We do have a mod that nerfs them.
-
-
Yeah, good thing, because I would have been a little irritated having to rebuild for every creeper that blew up around my digs. At one point I had three hanging out at my residence. If you time it right, you can just walk up to them, hear them sizzle and step back and only take 1 or 1.5 health damage.
-
Actually, if you're not lagging too badly and you time it well, you can hit them as soon as you're in range to do so, and they'll sizzle as they fly back, but they'll end up out of range and cancel the detonation entirely. Two hits from a diamond sword will kill them, so you can just hit one, wait for its detonation timer to cool down, and hit it one more time.
By far the most reliable way to kill them without setting them off is with a bow and arrows; you can take them down from well outside their trigger radius, and damage on its own does not trigger them. It takes 5 arrows to kill a creeper.
Actually, you can get a skeleton to kill a creeper for you, which will award you with a record that you can play in-game. The easiest way to do that is to hit a creeper with 4 arrows yourself, and then get it to chase you and put it between yourself and a skeleton, and let the skeleton get the last shot in as it tries to shoot you. -

As much as i hate having my stuff blown up, I like creeper damage since its probably the only exciting and random aspect of the game.
-
I also enjoy the Creeper ambushes. ;D
But as long as we run a build map il keep them nerfed.
Random crater hater. -
If I have a diamond sword I always go rambo with creepers. Two quick strikes = problem solved, I never backtrack after the first hit.
You just gotta click really fast, the swing speed just depends on that. -
I just avoid them altogether. With my laggy 3G internet, half the time they explode and damage me from 20 blocks away
-
Looks like the damage is back though. I was on earlier today and creepers took out quite a bit of my stuff.
-

Its off right now
-
Ok, good!
Once I'm done screwing around with making my stuff
look pretty, oh so pretty, then maybe I'll start actually making some decent armor and weapons.
-
Is the server running slow/laggy for anyone else? I'm getting a lot of timeouts pinging the IP address in cmd, and the replies I do get are generally around 550ms...
Pretty sure I used to only get 200ms, give or take a little. -
It was last night for the short time I was on. Plus those damn creepers keep destroying my stuff.
Last night it was laggy, I'd be standing under a tree chopping at it and the lag would warp the tree back and damage me horribly.
For anyone that hasn't stopped by my digs in a while, swing by the pyramid, updated swanky digs with floor level balcony, second level fireplace furnished with couch and chair, and third level bedroom.
Thanks to Vicious for the fire and uckfred for the sugarcane to make my bookshelves.
-
Im going to check that out ASAP. Soumds awesome!
-
Updating and stuff now.
zMod is at v0.8.4!
Edit: Seems Creeper nerf is disabled under a certain limit on the map, so they still blow up underground. -
So, I sort of detonated an island yesterday...

Before
Not Bad
There goes the Neighborhood

I used a solid sphere of TNT 32 blocks in diameter. It did the job I think
@Prydeless: haha, that about sums it up. -
I saw you guys messaging about it in game last night. Too bad I wasn't close enough or I would have come by.

Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
It is a good thing you didn't cause it will make you lag like heck and you got to like disconnect for a few minutes the stabilize the region before you logon, otherwise it was constant chunk errors everywhere. I think today the region is still a bit wonky when it was being rendered. -
I got terraria last week and noticed it is 1000x more fun than minecraft.
The initial part is limited and frustrating, but if you can get past that it is really compelling and addicting -
I was wondering about that. It looks almost like a 2D minecraft but with actual gameplay and goals. Maybe I'll pick that up sometime.
-
I've been enjoying it. It plays a lot more like an rpg or Adventure game where you are trying to make or find new weapons to explore harder areas than a building game. I do like minecraft more for make awesome buildings though.
-
I'm interested in it too... Opinions? Anyone know a good server? It's only $10, pretty good.
-
Terraria is more exciting than Minecraft but dries up faster (since the goal is items and gear and leveling up HP/mana rather than perpetually building buildings), I played it for 5 days, had a lot of fun, but at the end of the 5 days there was nothing more to play in that game.
-
lol. I just went back in and half my lower deck was gone, and part of my upper floor. Looks like creepers at the bottom, and didn't realize the fireplace would burn through my wood floor above it. It didn't for a while after I placed the fire until I got back on today. But then rebuilt it and it caught fire right away. Sandstone burns too. Only thing I had was cobblestone or glass.

LLLOOOOLLL!
I realized what it is, is if the base (beneath what you're burning) is a burnable block (like wood), then it will travel through all the burnable material. It doesn't have to be above it. -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
If you need stuff to recover just let one of the op's know and we can just spawn your emergency relief supplies in no time. >.< -
In fact, we *might* be able to build you a new floor. The "raise" command lets you build a layer of a certain radius and material, but as far as I know it only lets you do that in perfectly circular areas.
-
I went on and couldn't mine, logged off, and it worked, but crashed every few minutes... Odd.
-
Are you getting the "end of stream" disconnect? I've been getting that every time I've logged in today, although it stopped after about 6 crashes.
I'll go restart the server. -
It dosent give an error, just a file on my desktop about it.
-
Thanks, I did it NP.
I blame it on the after affect from all that TNT.
Here's the aftermath.

Might be a client side issue. Try playing Minecraft in the browser instead of the exe.
-
Sorry about burning houses.
zMod does not have a entry that will disable it.
I could change back to bukkit but then we would lose the great uptime.
All i need to do now is just "/update check" to find latest update with changelog, then finish off with "/update download".
Then at next /restart the server is updated.
Regarding the "End of Stream" error, thats a network error.
May be low bandwidth, high ping or packet loss.
Use latest Java runtime and if nessesary play from a browser.
Last time i got network errors was with the old US host.
I been so busy lately (Work + GBA on Android) so i dont really have the time to check the server, so heres a thank you to the mods and the rest of the community.
If you got any friends that want to join, PM me and il try to add them. -

I will try to fix the lake when I have time, but I have mended most of the damages due to TNT on DEagle Isles itself. However, I don't know what would be the fate of Mining Island next door after Shroom blew it to pieces...
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Do not change back to bukkit, id rage and go blow up your island
J/K but fire is a normal thing just like creepers, without a bit of risk the game would kinda go stale.
You can always build your entire house out of obsidian
then your pretty much good against everything.
I got room in the new Viking Palace too if somebody wants to room with me. I'll work on filling the rooms with decorations and stuff later today if I have time.
BTW you have to see the palace with my texture pack its sooo much better especially the main great room when you come in. -
If needed i can reset the map and upload the old if the map begins to lag because of TNT.
I was hoping i could delay a map reset until Minecraft 1.7 if nessesary. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Id hope that TNT would have have effects like that to cause us to lose progress. I have been building 4+ hours a day the last few days.
You pyromaniacs go blow stuff up in single player so you dont kill the server. -
Agree with that.
Single blocks of TNT for mining use is okay but spamming can be done in SSP with singleplayer commands mod. -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
I think that would be great as the Mining Island is becoming an eyesore and I now know a better way to demo the canal safely and rebuild it.
I think as long you do it AWAY from the populated regions, it would be fine. The lag comes from the rendering of the cratered mess that really puts MC at the pressure of how to render the mess in addition the constantly changing regions right next to it due to heavy user activity.
If you do it like at a place no one will ever go to in the realm, I think the lag won't occur because people most likely won't go there for a long time and if no one goes to the blast site, the server doesn't need to render it at all.
Also I think it would be helpful to any new people who join our community to know who the OP's are in the server. Would be great if you list all the current OP's on the first page as a reference. -
Il do that.
Also it is possible to copy paste creations into a new map. -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Then that should be a good idea to do as well. Might as well start fresh and make sure mass TNT temptations don't happen in the populated regions. -

Try "/white add (playername)". -

Yes I can add TitanGod via the command. You sure about this DEagle?
-
I dont see any reasons why not. xD
-
Hey Deagle, can you remove areas? I created one around my spleef arena, but now that it's built, I can't delete the area, and it's protected so nobody else can destroy blocks, which defeats the entire purpose :/
According to /help, the /amod command works with these parameters: /amod [area name] [add/remove/list/move/high].
All of those options work except "remove", which just spits back "Invalid entry!". "Move" and "high" are accepted, but don't appear to do anything. I'd be fine with leaving the area if I could change the permissions so everyone can destroy inside the area, but I can't seem to do that.
Halp? -
Il check it out when i get home.
Should be a easy fix.
