I installed windows 7 a few days ago on my laptop, and since then performance has plumited. With the official Win7 drivers I get screen flicker, which makes gaming impossible.

I tried the lastest Vista drivers, which work somewhat okay, but I get limited to 30fps in Warcraft 3, which dips into the lower 20's at times. This is not playable really, so I was going to ask here what might be the best drivers to try out for Win7 when it comes to WC3 (as in DirectX) gaming on the Win7.

I'd appreciate any help to get this game to run smoothly once again!

14.41, WTH! Where are the OGL2.1 supporting 14.39 driver? I'll take a wild guess and say 14.4x drivers are for enabling Arrandale/Clarkdale IGP support for testing. It says on the changelog it features new UI.

The Dedicated system memory on Windows 7 is 64mb, but on Vista it is 128 MB... Is there a way to get it to 128 MB through registry tweaks or igdlh64.inf tweaks?

    What difference will it make??
It's still using the same memory, it shouldn't give any more/less performence.

The thing is, if I put an opengl extension in the shortcut the game works flawless in single player mode, with 60fps constantly. However, when going on b.net it starts stuttering (graphics related), which makes it unplayable.
in WinXP I couldn't play with OpenGL at all, so dunno what that's about.

And well, maybe the problem isn't directX-related but rather having to do with generally crappy drivers - hence why I ask on this forum for the optimal drivers for Win7. I've tried a couple of drivers already, but I can't really see any improvement between 'em.

Those drivers perform the same as the newest Vista drivers, thus they are useless for Source games and ok for others with that nice dual channel boost. However there are bugs. One guy has problems with an external monitor and I've found a bug that distorts the display after coming out of standby sometimes. So I suggest to not use the drivers for now on 1410/1810T(Z).

A number of ways to overclock is in this thread. If you need assistance suggest you request it in that thread where likely Moral_Hazard or any number of others can assist. You'll need to ID your PLL.

Yes - if you're prepared to pinmod your PLL.

LOL that's not entirely true. There are plenty of older 3D titles for Intel IGP sufferers *COUGH*COUGH* users I mean, to play. My first experiences with online gaming were with CoD1 on my Toshiba tablet I got in Summer of 2005. It had Intel Extreme Graphics 2 w/ 64 MB of shared memory. It somehow managed to run Far Cry too with loads of glitching but it's all I had, so I beat it as such haha.

I tried to mod the latest X4500 xp driver as shown here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5020848&postcount=1760

Had to modify the "kit21001.inf" file in this case and not the "igdlh.ini" because there was no "igdlh.ini" file.

Ran the setup, restarted and then I just had a black screen.

Does anyone have any idea how to get it working?

Using Compaq Presario V3759tu (xp OS) with x3100
before i format.. my warcraft 3 (frozen throne) is working perfectly .. until i sent it to the shop and get it reformatted , ( yes format back to xp OS ) , my frozen throne just lags and only 11-12 fps at lowest solution.

Does anyone here with a X3100/965 have an issue where they can't play some games, esp Quake 3 unless the Aero theme is turned ON?

This doesn't happen on my nVidia cards here, just my Intel 965 notebook.

That sounds very odd, see if it still happens if you change r_ignorehwgamma to 1 or 0 in the game cfg file, if the other games doing it are not the quake3 engine then it's unlikely to be the games problem though, but the drivers support of something related.

Well, that's the way Intel had been treating the X3100 ppl. The best driver is still the last Vista driver. As far as I know.

Thanks, I'll try that later - it loads fine, but the screen is just black - can still press ~ and /quit the game though.

Update: Doesn't work, I added seta r_ignorehwgamma "1" in my config, also tried "0" with no luck :\

This happens with every version of Win7 x64 intel drivers I've tried - I may give the latest Vista one a go.

in that case i'd normally have thought the res or refresh was set to something unsupported, remove r_displayrefresh and r_mode from *all* cfg files in the games dir and then see what happens as it defaults them.

ok, I hadn't tried my laptop with this tbh, I was too busy to investigate.

I don't know why this has started happening as I did test quakelive on this machine a few week ago, but I do have the same problem myself now.

strangely it's only happening when trying to connect to an online server though, it's running just fine when playing offline. I don't know what it is that is causing it to trip out online only, it's not causing a security dialog to popup or anything that could have caused a mess, and I havn't changed the driver.

Maybe a win7 system update has messed things up?

    Gaming with an X3100.

That's laughable. Why not get a notebook with a real GPU.
Anything not ATI or Nvidia isn't going to be much of a performer for gaming.

    X3100 Fails.
