NBR-Minecraft [Whitelist], 48 slots server for the NBR community. :D

Is impossible we could transplant this .jar into a server and have a 1.8 server up? Since my server is disposable, I'm going to try it.

 

Im not home this weekend so i cant really upgrade the server to the leaked v1.8, but at any rate we dont need to remake a map for 1.8 since Notch twittered that we might also need a fresh map for 1.9.

What do you guys think?

And il update to 1.8 once the SimpleServer devs put out a working release, but they usually work fast.

 

Okay, so my server is now on 1.8. I founf the server pre-release by guessing the link. Basically, take the normal minecraft.jar at the end of the normal link, change it to minecraft_server.jar. So, if you install 1.8 on your setup, fel free to jump into my server. There arent too many bugs, and you can look around. I have a crappy seed ATM.

 

I just went on your server Deagle because kev's was down. (Had a little downtime). I assume the pics on the first post are not of the server that is up now, correct? I had no lag so maybe it was just an isolated issue from before. Once the 1.8 comes up maybe I get back into MC.

O, I really like the text pack. Do you know what coords those pics are from, I spawned in like the middle of no where. And Kev, I keep trying your server and I can't connect.

Huh. Its online, I can get on, and me and Deagle were on earlier. Thats odd.

 

Vapkez is probably on the official 1.7.3 and not the "leaked" 1.8 prerelease.

Edit: Changed back.
Seems to work great, but since the prerelease has the map breaking Exp orb bug, i wont keep it online.
Back to v1.7.3 clients.

 

New PR version will be out tomorrow, which will fix pretty much all major bugs. Jeb on twitter confirmed it.

Btw I checked out the mushroom villa on the 2nd server, quite awesome .

Seems to run good on 1.8 for now, but please check out post #1 and then answer my questions.
Im kinda bored with the current map, its not hard to play "survival" and most players already got a stash of supplies and at least 2 epic structures.

What do you think?

 

I think i'm gonna hop back on the minecraft train soon. I'd prefer a new fresh map .

 

Im thinking that would be the best too, but do note that this will be a survival server, and not the new creative mode.

 

I think survival is the best way to play smp. Creative mode would be boring, especially since anybody could spam any material anywhere without really working for it.

Garfield, that was my design. Once we get a new map and develop it alot, I'll put in a huge rail system.

 

I think you could find some Minecraft servers that use Hamachi over at Minecraftforum.net i guess.

And i think we should do the rail system first, then build around it.
Like small NPC towns, only with players.

Yeeeep. Deagle, any chance you'd want to grab the map off my server for yours? Its a nice seed, and we've developed it a little. I haven't seen much other than the one spawn town on this map, though.

I got some hard working players making a "spawn" town so all will be good.

 

was playing single player earlier today...

The map I generated is basically a giant ocean with sparse islands atleast 200 blocks in the distance. While I was sailing around, I looked down, and saw light from the bottom of the ocean. Turns out to be an abandoned mine shaft! So cool....it was like an underwater cave with air trapped in it.

 

Oceans are too big and too frequent in 1.8 land-gen in my opinion. Yeah there was a lack of large water bodies in 1.7 and before, but even if there are, they should be very rare and not several thousand blocks in size (who the heck wants to row a boat for 4 or 5 days straight in MC?).

 

Upped the player slots to 20 and enforcing Whitelist.
All previous players after the map reset that joined today are now added to the whitelist.

Will update soon with a list of Mods and Admins that you can PM too.

 

yea, no kidding. 2 day journey to the closest island with animals on it. What gives? I can't eat food if there aren't any animals, lol.

 

Technically you can (fishing), but yeah it's a problem that most people won't be noticing until too late, because most of them like to be limited in the starting zone of a map.

 

I think I'm going to build in the ocean like on my server. Makes farming a snap.

 

Hey DEagle, I cannot figure out how to install that water mod that you have that reflects water. I followed the instructions and it did not work.

 

Feel like putting Mastershroom back on the whitelist?

 

The water shading mod has not yet been updated to Minecraft 1.8.1, only the older 1.7.3 aka not ADVENTURE! :3

Someone griefed the hell out of the server :/.

 

Thanks for posting this, il check the logs and just load a backup zip.

Edit: Cant see anything on the ingame chat logs so the griefer or griefers kept "radio silence".
What i did find out is that the weapon of choice was fire, since all the non burnable blocks was left.
I also gathered this info from the chat log and the connection log.
(Removed the IPs though)

This makes Steffen2397, olewalter_tb & Mambo96 my prime suspects.
Also finding Mambo96 saying Grief in the global chat further confirms my findings.

Il ban this crap away so hopefully we can keep this server well behaved.
I also apologize for any rollback this might have caused.

Jeb confirms new Nether structures (huge overhanging bridges etc, things carved out of netherack) and 2 new Nether mobs.

Fikk melding av Jerg at serveren hadde blitt griefed, og da jeg logget på var båten til Jennamuse og mitt fyrtårn ødelagt.
Jerg sa også at huset hans hadde blitt ødelagt.
Ifølge loggen var Steffen, Ole og Mambo pålogget samtidig som det hadde blitt griefet.
Chatloggen hadde også en melding der Mambo selv sa at han hadde griefet.

Jeg skal unbanne deg og Steffen men hvis noe lignende skjer en gang tid så kan jeg desverre ikke la dere spille på min Minecraft server.
Er ikke hyggelig å se huset ditt i TNT ruiner.

as for the mambo issue in your position i would ban him/her and if he/she is a NBR member or a friend of a member he/she will most likely come here and try to find out why said ban was issued. Give the guy/gal a chance to explain him/herself and decide if said griefing was done maliciously or not. maybe you might want to create a little rules of the server thing on the first post. I honestly believe no griefing is an implied rule until further notice but you never know how others minds work

Also dont be too quick to rule the others out from being griefers either since they did nothing to stop it (ie: report it) again this may all fall under they might have not known so give em a chance to explain if any action is taken against them.

For those with a keen mind i do realize that mambo may be in fact as innocent as the others but with all current "evidence" pointing to him/her that is the only logical solution in my opinion. also something must be done to stop this (may even prevent it in the future.) The only thing i can think of the isnt as harsh as an instant perm ban is to put a message when people sign in saying something like this "This message is to (person/s "under suspicion." On (date here) You will be permanently banned from this server for (reason here) that was committed on (date here). You are given until the (date here) to explain your actions at (link here) and your ban may be reconsidered by the almighty DEagleson. (ok that last part doesnt need to be there )

Again these are just my suggestions, ultimately the decision is up to you DEagleson. I'll stop being minecraft police now

 

That sounds fair, but its too bad that vanilla Minecraft doesent support custom ban messages.

Because since you all know eachother in real life, one of your friends could "loan" you Minecraft account to wreak havoc on the server as revenge for getting banned.
I am truly sorry and like i said in the previous post you and your brother steffen are unbanned now.

 

There should be a way to change the spawn location of a grief player. Don't ban them....just change their spawn location to a glass cage filled with lava. Then we can all just watch the griefier spawn and fall....spawn and fall....spawn and fall, etc. Or set their spawn to 1 block really high up in the clouds .

Put a sign on the wall that says "Visit forum to repute griefing charges"

Nice find, but even with all the new stuff like new nether stuff and NPC villagers i dont think we should upgrade the server just yet.
But do note that when 1.9 releases i will probably delete all the map chunks outside spawn town and more populated areas to generate the new 1.9 biomes ect.
