Yeah GK104 is a beast. 195W Kepler beating a 250W GCN in all areas. That is very impressive. Its pretty darn close to GTX 590 too, which is a dual GPU, almost two GTX 580s lol
I remember that efficiency chart from Nvidia with Fermi at the bottom and Kepler waaay above. Marketing at its best![]()

The GTX 660m looks good... still haven't gotten any information that Clevo P151EM/P150EM will support it.
If Clevo only supports GTX 670m, 675m and 680m then that's really a deal breaker! No budget Kepler GPU on Clevo!
I hope this is just temporary, let's hope they will fix the bios later. -
-
GTX 660M -> 7970M -> GTX 680M
The 670M/675M are just stopgaps because 28nm is late. -
What did Prema's screenshot look like before? Now it's lots of logos.
-
Just read some information from a Chinese forum
It seems the 650m's performance will equal to 560m.
My guess:
W110ER: GT 650m with DDR3
W150ER: GT 650m with GDDR5
P150EM/P151EM: GTX 660m and up.
I 100% will grab the P151EM/P150EM with GTX 660m for sure, have been waiting for more than half year.
-
There is two things I`d like to know
A) Will there be a 192 bit GTX 660M?
B) Will the ultra fast GDDR5 in GTX 660M make up for the 128 bit bus?
The memory in 660M is faster than the memory that was inside the desktop GTX 500 series. -

Sorry guys but I'm having a hard time trying to keep up with everything, hows the P170HM looking in terms of upgrades?

"NVIDIA GT650M about to be released - Performance will equal GTX 560M, to be confirmed in practical tests.
There was the Samsung Q470, which was 14". But now our company (Blue Sky) will have two notebooks with this GPU:
11.6" W110ER GT 650M 2G VRAM, expected to receive sample by this weekend, will run benchmarks. It supports i7 quad core.
15.6" W150ER GT 650M 1G VRAM, the ETA of this is not given to us.
GT650M has two variants - GDDR3 and GDDR5, we'll see what the detailed specs are later."
Disclaimer: I currently have the unbelievable privilege of working as an intern at NVIDIA, so I can't comment on any products, nor do my opinions / views represent the company. The above translation is faithful word to word to the original text in Chinese (no new info).
That being said, I'm incredibly excited about the upcoming releases just like everyone else. -
seems the w110er only has the DDR3 version then -
Omg, if Clevo has plans to release a 15.6" with i7-3610/3612qm & GT 650M with GDDR5 I'm pulling the trigger as soon as it appears at resellers.

Ditto, you can already get a Clevo 15" with a 580/6990M. -
-
Both as a translator since the google translate is pretty much useless and as someone we can try to lure news out of.
Thanks for the translation. Do you know if GTX 680M is coming out the next 3 months (Attempt #1) -

Man what if the GTX 680M becomes a 70W TDP like mentioned by Semiaccurate. And with that performance. I mean, a GPU that is equal to, lets say almost a GTX 580, and have the TDP of GTX 560M. GTX 680M will then be almost about as good as 2 x GTX 580M in SLI. 70W TDP vs 200W TDP. Isn`t that kinda sick?
-
I'll let you know if/when I see it on the shelves
And man, I will for sure be sticking around. My account here was created when I was back in high school and has ... hmm almost 1.5k posts to it. Veteran of this forum, right? -
Even if they refresh the smaller 15 inch clevo (W150HR or Sager 5165) and put in a 650m in it, the thing is still big at over an inch thick.
There will be plenty of more portable laptops around sporting a 640 or 650 at under an inch thick by then.
For me, I would buy the P150EM and go all out with a 7970m or 680m, or get a true portable laptop with a 640 or 650(hopefully) in it. -
What kind of settings is this? Low? Medium? High? Ultra? I can`t read it
-
On the right hand side, it's highest possible.
I think this is in traditional chinese so I can't really read it.
AND ONE MORE DAYYYYYYYYYYY -
Really? Is that BF3 in Ultra except that its in 1366x768?
-
. all the other ones that doesnt look like that aren't the highest. i think it might be medium.
-
I'm ready to bet they won't put a dedicated GPU with GDDR5 in many mainstream, shiny notebooks ready for mass selling in retail stores for both cost concerns and insufficient cooling capacity. You'll see plenty of DDR3 based 640 or even 650M probably, that's it.
That was the case when we had a boatload of Radeon 6630/6650M, and very few 6750/6770M (even fewer in sleek-looking designs), even if they performed on an other level. It will get worse with nvidia's 640/650M as the core is much more powerful and therefore should be even more subject to starvation from a crippled bandwidth.
If I want a compromise between weight / quality components / upper-midrange GPU, I don't expect it to be easy to find that compromise with well-known brands. For example Samsung gave it a try with their Series 7 and the result was good, but they're quite expensive, obviously not targetted at the mainstream segment and they still managed to screw the display.
I think I'll live with a boring, thicker Clevo notebook compared to the shiny (crappy) Dells/Acer/Asus/HP, if it satisfies those basic specifications. I don't believe the market will change in the near future (not considering ultrabooks) and mainstream notebooks will suddenly turn into upscale machines. Typically I think glossy, dull display with a crappy res and subpar GPUs will remain a widespread combination, but sometimes you'll get a backlit keyboard compared to the previous generation, and a slightly thinner/lighter case. -

I see more MBP/MBA/Razer Blade form factor machines hitting the shelves and selling better than ever. -

I'm not going to survive the wait until tmrw when the NDA for nvidia lifts D: and i swear, if there's another delay...

sorry if this is a repost

Can it play WoW ?
-
OK I might as well just post it. I don`t know what it means in terms of performance though. But yeah, here is Samsung Q470 with the 2GB DDR3 GT 650M, and with i3 2350M (2.3GHz dual core without turbo boost) and with 4GB RAM.
It is playing Battlefield 3 very close to Ultra details, 4XMSAA and 16X something, @ 1366x768. Here is the result he got (3 different shots)
Is it good?
All credits for these pictures goes to wsshei110 -
nice!
question: will going with a factory OC'd car effect that GPU boost feature? that is a new feature, correct? how is that going to effect stuff. -
So the GT 650M can barely run BF3 on close to max settings on a 768p screen?
Hmm... that gets me wondering about the 660m. Especially since the 650M benchmarked about as much as the 570M, what will the 660M live up to? -
I`m not shure how bad/good the performance is so I`ll let someone else comment on it if they want to.
But I can atleast mention that the notebook tested have a dual core without turbo boost (weak) and it is BF3 which eats a lot of resources in itself. Plus he is playing it with Ultra details and 4xMSAA which is demanding from what I`ve heard. Plus its the DDR3 version.
-
Wanna test? Simply disable turbo boost in your sandy bridge cpu and see how the game fare. -
awesome!!!
any idea whether it was DDR3 or GDDR5? hopefully just DDR3 -
I found a summary of BF3 though. No mobile GPUs is able to get above 30FPS with 1080p in Ultra. Not even 580M. True?
I would guess 768p in Ultra take its toll on the GPUs too so maybe on the circumstances (dual core without turbo, DDR3, etc) 25FPS is not so bad? Heck the GT 555M get 25FPS with 768p, but with Quadcore, and only high details but no MSAA enabled

I Shall Revisit This Thread At Around 1:30 Pm Est While Im In School
Do Not Dare Disappoint Me -
I will be joining!
-
I'm doubting we'll have any information about the mobile part, so far none of that has been stated about this press release, they seem to be more interested in showing off the GTX 680, but who knows, yay optimisticness.
-
shoot now's a bad time for my laptop to give out its last breath
now im without a laptop for a while >< DAMN IT 660M COME OUT QUICK -
what kind of notebooks do u guys the gtx 660m is gonna be in? (size/weight wise)
