I picked up BC2 and it is fun. I played MW2 on the 360 and BC2 is much more fun. Im running it on all high settings with 2x AA and 8x antriscopic and averaging 30 fps.
-
-
Turn off AA, leave AF at 4x or less, turn off HBAO and Bloom and you'll maintain a steady 50-60 FPS.
-
Are you guys overclocking your video cards or is this performance based on stock settings? I recently bought the game as well, but I get steady 35 fps with AA off. I'm playing on a g73 as well.
-
Is Mount&Blade any good? Is the multiplayer released yet?

Really can't wait for the last day of daily deals! I hope it epic! I am loving borderlands so far. The original style, gun variation, and gameplay and have rekindled my love of games a bit. There is an auto glock thats shoots fire ammo, seriously one of the most fun weapons in my years of playing games.
-
The last deals are going to be garbage and you can quote me on it.
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
im waiting for the final day of deals, i hope that they put ALL the games that have been on sale back on sale as i missed the first few days and missed a few quality games
-
Freedom Force and it's sequel for $1.87 is an incredible deal. If you haven't played it, Freedom Force is an awesome game.
-
I have ~ 30 - 45 to spend. The only game(s) I own in Steam is Orange Box.
What do you recommend? Torchlight looks nice (though I missed ~4 price)
and the THQ pack too (CoH Complete + DaoW + Titan Quest) -
thq pack is a steal, so is torchlight at that price.
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
the THQ pack is great for that price, considering what you get - i got that as well as the Square pack and a few single games
-
And this is why I love Steam/Valve, incredible deals.
-
I dunno, looks like it's all the most popular/biggest selling deals of the week to wrap it up. Unless steam isn't refreshing properly.
Mass Effect 2: 23.99
Trine: 4.00
Thief: 2.99
Borderlands: 10.19
BFBC2: 33.49
Just Cause 2: 24.99
GTA4: 4.99
Bioshock 2: 14.99
ARMA2: 19.99
Killing Floor: 4.99
Civ 4 complete pack: 9.99
L4D2: 10.19
World of Goo: 5.00
Red Faction Gorillas: 5.00
Monkey Island complete: 11.89
I think it's kind of nice that they put up popular sales again, but also disappointed that there is nothing new. Ah well... -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
i kinda had a feeling that all the titles that sold well during the sales would go back up on the final day
-
Today's deals are pretty much garbage. I thought they would have some new deals, not just rehash old ones.
-
Most of the games are the same price as before, such fail. gg valve, the first few sales were better than the last sales.
ALSO, I told ya the last sale was going to be garbage. -
they didnt have to have a sale at all y'moany bunch of moaners
be happy they gave you some cash off -
Lethal Lottery Notebook Betrayer
Sad that the unreal deal pack is not on todays sale. Worst sale ever. Highlights GTA, a game that can only run decently on like 3 laptops, so thats basically a donation to steam if you buy it. and mass effect 2 which you can in the retail box anywhere for 3 bucks more or so. Come on....Since its the last of the sale Im thinking of buying
Tropico 3 : Absouloute Power 6.79
Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 10.19
Farcry 2 13
I don't really need a new game at all now, should I wait for better deals? -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
I think some of the sales have been great and to say that they havent been is very sad and whats with
"Worst sale ever. Highlights GTA, a game that can only run decently on like 3 laptops, so thats basically a donation to steam if you buy it"
oh so only people on laptops use STEAM?
if you want the game that much then either buy it and lower the settings or play it on PC for £4.99 i think its a great price -
I agree they should've put at least some new games, but I am happy they have the L4D2 deal back. Now to find someone that is setting up a 4-pack purchase
-
Lethal Lottery Notebook Betrayer
I would say that only custom built gaming desktops or a select 5-10 prebuilt desktops can run it decently. Most costumers have switched to laptops or have kept older desktops. Even then its a desktop, and performance still is nothing to write home about. There is a big reason why its 4.99- no one can run it decently expect for a very very select few of consumers. It was poor job on rockstar part, and its nice to see them keeping RDR off the PC, because I rather not have it all then have run on 20fps on low when my laptop can max a good deal of newer games at good framerates. They can keep it, I would not even take it for free in my account, it would just be a reminder of disappointment. Honestly its a good game for the consoles (beat it on PS3) but the storyline is disappointing and ending is a big meh, its filled with cliches, the map is not at all to scale or even 1/100 to scale of something to live up to my expectiations of a virtual NYC based city and kind of dead, and really not the kind of game you want to play twice. I meant to say worst sale day ever. Not sale in general. I think its ridiculous there catering to the late comers, and not giving a grand july 4th finale to those who have been watching the sale/ and faithfully buying game during the week. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
Is it REALLY that bad??? -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
They did a horrible job optimizing it.
-
it's not. but it is, imo, a bit worse than crysis.
-
Damn! No Modern Warfare 2 ... Can't say I'm surprised though. Oh well, sticking with Counterstrike:Source isn't so bad
-
Is Killing Floor (4,49€
and/or Trine (4,00€
worth the price?
Bioshock 2 is tempting, but I can get the hard copy (limited edition) for the same price. The rest are too expansive or I already own them. -
Just Cause 2 is pretty tempting ( loved the demo ), but I feel like thats one of those games that'll be going on sale for $5 or $10 in a couple months from now...
-
Actually if you think about it, they HAVE to have the sale.
It's the end of Q2 and beginning of Q3 and to get in the black or put more money in the executives of the publishers or Valve, they usually have these sales. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
i got it part of the Square pack, £67 for some many good games that i dont have couldnt pass it up
-
Anyone can tell me if you can play L4D2 with a friend of your choice or does it randomly put you in a group? We don't live in the same neighborhood btw.
Thanks fellas. -
well then be happy that they gave you the oportunity to buy some of the games discounted
i got the borderlands DLCs 66% off and Killing Floor 75% off and Mass Effect and L4D and i was quite happy !
-
ye as long as he's in ur steam friendslist it's easy as pie
-
Anyone?
Anything else I should check out from those deals? -

and bad company 2
-
Got L4D2, if I were to buy Bad Company 2 I would buy it hard copy for 15 quid
(atm I use to much time at CSS anyways).
Anyways how are the games (Trine/Killing Floor)? Just want a little bit more info
-
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
I started off with Left 4 Dead 2 and got Killing Floor on a not-so-nice-now deal if 19.99.
Worth it, in my opinion. It's a much different game from L4D. Basically, you and your team have to hold off increasingly tougher waves of "specimens" until you get to the last wave, which is a mutated scientist guy with a gatling gun/rocket launcher assembly for an arm and a penchat for saying "one in the pipe!" before blowing stuff up.
There are also "perks" (seven of them), each of which give discounts and advantages to certain weapons. For example, a sharpshooter perk will give bonuses/discounts to a lever-action rifle and M14, while a berserker perk will increase melee damage and give discounts on katanas. There's also six levels for each perk, so it's like an RPG. You can change perk once per wave.
Action is less focused on run-and-gun and more on tactical. You can hold up in a room, weld doors shut, and funnel the specimens through one entrace, for example. While teamwork isn't as integral as Left 4 Dead 2, wandering off by yourself is a good way to get chainsawed to death. Yes, some zombies have chainsaws for arms.
Grab it while you can, boys. -

So whats up with Civ IV? Its a highly rated game but not so sure I can get into that kind of strategy. I am probably more of a RTS guy.
I tried R.U.S.E. and could not get into it, and it kinda reminds me of Risk.
Though there is not much risk for only $10
-
Not sure about Killing Floor. But for $4, Trine is definitely worth it. It's a platformer/physics based puzzle solving/RPG/action combined Indie-ish game. You can switch between 3 different characters to solve puzzles (i.e. getting through the level), each one of them has his/her own abilities. Visuals' great, level design is clever, overall, awesome game. Get it.
I tried Civ4, but couldn't get into it. Uninstalled it 30mins later after I finished the tutorial. It's just not my cup of tea, probably not yours either. -
Maybe I'm blind, or just have a bad memory, but it looks like ALL the previous supersales are back on for today.
You just have to view them under the "Specials" tab, and not the "Today Only" list. -
I like both 4X and RTS, but civ4 just seemed to have too many minor quibbles with it when I played it at a friend's... most notably, experienced archers could take down tanks, and it sort of kills the feel of the game. Might try civ5 when that comes out, but for now it's stardock all the way for anything strategy.
I had to pass on all these deals, my steam is already backed up downloading stuff from thurs. By the time I finish some of these games there'll be a back to school sale
-
Civilization IV is very fun, the minor quirks are not really that bad. It is a bunch of fun building an empire from scratch an all that. However, I think that Paradox are the finest strategists.
-
I'm so confused on which game I want to play now....
-
Pick one, finish it, and then go to the next. Be careful if your first choice is an MMORPG...
-
Ok, so here is what I have bought in the past week. I have some hard work ahead of me:
- Mass Effect 2
- Dragon Age Origins
- Half Life 2: Episode One
- Half Life 2: Episode Two
- Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom
- Plants VS Zombies
- Freedom Force
- Ghost Warriors (the $0.95 game)
- Shatter
- Trine
-
Ended up buying Killing Floor, don't think I will buy Trine as it seem more fun playing it multiplayer (only possible with LAN co-op). Played the demo and it seemed okish, but as I said I reckon it would be better with a friend or two.

DoD Source $7
CSS Source $7
L4D $7
L4D 2 $10
Tropico 3 $8
Borderlands 10
Tropico Classic Colellection (2 games plus expansion pack) $3
Basically would have paid for L4D2 or Borderlands alone if I bought it at launch, instead I got 8 AAA games! This will surely last the whole summer. The one thing I purchased but did not list was the expansion pack for Tropico 3. Its pretty annoying, causes a lot of tech problems, and I cant play T3 without the add on, which angered me. I emailed support and asked them to remove it from my account so I can play T3 normally. Waste of 7 bucks though! -
Cant decide between Borderlands and L4D2
So I'm going with L4D2
I can wait 5 mins lol
Any thoughts? -
is there any chance that modern warfare 2 will go on sale?
-
Lethal Lottery Notebook Betrayer
If you have to choose L4D2. As you see I bought both (and both are amazing games) but I have to go with L4D2 because of the better community, more modes, the fact that it does not use gamespy (so pirates/hackers cant play as easily unlike borderlands) also the fact that gameplay is more fast paced and exciting. However if your playing with 3 people who does randomly run around and dont chat or use mics, it can be a horrible game and feel flat. Borderlands (especially the singleplayer) is more relaxing to play, as most of the time your traveling or getting new quests. Get Borderlands if you loved Fallout, non serious games, comic graphics, if you like RPG elements, super cool fantasy gunsetc. You don't have to like animie or steampunk style to appreciate borderlands. Its a very mainstream game. Ultimately I would just get both, for this price you will NOT regret it. -
pmassey31545 Whats the mission sir?
Played em both. Like em both. L4D:2 is my choice just cause the mass slaughter is fun.
