I believe I read Nv saying the 680m is up to 50% faster than 580m, so this means 680MX is up to 10% faster than a 680m, and I believe that number was thrown around before. However, they will need to redo their figures when it comes to the 12.11 drivers and 7970m, that 30% won't fly now, but 10-15% all around would not be so out of scale for marketing jibber jabber.

Yeah, there is no immediately to buy 680M now that you have the 7970M and the 12.11 driver.

The games chosen will always make or break a chart and it's up to the user to research the type of games one plays. I find in that chart, AMD is winning or equal with the games I play (Sniper Elite V2, Sleeping Dogs, Dirt(s), Max Payne 3, Skyrim, BF3, Batman: AC), pretty much racing and shooting and those 8 games have a 2% advantage to 680m (that's 306.xx vs 12.9HF) and a 3.68% advantage to the 7970m if I remove Batman: AC. I believe I read Sleeping Dogs alone has reported a large increase from 12.9HF to 12.11B, haven't tested myself yet and I only went from 12.8whql to 12.11b3 anyway.
All in all, new tech is good fun to put into perspective.

Stop spinning things. 46.2 vs 42.1 is not 2% difference to take just one example (and see the 12.9 hotfix vs 12.11, BF3 went down a bit from 42.1 to 40.8. So its 46.2 vs 40.8 still not 2% ). But whatever, believe what you want.
Anandtech tested the 7970M vs the 680M with 12.9 hotfix. A driver you guys never had a chance to test out. It turns out this driver performed 2% better than the 12.11 driver you guys are using now, so this chart is what counts TODAY. Its that simple.

GTX 680MX is what this thread is aboutClick to expand...It's not spin, it's math to the game preferences of an individual gamer which is clearly stated. If that's spin, then we can say Jarred is spinning it to because of the 15 games selected. My 8 games are a completely fair representive reduction to the 15 he did. A respected reviewer, his results are not dogma.
Get a grip man and read, "those 8 games have a 2% advantage to 680m", as in add up the reported FPS of those 8 games and divide by 8 (you know, like they are doing for 15 games to get 22%), how can you not see that's what I did. That chart is what I used to get the numbers, but that chart isn't what "counts TODAY" because it is the 12.9HF chart and aren't you trying to stipulate that 12.11 lost performance to 12.9HF.
"BF3 went down a bit from 42.1 to 40.8" Dirt 3 gained 4.2% from 12.9HF to 12.11b, see I can pick one game to, even though I realize you just didn't understand what I did with the 8 game avg.
or whatever, read what you want. Don't get on your persecuted high horse, you're not ending anything. -

So much garbage about 7970m vs 680m atm when the thread is about 680mx....
7970m with latest driver is on par of 680m, sure some games nvidia does better and the same for the 7970m, no 1 benchmark is 100% accurate here because it depends on games listed for the benchmark, i can create a benchmark with certain games showing that 7970m 20% faster etc
Question is regarding 680mx
I expect it to be 20% faster otherwise nvidia wouldn't have bothered to release it, and no this is not a rebrand situation , this is a new legit card etc
Would anyone even bother paying that much to upgrade if you got 680m?
Keep your 680m and 7970m people, the real upgrade is summer 2013 with intel haswell and 780m/8970m
I'm selling my entire laptop and upgrading to Haswell/8970m or 780m next summer , Haswell is officially released between march and june of 2013 according to intel and AMD already said their next GPU releases at Q1 2013 -

Looking at the 670 Vs 680 desktop, hoping for a 20% gain is a bit optimistic.
The 670 was notorious for being only a hair behind the 680. -
Probably because the 680/670 were bandwidth limited though. Judging by the core/bandwidth increases from the 680m to the 680mx, the performance increase should be at least 15% at 1080p.

Some ppl clearly don't believe your second sentence and it all provides a base in which to discuss the 680MX. It's all speculation, guessing, wishful thinking and jibber jabber on the 680MX right now.
I think you clearly under estimate Nv on that 4th sentence, they'd be happy to sell a card that does 5% better for 20% more cost. Look at the cost/perf difference on the desktop 680 vs 670. -

Nvidia would have dropped the 680M core clock a bit more and attached regular voltage ram if it made such an impact to get the most bang per watt. -

At 1920x1200, I've seen what kind of bottleneck my GPU faces at the moment. Need to update the sig but I'm not running the 7970M anymore, back to a 6970M.
The 6970M is bottlenecked by it's memory bandwidth, especially at only 115.2GB/s. For 1GB of Vram that's plenty, more than plenty, but for 2GB that's hardly enough... so I am to believe. >.> -

Well according to dell representative, they already saw it in their manufacturing so I assume its already in that stage. -
If it hasn't been publicly announced, Dell reps don't know either. Dell reps are sales people, they'll tell you what you want to hear.
-
I'm sure once the new iMac is available the 680MX will be available elsewhere. Apple seems to have gotten it specially ordered for the release of their new product, so they have first dibs.
In other words, Apple pre-ordered them, ha ha! -
Btw, contacted alienware support, they had never even heard of the gtx680mx, and had no record in their system of it, and recommended "checking back later"
-
This reminds me of when I was trying to figure out if you could locally buy unlocked iPhone 5s in Canada.
I asked like 5 different support people, who all said yes, even though apple had announced they would only be online.
Also shows the difference between small and big companies.
I asked Ken when the 680mx was first announced and he did not know, so he told me he didn't know.
Alienware support just makes stuff up or doesn't understand, it seems. -
-
Well that's fantastic news!
My M17x R4 is arriving in 3 days with the 680M
-.- -
I spoke with Xotic PC today, as well as Dell, and both of them seem to have very little optimism for the 680MX being available for PC in general. I hope they're wrong, I don't see why NVIDIA would do that if they could expand the market for this GPU and make more money on it, but you never know. I'm also getting tired of waiting...
The temptation is killing me! I want to buy an Alienware with the 680MX already!
P.S. Yes, I did see the chat log in this thread about a Dell rep stating the 680MX would be available by the end of November, but the three reps I've spoken with this week claim they have no idea (you'd think they'd know, right? Oh come on!) or don't expect it to be available. As I said above, I hope they're wrong! -
I too was really hoping for the 680mx cards for Clevo's but its looking very unlikely at this point, even Origin PC stated its exclusive to Imac only :-(
-
We're just months away from beginning to hear about the 780M and 8970M anyway. Why get excited for the 680MX?

Impossible to keep up with this technology anyways, as of right now 2 680m cards in Sli should be able to run the latest games on MAX settings for at least 2 years.
