Signed..this is outrageous. We've been able to overclock fine for a long time, don't see the point in them doing this now. AMD better step up their mobile gpu game soon.

guys, it would be great if you could also follow up on this link and take part in MySn´s survey concerning GPU overclocking in notebooks:

    https://de.surveymonkey.com/s/SXRL6SQ

This could really make a difference if vendors like MySn lean on Clevo to in turn put pressure on Nvidia for unlocking overclockability again!

+ rep for starting the petition - I've signed!

All people disgusted by NVidia's recent move to disable overclocking on mobile GPU's, please sign up to that petition - it's really easy to join up, just an e-mail address and password basically (just took me 1 min for me to do it - I'd never signed a petition before).

haha, I just downloaded 347.52 the newest Nvidia driver.
Modded the inf to include my GTX 970M as usual. Ran the install unsigned driver thingy. Then ran the installer.
My screen went all black, not flickering like it usually does when installing a new driver, but black. Nothing happened after that. It stayed black. Had to hold in the powerbutton. Then Geforce Experience crashed and was stuck on my screen. The 347.52 driver wasnt even installed I think.

Had to do a DDU. Man, what a mess. Have Nvidia imploded in just sillyness lately? This is getting annoying

Probably something changed in the reg settings of the inf.

You will need to follow through to all of the subsections and double check with your previous working inf.

If you send me both infs and your hardware ID I can have a look for you.

I tried something new though this time.
Before I just replaced 780M with 970M plus IDs.
This time I added new 970M but with IDs of the AW18. And used the same section as 970M that was already in there (for AW15 and AW17).

It could be why it crashed maybe? :p
Allright, I`m gonna give it another go

Apparantly you can make the screen go black by editing the INF :p

The newest driver works now if I keep the sections untouched.

Don't fight them though, if anything try to win them over to get support. Sometimes desktop owners have the opinion that laptop gaming is irrelevant, pathetic, poor performance, etc - some don't know how good laptops have become, and some just like to argue. Either way, I think that if Nvidia starts locking down mobile GPUs, then it's more likely to spread to the desktop arena. I've been trying to take that tack to gain some support and signatures for iaTa's petition. (We all know desktop gaming at it's apex is better performance than laptop gaming, so there's no need to try and defend that point).

Haha, hopefully, we'll see, but I think it's true though, possible the cancer could spread more into desktops to lock them down more too - lets stop the rot here! Only 16 more signatures required, but guess it would be even better to surpass the requirements!:

Ladies and gentlemen, lets get this twitter campaign going. Badly behaving corporations are very influenced by negative PR twitter campaigns nowadays, we can't let this slide. Things will only get worse. Lets give nvidia shareholders some panic.

Competition is a crucial element in us not being shafted on all of this. The more competition there is, then the more features and the more benefits that each company has to offer - not taking away overclocking for instance! I'd definitely buy AMD if they offer up something good, and if NVidia continue to keep overclocking locked on mobile then I'd buy AMD even if it was slightly slower (I would make up the difference in overclocking, plus I wouldn't be supporting Nvidia, a company that is closing down it's hardware - they're losing one of their best assets in this debacle, great overclocking ability).
