Anyone tried Ultimate Water FX? Looks stunning :O
http://www.zinertek.com/flightsimulator/ultimatewaterfx.html -

It's almost the same water as in FSX
You're right, no need to install FSX... Wait for new hardware and FS11 -

Here are some videos of it in action. It will pwn everything.

Well it's a long time since this thread has been wrote upon!!
Problem with FSX, Any add on aircraft that I add or that have been added by a specific add on etc. Flying club x, all of the aircraft are unpainted and grey!! The aircraft from fsx and fsx acceleration are all ok. -
Yes!!! I'm ecstatic this thread is back up top! Wish I could you TPhilly, but I never had that problem. Anyone ever up for some Online Flight?
-
I try and get online whenever i can, where i live the net slows down between 5pm and 10pm cos of all the people in the building
-
Ah, okay. Any of you FSX players use Xfire?
-
my xfire name is tphilly1984 if u want to add me
-
For sure man, maybe we can catch a flight sometime. I don't know the Wales time, as I haven't been there in 8 or so years. (It is 4:00pm right now in Texas, United States)

I can't wait to get into FSX again once I build my new computer.
You guys think at Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 OC'ed to 3.0ghz will do it? -
I run it great on my T5550, with the 8800m GTS. Run all on high (not max), aside from traffic and weather, which are on low/mid.
-
right now it's 22:45
I have set to all mid/high, aircraft on ultra high, get around 25-30fps with 8600m gt and t7500 -
I realized I have my aircraft and scenery on Ultra high, graphics on High, the rest as stated earlier, 30-40FPS. (Generally lowers to the mid 30's when approaching ground)
-
also have wales scenery added on which likes to slow it down a touch
-
What is Wales scenery?
-
its an addon scenery that covers the whole of wales gb and south west england, really good detail.
-
Wow, really cool.

Hi,
I have just decided to get a laptop for myself and apart from the regular stuff...i really and badly want to play the flight sim x on it. I know I would not be able to play it at its highest but all i'm looking for is playing it at atleast high-medium levels.Do you think this config would do ?
Current Config in Mind : Thinkpad W500 - T9400 (2.53GHz 1066MHz 6MBL2) - Windows XP Professional 15.4" WSXGA+ TFT, w/ CCFL Backlight - 3 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM - 160 GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 with 512MB VRAM
Let me know if any change to this like spending more on the CPU speed rather than RAM would be more beneficial, then I would shoot up the CPU to T9600 2.8 Ghz, if that $250 is really worth it.
Awaiting a reply....
Thanks -
Does anyone run fsx on a 6860fx with the default processor? What settings do you use?
I'm trying to mess around with the settings to get a good frame rate, but fsx is really demanding... -
-
Sorry if I've bumped an old thread but this topic is in particular interest for me since this is about all the gaming I do is flight simming and I've finally been able to order a new laptop. And naturally I'm chomping at the bit to get a taste for what it could do. Could anyone with similiar specs give an account for how FS2004 performs (with addons such as ActiveSky, WofAI, etc)? Of particular interest is weather since my last system (T7500, 256Mb 8600M GT) really bogged down with the clouds. Here are my specs:
Core 2 DUo T9500 2.6 Ghz (6MB L2/800Mhz FSB)
512MB Nvidia 9800M GT
8GB DDR2-667Mhz RAM
Windows Vista x64
LCD 1440x900
I've just gotta know! Thanks in advance! -
You should be able to max out FS2004 in every way. My system in sig below nearly maxes FSX with a decent overclock. FSX is many times more damanding tnan 2004, so you should be just fine.
-
You might also have to tweak your fs9.cfg, that helps improve the performance of the sim.
-
Yeah, I'm plenty familiar with the tweaks. Don't know if that's good or bad.
-
Hi,
Glad to find a flight sim forum for notebooks users.
I have a question, how improve could a quad 2,0 processor over c2duo 2,26, same specs for video.
I'm choosing between gateway new p-7808 quad and a p7801.
It's worth to pay more and take a quad?
By the way, my only interest will be play FSX.
Thanks a lot -
Dead Thread?

Now to answer your question, a Quad-Core will definitely help with FSX over a Duo, make sure you get at least 4gb RAM and a decent videocard too, preferably Nvidia since FSX tends to run better on Nvidia GPU's.
Make sure you install Service Pack 1 and 2 for FSX after you install FSX. These enhance multi-cpu support. -
I guess it worth pay a little more and get a quad!! -
One more question,
Do I need to install sp1 and 2 if I had installed the Accelaration pack?
Thanks in advance. -
-
Hi everybody!
What the best laptop for FSX (1000-1300$)???
thank you! -
-
Dual core is vital, apparently it doesnt make much use of quad cores. Consensus seems to be that its more processor than graphics card hungry so as Ayle said a 9600m should be fine so long as the cpu is fairly speedy.
FWIW I use a 9800m on a dual core 2.6 and have pretty much everything other than vehicle and other traffic at the highest level. -

With FSX you want the fastest CPU possible, a good Quad-Core does provide a noticeable performance improvement over a Dual-Core CPU.
-
thanks a lot, for your responses...
Conclusion: To play FSX (> Hight, >30 fps and hard scenary's) we need a dual-core and > 9600m... I am right?

"Conclusion: To play FSX (> Hight, >30 fps and hard scenary's) we need a dual-core and > 9600m... I am right?"
From my experience Id say that would play it up to 30fps, not necessarily greater than 30. However, i tend to lock my fps at 30 anyway.

For an accetable experience, your going to want the fastest Dual-Core you can get, 4GB of RAM, and a half decent videocard (9600GT).
Your going to want the fastest Quad-Core you can get and 4GB of RAM, and a good videocard (9800GS/GM) for the best experience.

FSX is a complete ***** when it comes to running with a stable framerate.
-
This system:
-
Should be perfectly adequate with some tweaking - I run everything on max or one click below, aside from traffic where I have no vehicle traffic at all, and aircraft traffic at around 30%.
I suspect if you could get the 9800 card rather than the 9600 for not a huge increase in price it would be worth it for FSX and other games.

Does anybody know how to start in free flight or multiplayer with the engines not running?
I'm getting a bit tired of having to hit the brakes whilst parked at a gate! -
Anyone know how I can pan around my Airplane in Flight Simulator X?
I could do it while pressing the third mouse key (middle) in flight simulator 2004, this wont work in X though.
thanks! -

What settings could I play Microsoft Flight Simulator Gold Edition on my notebook? Specs are below:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8800 (2.66 Ghz) Centrino 2
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT 512mb
RAM: 4GB DDR2
Display: 1920 x 1080
========================================================
Would it be possible to get a higher FPS at a much lower resolution, say 720p? I really want a good flight sim game...Preferably a flight combat sim.

As mentioned before, if you want to add guns, check out IL2 Sturmovik 1946. Can be picked up for $5-10, and is worth every penny if you want flight combat. -

I've heard of IL2, and it's come highly recommended by many people, and I might actually go for it in the end. The problem is, I'm not a big fan of WWI and WWII games. I prefer something a little more modern, like Ace Combat X for the PSP, which I have. But if enough people recommend IL2 for me, I'm definitely going to go for it.
Also, since I want to be absolutely sure before I buy anything, how well could I play IL2 on my system? I'm doing my own independent research, of course, but it always helps to have some input from people who have played the game, or who are experienced in flight sim.
I'm thinking of getting a good joystick to go along with it. Any suggestions? I'm thinking of getting a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Extreme-Joystick-Silver-Black/dp/B00009OY9U/ref=pd_bxgy_vg_img_b
Any input would be appreciated! Thanks! =D
