Anyways i played it........................I LOVE IT!! Very realistic i got a mixed vibe of GT and Forza in one(A very good thing) It was like the best of both. Im definitely picking this up that is official

 

haha... I actually don't like driving those American muscle cars coz I hate how you need to brake really early everytime if you don't want to mess up those corners, and also how they could easily get out of control most of the time.

Just finished most of Tier 2 (except the drift events) and moved up to Tier 3 now.
Tested out most of the Tier 3 cars and really loving the Nissan GT-R. Nothing come close to its uber handling.
The Audi R8 has the second best handling out of the Tier 3 cars closely followed by the Porsche 911 GT2 (that thing is sexy... )

 

Meh, this is just Pro Street undercover, pun not intended.

But I do like Pro Street, I just hope the whole game isn't a track racing simulator like Grid and that there's still this street racing vibe (like Pro Street's).

Aside from that, GT5 is going to be my baby (unless I get a 360 and Forza 3).

Anyone playing it on a ATI card? I DL the demo and it crashes when the race just starts? Anyone else have that issue, specs of my system are below.

Anyways this game is pretty awesome definitely one of the best NFS games since Most Wanted. In my opinion the last three NFS games (carbon, prostreet, and undercover) was too boring and sucked especally prostreet and undercover to me

yep, Nissan GT-R is my Tier 3 choice as well. for Tier 2 i end up using one of the T1 FWD cars

 

Its the car that started initial D. That was the car Keiichi Tsuchyia was drifting at the touge, before drifting was legalized as a sport.

Found myself using a Tier 2 car in the Tier 3 races coz I just discovered that the "works converted" Lotus Elise 111R (from Tier 2) has like the fastest acceleration speed and also the fastest braking speed out of all the Tier 1,2,3 cars. It's handling is surprisingly good too (for such a fast car). You should try it out sometime.

i stayed away from work converts since i try new cars pretty often and you don't get those money back, which is usually 200,000 bucks or more.

Did you change the GFX settings before you started a race?

 

Online mode is quite good, you have a Versus mode, which allows you to do races and drift mode with other people, the drift mode, however, you're on your own. you go round a little drift track whichever you set, and you have the best of three goes to get your points the highest, whoever gets the highest. wins.

There is also Driver Duel, its like a tournament, you start at level 1, it puts you agaisnt another driver, to race certain tracks, like the first one, is a mini oval, the computer gives you the car, so you don't choose, but its best of two rounds, if you win, you then go on to level 2, which gets harder etc....

You also level you're driver up with little emblems on you're name etc, gets bigger as you get higher in the rankings.

 

I always do the works conversion because the cars are usually a lot better after converting. It doesn't matter much to me coz I always sell the cars after I tried them so I'm getting all my money back anyways. (that's how I managed to try out most of the cars before deciding which one I like the most)
(when you sell your upgraded car you get all the money you spent on it including the upgrades & works convert costs)

oh really, i had a message come up before a do the work conversion telling me there is no refund for work conversion, it could very well be my imagination though

i like the idea of driver duel, seems as though some thought has gone into the online aspects of the game.

 

Yea I saw that message too. I think it's trying to say you can't get the refund for the works conversion alone but I found out that when you sell the car you get all the money back.
You can back up your saves (in the "My Documents\NFS SHIFT" folder) and try it out if you're afraid of losing your money.

 

I played after i installed it and it worked fine. But when i went to play again it also crashed right after the race starts?

 

If this game get's good reviews, I may just buy it along with an Xbox 360 controller.

I don't really like the fact that whenever a brilliant game is released in a series that outshines everything else before it, it's considered a series restart.

This is just evolution, the series wasn't really hindered (aside from Undercover, which I've yet to play more than ten minutes) at all as Most Wanted, Carbon and Pro Street were brilliant.

Though I do look to attaining my M17x and then loading up Shift on it (or getting it for my PS3, whichever comes first), as it looks amazing, and the promised customization is even better (which brings me to ask, can anyone comment on how deep is the customization?).

 

lol, so I ve been playing online mode for the last 2 days ... and its unplayable!! I found awesome drivers so I added them as friends but there is no option to join them in a race or even to send them messages!! you can only view their profile!! rubbish. Also, the most annoying thing is that if you join a session and everyone voted to go you cant exit!! the game wont let you!!! now that would be fine if there were no bugs in the match making system. I want to play drift so I select drift but the game joins me to a an oval race!!! !!?? and I cant quit ofcourse, so I have to wait until everyone one joins and the match begins just to quit!! and here's another thing!! IF you quit during the game it counts as if you lost the round so your online ranking goes down!! absolutely rubbish!! I won every single event online, yet the game says I love 8 of em. which ofcoruse were my quits from a stupid match that the game decided me to join and I couldnt quit!! And I m dead serious!!! There is no way of quitting a match unless you do alt+ctrl+del and restart the game!! Today I join a game and the lobby leader decided to vote for all of us but he went AFK!!! !!?? so none of the 8 players couldn't do anything except watch the screen and chat. We all did alt+ctrl+del and had to restart the game. There are tons of other bugs online. Unless there is a patch coming NFS Shift online is a disgrace!!

 

Well i agree with the reviewers, need for speed had lost its way basically turning out the same old stuff and to be honest not doing a very good job of it, im guessing EA had an idea this was happening which is why the went with an outside development team, the end result is the rebirth of the series...where thought has gone in, new ideas have been applied and the final product seems to be appreciated by the consumer.

 

customization sucks. Its the same as it was in NFS underground I. You buy turbo stage I. II, II! no explanation of what each bring under the hood. All you know its stage I, II or III. same with everything else. They said the cockpits are customizable. rubbish. you can only select cockpit stage I, II or III. you have no control over what game does to your engine or how the cockpit looks. The only good thing is the tuning option. here I can really set everything the way I like. Tire pressure, down force, brake balance etc etc.

 

yea i put eveything on low, so it looks like crap... which is something i dont want or i guess ill have to wait till I get a better laptop or pc to play this game.

It seems EA can't get anything into their heads. Why do you throw out what works? Why lose the customization we had in Underground 2? I give up.

What, what, what? That's completely ridiculous. This game deserves at least a 7/10 from everybody! I'd give it an 8 because it's a hard game which is good.

 

Yeah I have played quite a few racers in the past, and although this isn't the best of them, it certainly is better than any other NFS game. The one complaint i have is the handling of RWD cars. They seem to have gone a little far with their handling capabilities.

A lot of the reviews hating on the game I have read have been that it is not a "undergroundish" game. They feel its a need for speed game and its not on the streets so it sucks. Thing is you should know what you are buying...shift isnt a street racing and never clamed it was. Others dont like the controls. It is a mix between arcade and sim so I can understand, but the controls definetly are not bad. They allow you to throw the car around a turn and shoot between two cars just bairly making a clean pass at almost 100mph...so ya the controls arent bad, it may just not fit your driving preference.

All I have to say is know what you are buying before you buy it and you likely wont have the issues most of the complainers are having.

 

I was personslly tired of the crappy plots and boring free-roaming of the last couple of games, so NFS:S is probably my favorite, tied with Most Wanted. It's always the coolest thing when you get in a crash, as your vision blurs and you don't know what the HELL is going on. I also like the handling better, it shouldn't be as easy to turn as it is in the other games.

I cant create the legendary EA BMW(M3) car in Shift. Wheres my customization,sheesh no side mufflers for the bmw either.
