That is based on Doku High (as stated) Im slowly moding it to my liking like making the swords long & thin like real broad swords. The short fat stubby ones by default drive me nuts.

Wow, I can see how it's addicting now. lol. Now that I've built my man-cave, I need to find more food, coal, and other essentials before I do too much more. Where's a good place to find coal so I can make a gazillion torches? Or is there a better/easier way?

Well, you can use charcoal instead of coal of everything that uses coal. You make charcoal buy smelting wood in a furnace.

Thanks, lol. I figured fire should be pretty basic stuff.

Also, I died and went back to the main "island" I guess. Have no clue where my digs are that I just spent a couple hours creating. Any idea how I find it?

My guess is that you made your creations somewhere around there.
Just use the awesome minecart rail system (tm) and you will get there in no time. :D

How'd you manage the underwater structure? I've tried but can't seem to figure out how to build it out. I'll be happy to help you make glass and lay it if you can help me connect to my spot.

You can use the ovens in my place too. I need to get a mod to give me mah tools back because I need to continue building the place up and also pwn a skeleton in my basement (I think it was because of HT once inhabited that place before I did and caused a small chasm for creeps to spawn in. Thanks HT!).

wups, sorry. Probably because I had no clue what I was doing. Still don't. lol. But how did you know I was there? I didn't build a "home" until just today.

Is there a "bottom" to this world? I kept digging down until I got to some rock that I couldn't break through.

I built a very crude cave that extends into a small room thats underwater. I think I'm goint to try to extend it as far as I can. Need more glass. I couldn't get a door to work on my palce, though.

Well a few days ago we saw caves that were lit up and some crevices that looked man-made. I heard DEagle spawn you a location around the isles for you to hermit around so...

I discovered the crevice when I was building my home upwards, but I didn't totally filled it in at the time, so now I think a skeleton spawned there and its noise is annoying me.

No worries, I just need to get a new set of diamond tools that aren't glitched and I will fill that hole up. No worries.

Also, the indestructible rock is bedrock and it is purposely there so you don't hit the Nether realm! :p We got portals for that part!

Well the mods gave me some diamond tools to start with, but to actually get diamond tools you need to farm for diamonds, which are usually located in small clusters 15 tiles down from the sea level of most regions.

I tend to normally use iron tools as they are durable enough for long-tiime use without going to deep into the map. However to be fair, you should as a mod for a set. They understand that using stone tools will take forever for you to farm outright the resources you need for a house and they are really nice about it too. It is just to a recent glitch that they can disappear after one use, so I keep nagging them to keep replacing my defective set.

You need stone pickaxes to mine coal and iron ore; smelt iron ore to get iron bars to make iron pickaxes; you need iron pickaxes to mine diamonds; diamonds are used to make diamond pickaxes; you need diamond pickaxes to mine obsidian; obsidian is used to make portals to nether.

It's a whole tiered gear progression you see.

Also, Iron appears in all levels from bedrock up to sea level in ore veins in stone; diamond on the other hand only appears in the bottom-most 10 or 15 block levels counting from bedrock I think (where lava resides, so its quite risky of course).

Hah, I'll ask. I got the door to work, too. I figured that it would be easier for my "house" to be a cave underground, so that I only have to clear blocks, instead of place them too. Its a VERY simple place, but it works. Where is your place? I've only explored maybe a quarter of the map, not counting the Nether.

The "disappearing tools" bug was fixed in 1.6.5 patch today, I think.

Nevertheless, iron is easy to mine, you just need to look for very deep large cave systems - hitting one of these systems can yield you a few dozen iron ores and possibly even a few diamonds.

It wasn't fixed very well because right now if you die or drop a used tool, after you pick it up, it will break on the first use. It is very annoying.

well it takes a very long time but what i do to make my underwater rooms is to first dig out the outline of the room i want to make. then once thats done you lay your glass tiles making the walls and ceiling. once you finish that you have to make yourself an air bubble inside using a torch and two pieces of ladder. once you have your air bubble you then fill in the entire interior of your room with something (i use dirt) dig it out and the water will be gone.

the air bubble design i use looks like this for inside a room

    []<--- ladder piece
    []<--- torch
    []<--- ladder piece

another design i use is for inside walls. i use this one mainly to help build the outside walls and ceiling of the room so i dont have to constantly surface for air. this one is usually located in the ocean walls. it looks like this (x= ladder y=torch)

    [][][]
    []t x
    [][]x
    [][][][][]

hopefully you understand what i mean other wise ill just have to show you how :p

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I think I'll just make something with a glass block ceiling under the lake, then work my way around it. I started that, dug just below the lake and then dug out the block and replaced quickly with a glass block. Water doesn't move too fast if you're expecting it, and isn't too hard. Servers down at the moment though, so can't give it a try.

Glad to hear your catching on and having fun.

Coal was a big challenge for me at first but now I have so much I dont know what to do with it.

I started just by looking for caves at the surface, and even some rocky faces of mountains have coal in them.

This will get you enough torches to go explore a cave and once your in a cave there is usually just tons upon tons of coal.

I use stone tools for everything because stone is infinite, I save my iron for stuff I need iron for (I used my iron for one pick axe till I got diamonds, and I made armor with it because I hated dying in a cave system)

You slowly step your way up the games "rungs" until you have the equipment and experience needed to go pretty much anywhere.

Then you can do what you like to do best , be it build things, or go cave diving.

Doors are placed on the floor of the block you want them to sit above. Typically, you place them from the "outside" of your house, so that monsters can't attack you through them, but I think notch fixed that bug in on of the release notes for 1.6.

If you're still having trouble when clicking on the floor to place a door, it might be because your floor is made out of a non-placeable material (such as glass. You can't fasten much to glass....like ladders and doors won't work). It has to be a different material for it to actually stick.

Yes, it once just fine. then when I went back on, the switch wouldn't work as in it wouldn't switch the direction the cart went, and in another spot it wouldn't launch the cart at all. this is all at the main spawn.

Working now, I think someone fixed it? Thanks.

Big glitch though, see this huge gaping hole by my residence. Someone divided by zero I guess. lol. Probably Star Forge getting back at me for putting a skelton in his closet. Did that skeleton ever come out of the closet or is it still pretending to be a straight skelly? :p

Took out my chests of stuff. :( And tons of monsters are gathering around my house. I also get random damage in the house even though there's nothing around.

Yeah I just fixed the rail a while ago.

    I found a few problems.

1.) Red Stone completely removed from the first junction switch so it would not work and one piece of track removed just patch the track junction.

2.) Red Stone completely removed from the second junction activation switch and one piece of track removed just past the track junction.

3.) I had 5 or 6 carts on the track randomly that will cause people to get stuck or bumped backwards when riding.

So nobody mess with the rail please :D and if you get off mid ride or something just look down while in the cart and attack it a few times, it will break the cart down into an item so you can keep it or leave it but also not mess up the track.

I may get motivation to make the entire cart a loop system with 2 tracks going each way this will prevent people from running into each other on the 1 way track and may help with the rouge cart issue as well.

PS Wingnut go visit the Viking Kingdom @ old spawn (look for the town in the sky with long stairs and the waterfall) if you want to see a pit go look under my waterfall.
