    hello everyone,

i tried to play world of warcraft with the intel x3100. played on 800x600 and lowest details. the frames are ok, but after like 20-30minutes of playing it starts to surge, and the sound is holding for a few milliseconds, then after a while my wlan connection is gone and i cant reconnect, only a restart helps then. does anyone have same problems? or any suggestions?

    my machine:
    c2d 7500
    2gig ram
    x3100
    win xp prof sp3
    newest x3100 driver

It's just too bad X3100 "users" still have X3100. How about free chipset upgrades? ;)

I´m very pleased with my MSI 12" PR200 laptop but I won´t buy any more intel IGP based laptops unless they are exclusively for office/net browsing, even Intel Laterbee (CPU"GPU"). My friends´ 12-13.3" laptops have ATI/Intel graphic boards and perform way better than mine, not to mention frequent software updates and the difference on price is just 100€ (but they also come with 200-250Gb HDD and mine is only 160Gb).

I´m glad here in Portugal we have an incredible offer on hardware and fantastic prices, we are one of the first on having the latest tech and products available at very good prices so next time I cannot trust on Intel reputation (I was said that X3100 would perform very well and software in a few months (back then) would be at ATI/NVIDIA level, as Apple also used Intel´s IGP). I was deceived and don´t be as well: Intel Graphics (x3_00 and x4_00 and I suspect Laterbee -as Late-to-be- :p) simply cannot match the "big two".

    IntelUser,

Do you have Intel GMA X3100?

If so, what drivers are you currently using?

I'm using the official 14.34.4.4964 released on 6-27. I tried using the drivers from your previous link and it seemed indeed like a performance increase but I was having some compatibility problems and BSOD's

Actually I use the X3000, which is the older desktop version using G965 chipset. I just check back here to give updates on what's happening.

I use 14.36 drivers. It allowed me to run ET: QW(Demo though) whereas previous versions wouldn't allow it to run saying it missed some OpenGL functions.

Just installed 14.36 on Windows XP, and yes! counter-strike 1.6 is much more playable, constantly above 30 fps at 800x600 in OpenGL.

Even though OpenGL 2.0 is supported, there's still the gripe with dynamic lighting in the game. HE grenades, flashlight, Nightvision heavily lag the game, much like when I used to have the i815 integrated graphics! Ah well, guess it's too old of a game for them to really care.

    I don´t understand, I play counter-strike 1.6 at 120-130fps at 800x600 and 80-90fps at 1024x768 with my combo! (C2D T7100 1.6GHz 800MHz + 2Gb 667MHz + X3100 + Vista + 15.9 drivers)...

When on heavy fire framerate can go some 20fps down (which means always >60fps)

uh I can't believe this. Even without dynamic lighting the frame rate is seldom above 60, openGL or D3D.

edit: especially since the goldsrc engine is hard-coded to a 99 fps cap, it's impossible to get any higher than that.

    Hi,

I have a question to X3100 users. Anybody played "Knights of The Old Republic 2" on this video card? Because, when I'm trying to run the game (after character creation and cut-scene), game crashes.
I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate 32 and X3100 Video card with newest drivers; Intel Core2Duo, 2 GB ram.

I would really appreciate some help :).

sarcasm will get you nowhere :(

I recently picked up the luxology modo 3.02 free trial, looks like an excellent and surprisingly low cost 3d modeler, renderer, with built in paint and sculpt.

causes crashes all the time in

It happens instantly if you try and put down any new geometry in Model Quad mode (4 way split preview), even on a brand new project.

No problems on an nvidia system :(

I´ll get them for you ASAP. I tried now and it keeps crashing when I press "New Game" :S Perhaps I have to reinstall the game.

On the menu I get 280-290 fps @ 1280x800 16-bit with OpenGL (lol) If it was like this on the game/other games...

I installed vista 15.11 drivers sujested by IntelUser and they do enable OpenGL 2.0 extensions. However, for some reason, after the upgrade, the igfxsrvc.exe
(part of intel graphics driver) uses one core of my core2 processor all the time, reducing performance and battery life a lot. Does anyone experience the same problem? Does anyone know how to solve this? Thanks

Edit: i think i wasnt clear enought. The igfxsrvc.exe is using the 50% of the cpu time (as shown in the taskmanager) all the time. It is like it is doing something (or it is crashed) and using a full core for this.

I get zero performance increase in D3D games, and only a marginal improvement in OpenGL- HL games still unplayable. edit: Doom 3 is still unplayable on Vista, no improvement there.

HL = Half Life gold source series games, not HL2. though, HL2 is about 20% slower in Vista than XP.

15.11 works fine for me on GM965 (X3100) and Vista 32 Bit Business. No CPU load. Maybe reinstall?

The .wmv bug I previously posted here present in v15.9 is gone as well.

CPU load of igfxsrvc.exe or any other part of the driver does not seem to be on one cpu (vista64).

The huge stability problem in modo 3.02 mentioned above is fixed, only problem in it now seems to be the Paint view doesn't work, in advanced openGL preview mode it just shows a wireframe, in texture preview mode it just goes black, so you can't actually paint anything.

As nobody seems to have the same problem than me, I assume the problem is related to my note (Toshiba M305-S4820, running Vista SP1 64bits) or to the way i installed the drivers. However, reinstalling didn't solve the problem. Did you uninstall previous driver before instaling the new one? How can you completely uninstall intel graphics drivers? Does anyone know the function of the problematic process (igfxsrvc.exe)? Thanks you

i tried to play some FPS online games such as Crossfire ,Suddenattack ,9dragons ,...on my x3100 card but i was very disappointed , just about 13fps .so i couldn't aim accurately .But after that i looked for some good drivers on this site and found 14.29 for win XP (the old driver) . To my surprise ,my favourite games now run with at least 30fps (very smooth). and result of some benchmark softs increase about 25%. I am so happy now :) .anyone can explain that?

The link on http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/intelg965/ is now labeled incorrectly.

When you click through, it goes to 15.11.64.1537 (for v64) 15.11.1537 (v32) so they're officially out now.

The contents of GFX_Vista64_15.11.64.1537_PV_Intel.exe (linked earlier from a desktop motherboard page) and winvista64_1511.zip are identical with the exception of :

    installation_readme.txt
    readme.txt

And the inclusion of the vbios_xxxx.zip files that are of no consequence unless you have flashable add on cards (not integrated chips / laptops) and the flash ap.

So if you installed GFX_Vista64_15.11.64.1537_PV_Intel.exe you won't need to reinstall.

Well, let me post CS 1.6 results:

    The 1280x720 is OpenGL and 1280x800 is D3D @ 16-bit, Widescreen

    [IMG] [IMG]

    720p OpenGL: 140-170fps
    800p D3D: 90-130fps

    System: MSI PR200 Laptop / C2D T7100 (1.8GHz 800MHz) / 2GB RAM 667MHz / X3100 15.11 Vista 32 drivers (default settings)

Are these results bad / normal / good?

On graphics drivers (near the windows clock) you press 2x > display settings (or something like that, mine is in portuguese) > energy settings > disable

I don´t know if XP has those or if they make any difference (never cared to benchmark changing these options)

From the graphics properties window > Display settings tab > power settings.

When you click on display settings, look underneath the rotation portion, there's a button that says "Power Settings".

It does help a bit. I managed to squeeze a few more frames out of CoD 4.

Didn't test it with any other games though, so I don't know how effective it really is.

well I did a bios update for my Acer, after that each time I get into Windows XP logon screen I got a BSOD. Luckily, I've still got Vista, so I just downgrade the bios in Vista to the previous ones and then I can get back to XP again...
BUT after that I got 384MB VRAM AVAILABLE INSTEAD OF 128 for the X3100 in XP, all the game like Titan Quest and COD4... become playable in XP and of course they are a lot better than in Vista. (after a few days the harddrive was automatically formatted completely and I've to reinstall everything again but now there's 384mb vram in XP). I've checked with acer they tell that for the 4315 types there's only 128mb vram MAX in XP if I have 1gb ram, so I don't know why this happen...
Another thing, have anyone try Legacy of Kain Defiance and Mafia on x3100? Coz I'm planning to buy these 2.
And I can not find the rotation option or power option in Windows XP also, +1 vote for screenshot plz.

Notice that Display Settings is clicked.

On the far right there's the Rotation column. Underneath "180" there's a Power Settings button

EDIT: and yes, this is for XP, I'm using the 14.36 drivers that Intel User showed everyone.

I dont have that power settings or roation stuff i use the 14.34 drivers which are the newest drivers on www.intel.com under the mobile GPU x3100 download center.

The 14.36 was only out for the GMA 3000 for desktops as far as i could see and i dont think they will work well on the x3100?

I also got twice as good FPS with the new drivers on GTA SA i can now play on Very High settings lol. before this i could only play on lowest.

There is however a problem. Many of the textures r just complety pink. Like some buildings, cars and units. I guess this has something to do with the 14.36 drivers. The performance increase was however insane!

Here is a video of a guy playing DMC4 on x3100 with 14.36 drivers.
