Well actually im more than happy with 70 odd cars, but when people see forsa3 & GT5's lineup i can see NFS Shift being heavily critisized for lack of selection. The good thing about having a huge lineup is one can really play around with the different car setups, after a certain amount of time one knows the tracks backwards then its time to build up your garage and finetune those cars to each track......but hey as i said im more than happy with the selection.

lol seriously...? 7/10 same score as what they gave NFS Undercover? Shift is obviously a lot better than Undercover. Even if some of their complaints are valid I would give this no less than 8/10. Fail review. >.>
I read the GS review and watched their video review and they mentioned nothing about driving in the cockpit view which is what Shift is mostly about...
The footage in the video review are mostly about how the guy kept screwing up in 3rd person view lol. :p

i do agree with the gamespot review in terms that Shift has terrible sound tracks and a bare bone career mode. also the game is pretty exploitable since you can level up your profile and earn money just by play quick races with no AI cars. other than that, it's impossbile to play in cockpit view without maps and best lines, i think more HUD configurable options would be nice, right now you either turn everything on or off, but i just want the map and nothing else.

Ive come to not trust gamespot reviews , i really like the site but have become increasingly discouraged by some of their reviews, sometimes they seem to pick the wrong person for the job.....ie why give a review project to someone that doesn't like the genre.

I honestly was recently going to make an thread about that in particular.

I noticed gamespot ALWAYS ranks Wii games low as hell. Any time you check wii game reviews from multiple sites, they seem like they are always giving the absolute lowest score for that particular game.

Played a little more and now I'm onto the Tier 2 cars & events. I love the handling of the cars in this game... :)

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
    Infiniti G35...................Nissan Skyline GT-R.......BMW M3 E92

I played a few races with each of them (all fully upgraded) and to my surprise I actually like the handling of the Skyline a lot because it turns and slides better than the other 2 even though the car's specs seem to say it's got worse handling & acceleration than the others...

I haven't played a racing game in a good while.

    So far...
    Fun, fast, decent challenge.
360 controller works by default out of the box.

Loading times are rough, and the lack of HUD customization bothers me.

But other than that I'm enjoying Shift, I need some practice though, very realistic; one wrong move and you're on the wall & turned around backwards :D

always liked the skyline, i remember when it raced at Bathurst (many years ago) with its four wheel drive, it calved up the field of V8's like they where morris minors, great fun.

Agreed. My Logitech Cordless RumblePad 2 works perfectly fine with this game too. :) Other than what you just said I found the replay system & camera angles decent but not as good as the ones in GRID.
I have no idea.. That sounded really cool though. :p
    Yes of course.

Well I would assume the skyline would perform better on the track on turns due to it being a all wheel drive and the other two are rear wheel drive.

    I tried it out...

Not my thing. I hated GRiD and I hate this. Plus, it takes forever to load, the car selection is low, and it crashes a lot on both my computers. When it's not crashing, it's not running well, even with low settings and resolution.

Does anybody else feel like there's a lag in input as well?

So does the Logitech RumblePad 2 have pressure sensitive triggers?
Like for accelerating and breaking, you can gradually increase and decrease car speed.

    Thanks!

Yea but I wasn't expecting that coz the in-game car's specs says otherwise. (the Skyline's specs says it has worse handling  out of those 3 cars if you compare those screenshots)
Sorry to hear that. Mine runs perfectly and never crashes. hmm... maybe there's a slight input lag in the menus but when I'm driving I didn't experience any input lag.
Nah it doesn't have pressure sensitive triggers unfortunately. The only thing that's pressure sentive are the 2 analog sticks. But then again I'm doing fine without the pressure sensitive triggers on the xbox 360 controller so I'm not complaining. :p

Gamespot review is crap. Complaining about the absolute first race in the game just seems so petty.

This game rocks, just played a little but controls feel nice, graphics are awesome, and it is lag and crash free on my set up. Maxed settings x4 antialiasing.

I really like the cockpit view with no hud, it the closest I have have felt to really driving a car in a video game.

Really? I won all the Tier 1 races too and I'm finding the Tier 2 races pretty easy (@ medium AI difficulty)... :p

I spent a few hours testing out each Tier 2 car to find out what suits me the most though. (Did lots of buying, fully upgrading + "works conversion", test on a track & then selling..lol)
    and here's what I found...
The Lotus Elise 111R has the best handling out of all the Tier 2 cars by far but it has a relatively slow top speed (but more than enough to easily win the events for me coz it has awesome brakes+handling+acceleration :p).
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution has the second best handling closely followed by the Nissan Skyline GT-R.

And a few upgrade screens here ;)
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution (fully upgraded without works conversion)

well, i'm using a tier 1 car, the Nissan 350z i believe, with everything available upgraded and has like above 8 rating but it handles horribly. i usually have to brake early before getting on the yellow lines and still spin out of the tracks. is it the car's problem? i thought the cars are just too fast for me to handle.

Oh I see. I'm pretty sure it's the car's problem. I tried the 350Z as well but even after fully upgrading it the handling was pretty bad so I ended up selling it. The Infiniti G35 is a better choice if you wanted to use a Tier 1 car. Otherwise go grab yourself a Tier 2 car coz they're just better & cooler. :p Although try not to get the Tier 2 370Z because that car's handling isn't good as well. lol

agree, not worth the time to read to be honest.

nice idea turning the hud off, hadnt thought of that option but wil definately try it when the game arrives.

love racing sims where you are constantly tweaking the cars setup to get it feeling right for you......still quite jealous that you guys are playing the game, my copy still hasn't arrived yet........

Not sure if it's me, but this game definately feels different to other simulators, handling and feel of the cars feel very buggy, and sort of delayed, i keep losing control and spinning it, try bring cars back the other way and i just lose it.

chase cam is weird too, when the car moves, hard to explain, but dont feel right.

Yesterday, I was playing this game for a really long time. After I bought the game I went straight home and started to play it! It's a really good game but it's not the best of the series. I found it to be very hard but that's a good thing because it will make me to keep playing the game until I finally beat it!
I don't have time for a long review but it was definitely worth the money :p
