I posted some links earlier, have you checked those? They're pretty good resources for information.
All the missions are random I believe though. Basically just click around on stations as you fly by them, click C for comms and it'll bring up a list of who's there and if they have a crosshairs next to their name, talk to them. I started as a Terran Defender though. If you started as someone else, then you have a different standing with everyone and started in a completely different area. That might be what's different. I was finding a lot of combat missions below the Terran areas... like in Heretic's End, Omicron Lyrae, etc.

Universal Traders are relatively easy to set up compared to self sufficient space fuel/weed complexes (need like 100 million to invest in first) but they're a pain to level up to the point where they'll actually use jump drives and you won't have them to do everything.
Alternative is to get yourself a good freighter and do remote trading. You can find some really great deals and as long as your start with a decent bankroll that can fill the cargo, you can make decent money. Just buy low and sell high in bulk. -

Ok guys, Warhammer: Dawn of War 2 half off, seems like a good deal.
-
Added to first post (along with the rest of the deal).
-
I'll be picking up Company of Heroes GOLD for $15,
Is DoW:II worth $25? Never heard anything great about it. -
I started out as Terran defender and besides like 2 maybe 3 combat missions they just stopped appearing (last one was that I needed to go to one sector and kill one guy, as soon as I got into the system and found his ship he got killed. got a message from my employer saying that since he was killed by someone else he didn't have to pay me
)
After that I couldn't find anymore combat missions. may try again tonight. -
Where can I get a good sized freighter when I only have a Sabre, Reaper (The one I got from mars) and about 8k credits?
-
I've played both CoH and DoW2 for a long time offline and online and I could tell you that DoW2 is a lot more exciting and fast paced than CoH, but both games IMO are really well done and extremely fun online (if you are decent at RTS games
)
-
Waited so long now for another 50 percent off sale of DoW 2 and finally got it! Also picked up Tales of Valor I thought I never would, but for 15 bucks what the heck. Happy gaming guys!

I have COH and for some reason i couldnt get into it, maybe i didnt give it a chance? I remember playing for day and just saying meh. Warhammer looks awfully interesting though.... -
Just got dawn of war 2 i'm waitting for a long time to get this game but it's too expensive 50% off is a must get
Good graphic gameplay. hardcore battle and more.
-
I love the CoH series. Finally picked up ToV. Didn't want to spend 30 bucks for an add-on.
-
Ahhh yes DOW II, glad this went on sale finally, been wanting to do online stuff
-
CoH is my favourite RTS game, too bad I already own all of them or this would be an amazing deal
-
Nice weekend deal:
The absolute, autonomous, freewheeling, grassroots, nonaligned, nonpartisan, sovereign, unconstrained, uncontrolled, unregimented games pack lol...
http://store.steampowered.com/indiesale
AudioSurf, Blueberry Garden, Braid, Crayon Physics Deluxe, Darwinia, Everyday Shooter, Gish, Mr. Robot, The Path, World of Goo
For $30
I already have Braid, and I think its worth the $15 retail price, so this is a pretty good deal.

Both CoH and WH 40K are quality.
Ladies and germs, do jump on this 50% off offer. -
Unfortunately those deals were for last week, I haven't had time to update this thread yet
I'll update it once I get home from work today. -
Im still debating if I should get those games because I have so many others in a waiting list to play. I kind of want crayon physics but I have world of goo and audio surf. Braid does not really interest me or maybe I saw that youtube vid of souljaboy playing it made it a turn off...lol
-
If I do not have any of the games in this indie package do you guys think it's worth getting? I'm on a semi-tight budget and was considering the 5 game pack, but might as well spend $10 more if anything to get Crayon Physics.
I dunno yet, tough decision. -
The Witcher is discounted until 08/12 IIRC. Buying that now
.
-
prototype 20% off for one week only
pre-purchase red faction guerilla and get the original red faction and red faction 2 for free -
if i wouldnt have already bought DoW2 last weekend....
-
I didn't have any of the games, so I went ahead and picked the $29.99 package.
-
if i had a credit card, i'd buy this right now! damnit! world of goo i've played 80-90% on a friend's comp and totally worth...even if it does have it's frustrating moments. i'd buy this for world of goo & audio surf and then rest are just there for me to discover! wish i could get someone to buy it for me and i pay them back :-/ and the offer is obviously not available through retail so that's another bummer
again, worth it for me. -
Updated (finally)
- Death to Spies: Moment of Truth, Top 10 Indie Titles Pack, Red Faction Guerrilla, Prototype, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut, and Foreign Legion: Buckets of Blood are all discounted

Is anybody else having issues connecting to Steam? I tried playing HL2 earlier, it crashed before it loaded the main menu, and I haven't been able to log into Steam on any computer since then. I was connected yesterday and earlier today so I don't think there's a problem with my router or firewall configuration.
As a side note, the crash seems to have done a number on my Dell. I've already had to reinstall my audio drivers for some reason, and now every time I open up Task Manager, I don't have any menu bar or borders, just the running processes window. I cannot figure out what happened to my computer, and I've already tried restoring registry backups and reinstalling DirectX. -
I'm interested in seeing Steam/Valve revenue data.
Anyone have a link (i tried googling already)? -
I doubt you'd be able to find that info since Valve is a privately held company. I don't think they publish that info.
-
Eve Online is only 5 bucks for the game and first month. PM me for an extended trail.

Not to Hijack the "Steam Deals" thread...but direct2drive has CoD WaW for $25 right now as well.
http://www.direct2drive.com/7130/product/Buy-Call-of-Duty:-World-at-War-Download -
I've found that D2D generally has the same, or very similar, deals as Steam right after Steam has them.
-
Trine is insanely awesome
-
Updated

-
All...So COD WaW deal is over?

I'm going to go pick up a retail copy I think, damn UK download speeds.
Still, just downloading TF2 from Steam now. Figured I'd bite the bullet. -
Does HL2 come with CS:S?
