i was thinking of getting HL 2 : DM whats it like? worth it?

 

Havent tried it, waiting for UT3 to finish, it about 80% done, i hope its done tonight

 

its not got long left, at 512kb would take over 4 hours so at less then 100kb im thinking it would take several days

 

I finally finished downloading UT3 yesterday.. I started on Thursday like when it first was announced. I'm not sure how long it's still free, I think it's over some time today. $12 deal is going for another week though.

I did turn it on for a couple minutes yesterday before I had to run out the door. Runs very well on my laptop w/ 8800m GTS, absolutely everything cranked up. The new expansion helped a lot with the User Interface, I remember playing the demo when it first came out and there were almost no video options, but now there are 20+. Good job Epic! I may have to actually buy this one now...

 

After 20+ hours, UT3 has finished DLing. Now I try it for 10 minutes until they lock it again

 

Ok...

So it took me 2.5 DAYS to download it... I play 4-5 levels...

I come back now and it says "Pre-load Complete"


WTH!?!?!
Isnt it supposed to go until monday!?



BTW: A friend finished the ENTIRE game and is still playing online... this was the FULL version FOR FREE this weekend... so why am I not allowed to play now?!

 

noi think its for 2 days starting from friday so it should end today / tonight

 

If it says Pre-Load is complete, it means it's loaded but you have to buy it... guess the free weekend is over.

Yes tell me how Ut3 is because when I ran the demo way back on my system it look like it was running on software mode. Anyways, I just bought worl of goo, have yet to play it tho.

Thanks for the link, but yea I hated when people post vid and put that annoying music. Sometimes I just want the ambiens of the sounds from in the game... And yea $11.99 doesn't seem like a bad deal.

 

yeah im debating if i should get it or not, i know its only £8.39 but i dont want to buy it and find out that im not going to ever play it

 

All I can say is that I really didnt like the feel of it at first...
The graphics looked wrong and stuff :?:
But after 10 minutes you get the feel of the Unreal Engine and the atmosphere and especially the plethora of guns and vehicles etc...

Its a really REALLY R E A L L Y scalable game... best ive ever seen, played it MAXED OUT vsync 16X 1440*900 etc... all that AND had 32 Bots running on my lousy 1.66GHz + 8800m GTS

I you game alot and want a change, definitely buy this... if you dont have time to game alot... might still want to buy it
Story mode is quite fun actually, it gradually adds all the technology and weapons and tactics etc... and always come back to the menu
So you dont have to continuously play the game forever



OP: Yeah, thousands of complaints about the download time and not being able to even try it out etc...
They definitely missed out on some money here, I am not buying it since it took me 2 days to DL and then barely gave me time to play

 

So I just logged into to Steam, and am greeted by a popup: UT3 encore weekend! It seems like Steam realized the error of their ways and is unlocking UT3 Friday at 1:00 ET.

Nice job by Steam in a big spot. Ya gotta give 'em credit for keeping it real.

Downloading at ~600kb/s too.

Edit: Yes I downloaded it last weekend, deleted it, and will be redownloading again.

I'd play NBR clan, I purchased the game, but I wont have a computer to play on

 

i got this game when the winter sale was on, never played it much.
my problem was the unbareble lag during gameplay, i had under 70ms ping, but it felt like 200ms, maybe it's because the game is too fast paced and need like 20ms ping to play.

 

I never played it much despite being a huge UT2004 fan, it lost most of its charm, but if its integrated with Steam now that may help bring life to the servers.

 

I played it this morning, they really improved alot to the interfact, and there's ALOT more people playing it now that it's on steam, about a month ago it was hard to even find a match with 4 actual people in it. I think I can attribute that to the browser system since it only let you search for matches of a single type at a time, which was too time consuming and made it hard to find low ping matches with actual players.

I could swear just before this update almost every server was over 140ms ping, some even in the 400ms range, now pretty much every server is under 30ms for me, some even 4ms, it's great, now that the game isn't completely broken I can start playing it again

 

Cool, I'll have to strike while the iron is hot. The few times I played before the people playing were hardcore elitist and way too good at the game, this large influx of new players should make it a good time to get my feet wet again.

Im sure the large increase is due to the free play weekend too but even after this has passed we should be left with many new players and better servers.

Disappointing weekend deal... they had Red Orchestra on sale for the weekend for $5 probably no less than 6 months ago. I bought it back then...

Now I'm disappointed I don't have a game I'll buy and not play this weekend , I've only played RO for probably two hours total since I bought it, lol.

I was thinking about getting assassins creed but now i have second thoughts..... alot of reviews i've read(user reviews) have said they dont really like the game, but then again it's only $10 still if i can get Tom Clancy's HAWX for half off(PLEASE!) I would take that in a heat beat, lol.

 

haha I doubt they're going to do 50% off a brand new game. We can hope though.

Assassin's Creed I would definitely say is worth $10 though. It does get a little repetitive, since there are the same people always getting mugged, same people to pickpocket, etc... but it's still pretty fun IMO. I don't finish every game I play, but that one kept me interested to the very finish.

Well its good to hear that you like it i may just have to take the dive ubisoft makes great games id love to see the new prince of persia on discount as well.

As for the most new games won't be 50% i would agree with you 100% BUT Left 4 dead was only $24.99 earlier this year and that was only a little while after it came out but you are right though HAWX may be too new to have such a huge discount. I guess the newer Prince of Persia for $25 would also be sweet
