I was building up on a cliff, and saw a creeper. Ran into my house (which was in construction, no roof) only to have one drop in from the cliff above me and blow up me and the wall holding back the other creeper, which then ran in to kill me. Teamwork FTW?

 

Lmao PROPS to the creepers on that one

 

Btw guys... I'm having a slight issue with the server. Actually 2 issues. 1st one is, every few minutes, I lag completely and can't move for like 10 seconds. Then it goes back to normal. Then, sometimes it'll kick me out say this:

Internal exception: Java.Net.SocketException: Connection reset by peer: Socket write error

If I wait like 30 seconds I can rejoin but it's annoying.

 

Mine does that too... Always have.

Whoever destroyed my house or at least blew up a creeper near my house, can you please not do that again? You could have at least tried to fix it. I logged in and there was a creeper right next to me and like holes around my home. Seriously.

 

That sucks man. I hate when creepers blow up my house.

 

Me and aduy were on all yesterday. Tons of fun. I don't know who blew up the creeper by your house but if it was me, I would have fixed it. Yeah me and aduy are almost done with this mine shaft we've been working on. It has a glass cylinder going thru the middle. We were going to pour lava down the center but we decided to put water at the bottom so you can just jump into the center to get down. We both got a bunch of diamonds also I died with 2 diamond picks, a diamond sword, and a diamond shovel also. That sucked cause I couldn't find my items and they de-spawned. But immediately after, I found a pocket of 8 diamond so I wasnt too mad. I got a total of 18 diamond yesterday . We came across a giant cave FILLED with mushrooms and stuff. We also got a bunch of TNT and went deep underground to go TNT mining. That was interesting but nothing good -.- Overall it was a great time and I can't wait till tonight to come back and play more.

 

Im glad somebody still play.
Once i get home il check the state of the server, but since its a vanilla server with a backend program to control server backups ect. it will be much easier to not screw up.

 

2 things. Someone built into my property and I don't like that. I don't care if its only a few blocks, don't mess with with people's stuff. I think it was aduy so its fine ill just talk with him. But anyone else, just general courtesy with others' property please.

Other thing is I was riding a minecart and the game lagged. I ended up like teleporting underground somehow and got kicked immediately after with the message "moving too fast. Hacker? : (" ? I guess its a built-in anti-hack feature but it annoyed me. But Im just glad i was able to log back in and play after.

Its the anti hack system to protect against fly- and speedhacking.
Sadly its not a perfect solution, but at least it doesent perma ban users.

I finally got my Atom 330 box booting up nicely and its now hosting Minecraft with SimpleServer. (Not portforwarded yet)
Im buying a new router tomorrow, a Dlink Dir-825 and then flash OpenWRT to it.

If all goes well i hope i can dodge the server fees and save up to a real server.
But the map loading is the main bottleneck here, but i will buy a small SSD to replace that.

 

Dogs keep spawning right around my fort...I've gotten 10 of them by now.

 

They be minions of doom, not doggies. :3

And a little update on my server, i might also be able to host Terraria too.
If its lightweight that is.
Also try getting some Mumble slots up too.

lol after the creeper /lava mine/ rail car catastrophie i turned my house into just a mine, and built my self a nice obsidian condo of sorts, and i put in powered rail stations to go into and out of the mine and to my house, its sick, also i got the hd texture pack wich is awesome.

 

I got my ISP to make my FiOS modem into bridge mode, so now i can host from home.
I think my line can support the players.

Il upload the map from our current server into the new one, then let the old one run with the new one until monday.
Do note that changes to the old server wont save once i merge.

Il post the IP once its set up.

Im moving from a virtual server hosted by FragNet.net to my own Atom 330 box at home.
The current server specs from FragNet im unsure of but it runs on a Windows Server.
My own server runs a trial version on Microsoft Server 2008 R2, with a Atom 330 OCed to 2,1 GHz from the standard 1,6 GHz.
Ram is upgraded to 4gb and it also uses a Nvidia Geforce 9400m thats totally useless now. xD
With this server at home i save 108 euros every three months so i save cash that can be invested in a SSD for the Atom server.

So does it lag or?

Did not see any complaints, but the server merger is now done.

 

if you noticed in my mine a large open hole with many pressure plates its a slime farm with a detector that can tell me if there is anything in the pit, its awesome, and it shows me in the top of the mine if there are slimes.

edit: why mindcraft is awesome, look at my fps.

I get around 100fps with all the eye candy (Some mod on minecraft forum) far rendering, clearwater and fullscreen.
My old notebook was lucky getting 60fps on medium render distance. Xd

Lmfao, I get about 250FPS with all on (Optifine MT) on my M15x and about 110FPS on my M11x, same settings. Its great.

Who the hell has been tampering with my fort?

I logged in today, and somebody replaced my front door mechanism (button from the outside, pressure plate from the inside) with redstone and buttons...they dug out a bunch of dirt underneath my house to put in the wiring and repeater. And one of the walls of my fort was completely displaced.

Also, some of my dogs were wounded when I logged in, and I sure as hell didn't leave them like that.

To whomever that was: if you don't want to incriminate yourself here in the thread, that's fine. Send me a PM or talk to me on Steam or whatever, but I would really appreciate you being honest about it. I build stuff the way I like it; if you have a better idea for my fort, by all means suggest something, but please don't dismantle and rebuild my stuff without my permission, let alone letting me know.

 

Seems we have some people causing issues.

I had one person in my scope of possible griefers when I was a mod and tracking the issues and the log but I have no clue the current status of things or the list of players with access.

 

Griefing and slight chance of the server being down. D;
Damn cant do anything since im at work for at least 8 hours, but when i get back im gonna check the server logs.
I can also load a older backup if players want that.

 

It was aduy who re-did my front door...and got my fort partially exploded by creepers in the process, which explains why half of my dogs are on the verge of death. >__<

The server is up, although I keep timing out.

 

I dont know to explain the timeout issues myself to be honest.
My line is pretty much unused at this hour so internet connection to my server should be perfect.

I finally tried out a texture pack today...specifically, LB Photo Realism x256.

Normal Minecraft textures are 16x16...these are 256x256 I could explain how much detail it adds, but I'll let my screenshots speak for themselves.

Did you run the HD patcher? If you don't do that first, then Minecraft will only be able to use 16x16 texture packs.

 

Yup. Using MC Patcher, the game says it's run out of memory. With Optifine, it just closes the program.

 

The thread for the HD pack mentions some fixes for running out of memory:

I used photorealism for a while I liked most of it but a few textures were just too bleh and I had to change it, plus it was kinda unnatural

Doku was the best for me in the end, looks very fitting for the game and still looks a million times better than stock.

i tried that texture pack but because the textures were so detailed it made little sparkles.

 

Yeah, I noticed that at longer distances...it actually looks kind of cool on water.

 

Gave the fix a try, but it still crashed so I just used the 128x textures. Still looks nice, but I think I'm going to stick with Doku. Not a fan of the water textures or how it makes everything darker.

 

Nuts...I finally found diamonds in my mine (4 of them, to be exact), and literally right on my way back up, my [W] key gets stuck and I walk right into a lava pool. Lost all the diamonds, several stacks of cobble and wood, and all my tools.

Could have been worse, but god damn, I just got those diamonds; they were the only ones I've found so far on my own >:/

Whats up with the huge holes in the map? Chunk errors? When I get close to the edge, it throws me into a repeated falling animation and I can't get out of it w/o commands or quitting.
