get more weapons/armor/hero armor. -
So Star Forge as our leader?
-
Well, it might be a good idea to get a steam group going. Useful for those who intend to join the GW2 fray and the GW1 players who want to complete certain things in GW1 like the HoM.
Star Forge' link works, it just takes some time to display.
Anyways, here's mine for the sake of bragging hehe: Hall of Monuments Reward Calculator
Like Star Forge, you wouldn't believe how much cash i blew on that thing. Ectos and armbraces for those who know what i'm talking about...
EDIT: I'm all for Star Forge or Vicious as leader.
EDIT2: It was stated that water magic would be healing oriented at some point. Then again, i'm guessing that will depend on which weapons you're wielding. For those who weren't up to speed, the weapons you use will determine a part of your skill set. -

Now we just need the game : /
-
HoM? Rewards for playing GW1? Downloading now! Do I need the expansion packs? ;o Do I need to sign up with same email?
Someone help me!!!!
-
However, you do get 3 rewards just for owning guildwars and eye of the north. -
Is it honestly worth doing? xD It's something to keep me busy until release Haha!
-
You're right, just took a little bit to load.
That's really impressive Tijo, an amazing amount of accomplishments, must have taken a ton of time. I'm a little intimidated.
Here's mine: Hall of Monuments Reward Calculator
Edit: It shows on that page what you get for so many achievement points. The first 6 are armor, then it's an assortment of weapons, in-game pets, and minipets. -
Yeah it will consume quite a fair amount of time since the Hall of Monuments (HoM) is grind oriented for the most part. If we get around to creating that Steam group though, i wouldn't mind helping people with GW1, I could even roll a new character for the occasion. Steam has the trilogy (Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall) for $30 and Eye of the North for $20 so it's a whopping $50 to get all 4 games.
As for the rewards for GW2 they are purely cosmetic: armor, weapons, miniature pets (they just follow you around doing nothing) and titles.
EDIT: Yeah it was pretty time consuming, however i started at something like 33 due to being a GW1 player since early 2006 and that helped a lot. Add to that that i already had close to 1000K for the obsi armor and it wasn't so bad. Getting those 11 tormented weapons was pretty time consuming though. Oppressor weapons weren't available at that time. -

"Your new Guild Wars 2 characters will be able to use these low-level items and armor right away, and we'll provide you with the means to use these special items as you advance to higher levels."
I guess it depends on if Arena net follows the same equipment rule as in GW1 where it doesn't really matter and shortly after max level everyone has the same equipment, or if they're going to be a true MMO where there are different levels/sets of gear that do different things and have different stats. -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Also, if anyone who wants to play Guild Wars 1 and need help getting though the game, let me know and I might have a chance once in a while to log-in and help you out. -
I need help! ;D I want to get those rewards and not be behind when i start GW2
I have a level 20 already (Monk Ranger) and can restart if necessary. I have prophecies, and might buy the 3 packs soon as like a bonus to my laptop which is a birthday present/graduation present/introduction present :0
