I got the Oblivion deal too, but unfortunately all I keep getting are nv4_disp crashes.Hopefully I will have better luck with the Borderlands deal!
-
Try out a different Nvidia driver. Typically when file names start with nv they're Nvidia Display Driver files.
-
Anyone willing to setup a group buy for Borderlands?
-
no, but ill play with anyone who gets it. i bought it at the summer sale and havent gotten around to playing it, with the exception of 1 day
-
Bought with 3 dlcs, 10 gigs downloading atm
-
Yeah, definitely the Nvidia display driver. I have tried every "fix" I could find online (uninstalling in safe mode, cleaning all nvidia files in safe mode, reinstalling in safe mode, etc. etc.), but nothing works.
-
Awesome. Missed out on the DLC when they were on sale in the summer. Now my collection is complete.
The 3 DLCs alone were 3.5 GB for me.
Been playing the main game since May. Got one of each character going, though my furthest is a lvl 35 sniper who is one quest away from completing playthrough 1 and I must say it has been a BLAST. While the game alone is pretty fun, it becomes quite amazing with friends, especially when each of you plays a different class. Now I want to play again... -
I can't open Borderlands. It says "failed to contact key server". Are they out of keys again just like Fuel?
-
Yeah, I'd love to be one of the 4.
Anyone Else?

Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. bundle available until the 23rd. Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat for $9.99.
I've already got the first - if I can gift it out of the purchase, the offer's on the table, first PM with your Steam associated email address gets it if they'll let me split up the bundle. -
You can only gift out Valve games unfortunately... every other bundle I've bought it specifically says if you already own it you don't get it and can't gift it. Which is complete crap because it doesn't support the user that is a fan of the publisher or dev.
-
Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
Bummer... Oh well, it's half off CoP anyway... -
this week, i added borderlands (now playing), and the stalker bundle is downloading. i did not get into the first stalker, but i will try again for $9.99. these sales are getting me to expand my horizons.
-
Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
I played it and loved it when I first bought it (started a second playthrough the moment I finished the first), but I'm told that modded versions are the way to go - the devs never managed to achieve their goals with the first game, but fans have apparently modded the game to its intended glory. I would check the Steam STALKER forums (or some other STALKER forum) and moddb for suggestions on how to mod the game to its highest potential so you get the best possible experience.
I'm stoked for CoP, but I've got a pretty long list of games that I bought on sale in the year leading up to buying my current computer, so I don't know when I'll get to it. -
Have the first so this is kinda pointless for me
Really bummed out that I missed the borderlands deal
I would have bought it, but my net was out for 4 days and they weren't sending a techie to fix it -___-
ah well
-
Hmmm... how often do deals for Team Fortress 2 come up? I just found out about that game and the more I look into it the more I like it. It looks pretty fun but I don't feel OK with buying it at retail since it's like 3 years old.
-
I love this game, mostly due to the multitude of maps/game modes, also due to the fact that Valve still works on it. They recently released the engie update which IMO was a fairly significant add-on
They do have sales on it but I'm not sure how often, maybe around its release date (in Oct) or during the Xmas sale, we can't really say for sure but it was once only for $2.50 albeit for a short time
Buying it retail isn't a problem since when you activate it, it gets tied to your steam account and it is as if you bought it through steam.
Your activation code won't be needed again.
Another option is the Orange Box, much better value for money, especially if you don't have most of the games. I bought the orange box retail, and I have never needed my CD key after the first install, I just use the CD to re-install HL2 / Portal as it is faster than downloading the whole thing
Hope this helps -
I know what you mean. Unfortunately I also recently discovered the Orange Box, but I already have HL2, Ep 1, and Ep 2, as well as Portal (awesome game btw). Thanks for the retail tip too. I will hunt a retail sale or wait for a Steam sale, whichever comes first.
Of course the first lines of your response didn't help in making me want the game less... -
Sorry about that
It's just that I really got back into recently and I am having alot of fun
If you're in the US you can get it retail on amazon
Amazon.com: Team Fortress 2: PC: Windows XP: Video Games
It's 9.99 which I think is good for the game. If you get into it you can rack up an insane number of hours and still not get bored
Be warned though, you will still have to download quite a bit if you get retail. About 4-5Gb for 3 years worth of updates, just a heads up -
4-5gb is nothing, have you tried downloading Star Wars the Force Unleash on steam, its 30gb!
-
I know
I was about to buy it when it was last on sale, but that put me off
Would have taken me ~4-5 days of constant downloading to get it :O :O
Too much
I believe the reason for that was the high-res cut-scenes that took up most of the space -
I played it and the scene were not even that high rez. I saw somewhere on the forum is that it was due to the multi language or something that of that nature. Or maybe it was just bad video compression. Also, I left my PC over night to finish downloading it. My speed max out at 450kb so you probably have faster speed and it should take about a whole day to get it.
-
Its actually slower, mine maxes at 220
I'm downloading UT3 Black edition ATM, 10GB got it on sale at a retail store a while ago for 40SAR ~ 10$
It activates on steam which is great, hope fully other games implement this too
Midweek Madness
Plain Sight 80% off
2$
Looks interesting, but some people on the Steam forums are saying the community is basically dead, so I will be giving it a miss
EDIT - Seems the steam sale has overloaded their servers
, guess there will be quite a few people playing after all

I'm glad I managed to get the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. deal. Its such an amazing game and with the "complete" mods it literally made the game 100000x better (I kid you not). Its like 10 bucks for one, go buy it
-
I grabbed the 1st one for 2.50$ during the xmas sale
Still haven't got around to playing, I even have the complete mod but I dont know why I still haven't played it LOL -

one of the amazing things about stalker is that it has so many different things you could tone down to increase performance like i bet if you just didnt put it in full dynamic lighting you could max everything else out

-

while not steam, EA's store is having a 40% off sale on PC games.
EA Store (US) Online Store
So...$18 Battlefield Bad Company 2 (among a couple other things) -
OMG....the Company of Heroes deals are a steal!!! Probably one of the best RTS games I've ever played. A must buy for anyone who enjoys this genre of games. I've been waiting for ages for a deal on the Tales of Valor expansion to come out, sweet find Cin!
-
Damn... this is making the wait for a Steam sale extremely difficult.
Nice find. -
Yeah, I think I'm just going to get BC2 from EA.
-
The best thing is in Europe you can get the Gold Version for 2,49€!! and Tales for another 7,49€, so its essentially 9,99€ for the whole stuff, even cheaper than the complete for 11,49€.
Its so cheap that I got the Gold Version even though I had them on CD...because if you install them from disks it takes a looooong time to patch it all the way through to the most recent one...I hope Steam does this automatically. -
Anybody knows of any big sale coming up at Steam, like the beginning of a summmer sale ? I regret not buying few titles last time like crysis and bf2
-
The Winter sale is the other big sale Steam has every year (I think it is bigger than the Summer sale but I'm not sure about that).
-
Gotcha, that's sometime in December around holidays ?
-
Black Friday (Friday after Thanksgiving) Steam has some very big sales.
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
my wallet is crying already. -
I'm just wondering if they'd put civ5 on sale during thanksgiving... it'll still be fairly new, but really what other big titles are releasing between now and then? Dead rising 2 maybe, but it'll be a cold day in hell before EA puts MoH on sale so soon after release.
-
Maybe Black Ops..
-
not ever buying any games on steam.. so many problems and restrictions.. i don't mind the free games but with all these problems.. nope steam ain't getting my money.
