This article seems to indicate that 64 bit OS for gamers is catching on but still falls behind XP 32 bit by a wide margin. Steam Gamers Upgrading to 64-bit Win 7 Quickly

If a game isn't optimized for 64 bit then the OS will install the program in the folder (Program Filesx86). It's not the answer you're looking for but you seemed to feel ignored so I replied. :)

Really wanted Max Payne 1 and 2 only to find out they are unavailable here in my region

No other online retailers even work, no ebay, and local shops have no original pc games.
How can a person be expected to own legit games in an environment like this :( :(

Forget about that game, it's lousy. Save that $4.50 on something else.
If you buy that game, you will probably end up like what I did:
    - Install the game
    - Play for 30 minutes
    - Uninstall the game

Save your time and money on something that's worth it.

Download the demo, try for yourself:

Second this, avoid this made for console stinker. Play ArmA, ArmA 2 or better yet Operation Flashpoint and it's add-ons, an old game, but still one of the best.

Hey people! In the UK Steam store, an Oddworld pack was just put up for sale for 2.00 GBP (about $3.00). This pack includes Oddworld: Abe's Oddessy and Oddworld: Abe's Exodus. Now for that price I would take these game's easily as I played these back in my Playstation 2 days (or was it on the Playstation...???). However, this might be a stupid question, but I just wanted to make sure that these can play on Windows 7 as the system requirements are a little vague on which OS is supported?

    System Requirements
Supported OS: A 100% Windows 2000/XP-compatible computer system (only)
Processor: 166 MHz Pentium processor (200 MHz recommended)
Memory: 16 MB (32 MB or higher recommended)
    Direct X: 6
    Sound: 100% Soundblaster compatible
    Hard Drive: 700 MB Free

I already bought Bioshock for 10GBP and I'm enjoying this sale so far. Any help would be appreciated before this pack disappears from the sale.

    me,i like it.
stupid controls but its the most realistic. you die on the first or second bullet hit and you engage at a distance of 50-100mts.
    a more intelligent fps imho
at that price its a steal but be warned, however it is v diffcult.

Some of the indie games look good, but they always stuff 2 or 3 games into the package that suck and make it not worth it :(

Considering the HUGE sale on the full blown maintream games they indie games are kind of expensive right now in comparison.

As for the larger packages, super great deal but I own 4 or 5 games out of most of them already so its kinda of a waist for me. Considered a big "game gift giveaway" with the extras but I dont really have the money to be so kind right now :D I was going to have to put it on a credit card if I was to get it.

You're right. I remember not long ago someone complied in these forums that we got a full pack (GTA if I remember correctly) and he didn't get an extra copy of whatever from the pack he already had.

On the other hand I had HL2 and when I got the orange box I had an extra copy to give to someone (still have, by the way).

All in all I think it is a shame you are not getting a new license for something new you've bought. The least they could do is to highlight it clearly (like on AC2 where there is a big stamp on the box saying you need internet to play it).

    yes they are playable.

you need to setup flat panel scaling if you want the game not to be stretched out, but if you don't care about that then yeah. game is fine.

Yesterday's sun caption at the bottom was even better: "Though life would not exist without the sun, we now know that the sun is trying to kill us..."

I wouldn't bother with GTA4 unless you have current (2010) hardware - the patches have improved it from unplayable to decent on a high end rig. Shame I already have the big ones from today's sale, and don't really care about street fighter.

some of the captions are freaking great. so funny
thinking about going for the Square Enix and Eidos collection as well as a few other games

about £115, but some very nice games in there :

    Batman
    Battle stations Pacific and Midway
    Deus Ex 1 and 2
    Hitman 1, 2 and 3
    Just Cause
    Just Cause 2 (and DLC)
    Supreme Commander 2
    Thief Deadly Shadows
Tomb Raider Anniversary, Legend and Underworld

    as well as

    Bioshock 1 and 2
    Borderlands (and DLC)

but as that pack is £69.99 wondering if it would be worth it just to spend the extra £15 for the whole pack as maybe the Civ 3 complete and Civ 4 set might be a decent addon and could be played when bored or anything

and thats just the games that i am most interested in, there are others that could tempt me to play then if i have then already purchased :)

the sales section, theres GTA4 and ArmaII that interest me but hearing how i wouldnt be able to many mods such as the really cool ones i have seen for it makes me not want to get GTA4

Works great for me, have that and Episodes from Liberty City. GTA 4 is definitely worth it for that price.

On topic: Picked up the Abe's Odyssey collection and now the complete X-Com. I am buying things everyday, and I really want ArmA: Operation Arrowhead. My wallet stings... :(

annoying that i hear it cant use mods yet there are mods for it everywhere
so why make a mod for a game that cant use mods???

Have him check his bank. They might be able to give him Visa or Chase gift cards, which you can then use like a credit card.

Not all banks do that, but a larger one probably would, unless that hasn't got to your country yet.

I am interested in getting ARMA II, can someone shed some light on this game for me. I've been playing BC2 and have decided I want something a little more realistic. I played OP Flashpoint back in the day and loved it. I also liked America's Army. Are these games similar to what I can expect from Arma II?

Also how about how good it will run. I am running a Asus G51vx-RX05

    T9900 OC to 3.4ghz
    4gb DDR2
    GTX 260m
    Will run at 1366*768

Can I expect to run at least medium? How about high settings at my native?

Yes, it's a lot like OPFP and AA. I just picked up the bundle for 49.99, hoping to give it a go soon. Last time I played the ArmA II demo, same rig except with 8700 and 1680x1050 got me medium settings, so I'd say you can expect mid-to high, especially since it's a CPU cruncher.
