Wow, never realize the shotgun is so easy to score... Just now I joined a team deathmatch server with 20 people on the map downpour in the last 5 minutes of the match only using the 1st shotgun & stun grenades and I managed to get a record of 22 kills / 3 deaths.Called in 3 UAVs, 2 airstrikes & 1 heli and annoyed the hell out of the enemy team...

Really? I found the last shotgun to be terrible. The 4 shells and very slow rate of fire just were terrible though it had so much raw power. Overall I avoid using them.
-
Anyway, I'm trying to complete all the challenges for the shotguns now (100 headshots for each shotgun, at the moment I have scored 51 headshots for the 1st shotgun and 3 headshots for the last shotgun...xP) so I can get a gold shotgun at the end.
It's actually quite hard to get headshots for it because most of the time even when I aim at their head it doesn't register as a headshot.

Wow the p90 is a hell of a submachine gun. Its the best weapon in the game in my opinion. With a silencer its outright deadly. I'm getting 5:1 ratios with it compared to 3:1 ratios with other weapons.
-
-
I prefer the Mp5. Oldschool. I just got the gold semi-auto shotty, rather anti-climactic. But running around with the gold shotty and the gold deagle is petty pimp.
-
What level is P90 acquired at?

-
i have a ati 2600xt 256mb gddr3
128bit
why cant i play with every settings att high i laggs -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Well I am playing with my gpu overclocked at 1680 x 1050, its not stock speeds.
-
I have an 8600M GT which is I think a little better than your card but not a lot and I play at 1680 x 1050 no AA or AF, specular map off and everything else on high or max settings and I get average 30 fps.
With a little overclocking I can put specular map on and get the same average fps -
-
Gah, how do you overclock?! Is it just a program that you run? Are you ruining your computer by doing it? Help! O_.
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Yes I use a program called rivatuner (most of us do). Its reall simple with the directions from their site or you can ask if you need help. Just google rivatuner and you'll find it. With newer cards its really hard to do damage to your card. My card often actually underclocks itself if I try to clock it too hard. Or the screen will artificat (apparent distortions and waves) which are a sign that its overheating. There is some risk involved but its very minimal.

Lo and behold, Call of Duty 5 has already been confirmed as in the works.

I pray Infinity Ward will develop it!!! Expect a full review. -
btw I just unlocked the gold shotty. It was hard work in getting 100 headshots for both shotguns... -
I've asked to get C0d 4 for Christmas. I just wish it was Christmas already!
-
Did anyone noticed that the SAS captain in COD4 and the SAS sargent major in the book Rainbow Six have both the same name?
-
anyone able to play this game using intel x3100?
dont know if i should buy it yet -
I gotta say, after playing and finishing Crysis I thought no game could impress me again.
But I`ve just started to play COD4 and it`s absolutely amazing. I feared that the graphics would be poor, but it`s beatiful, complex, realistic and the shaders and shadows do it justice.
Best part about it, i can max it out without a problem, and it`s a 2007 game!
Crysis was meant for the future,COD4 is the present. You gotta love it! -

Excellent review Forerunner (as always), and after reading your article I have decided to buy the game.
However, I have a problem. My university has blocked all my multiplayer ports, so I need to know if this game has a lot of replayability for the single player mode. Specifically, is the arcade mode any good?
The hard drive requirements these days are insane, every recent game seems to be more than 8GB in size. This sucks for people who own laptops, as we don't really have the privillege of owning massive hard drives. I wish they had different installtion options... I mean since I'm not going to be playing on 1080p graphics settings, they may as well leave out those textures and let me save a few GB's of space.
Also, do you need to have the CD in the drive to play the game? Coz if that's true, I'll probably buy the game through Steam. It's no problem, since I love Steam anyway. -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Arcade mode is gppd but not really something would be fun for many hours on end.
The space my system is reporting is 6.5 gigs for it. How big is your harddrive?
Maybe reduce the amount of space for system restore. I have about 6 games installed and a few gigs of music and still have 70 gigs left. I have a 160 gb drive. You can always buy an external drive.
Well, you need the cd for singplayer but you don't need it for multiplayer.
Also in all honestly. The campaign is short maybe 5-8 depending on setting and how good you are but regardless I don't think 50 dollars for just the single player might be worth. Its the best game of the year in my opinion but you might feel like you made a bad decision once you finish the campaign a few times and can't do much else with the game. If you can multiplayer somehow then your fire. I dunno its up to you, the campaign is excellent but... -
The single player runs about 5 hrs on easy/normal ,7-12 hrs on harden/super hard. The gameplay in linear but the story are very dramatic and jaw-dropping , it feel like if you are in hollywood war movie. What it lacks in length, it makes up in quality. I am guessing maybe 2 or 3 replays.
My advice would be wait for the price to drop if you are only going to play single player, or but yet borrow it from one of your friends. You don't need the cd for mp, so once they are done with single player, they dont need it anymore.
P.S. Gamespy.com just named COD4 The Game of the Year. Cheers! -
Home for Christmas so I bought it and beat it today on Normal....awesome story wow! short but sweet!
Haven't tried multiplayer or arcade mode yet but this is definitely the GOTY IMHO (that or mario galaxy which i tried briefly) -

-
what do you mean by wont play so well
-
it played sluggishly(lagged on the same settings). installed omega's 169.21 for xp and that solved the problem! it plays at least 2x as fast right now!
-
havent heard from ya for a while V, anyway good those drivers solved the problem.
wouild you recommend omega ones over lv2go 169.28 or not -
nah, bb, i've been around - just reading a lot lately
u been alright?
over 28's...dunno yet. have to run gta: san andreas to say for sure(which won't run for some reason, have to restart i guess), since gta performed very bad on 169.28. -

hell, just ran cod4 with aa4x and it is playable. it does, however, deep into some mid-teens but the quality is wow
-
I just got CoD4 last night. I have only tried single player so far, but it is a really fun game. Very intense.
Tim -
I like it. I just played the game right now. It is intense. It is about real issue going on. Like the iraq war.
-
One of the reasons I loved Call of Duty 4 is because they didn't get too political with their storyline. That allowed them to build an epic single player campaign, of a battle between good and evil, of rationalism against extremism. Like in WW2, where the line between the good guys and the bad guys was easy to see.
The Iraq War however, is skeptical at best. In a perfect world, we could kill all the terrorists without slaughtering hundreds of thousands of innocent civillians in the process. Especially since Iraq didn't have WMD's, or any ties to Al-queda prior to the 2003 invasion (as stated by the US senate).
Video games usually depict an ideal world, where the good guys win, and Bush stayed with his oil companies instead of running for president. -
Okay Okay. Sorry. I know real life is not similar to a game. Thanks. I try not to get into that issues.
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Hehe made sure to steer clear of that when I wrote my review.
Also yeah the 1.4 patch totally fixes the connecting issue, and now it connects near instantly. Also the .28 drivers gave me a nice boost in fps.
Ping is rather high though for my connection. Your tweaks did help BB (blackbird.) -
Now guys i am having a problem. I don't know if it is regular. After Sniper mission. When you carry the guy to the extraction. Everything goes well there. I complete the mission. Now when the next mission is loading it will not finish loading it. It will stay there. Now When i press ctrl+alt+delete. to get the task manager and i see that it is not responding. ANyone had this problem before or does that mission take longer to load. THanks. I have included a screenshot of what i am talking about and it shows the point where it stop and the the screen goes black after that but the loading stay there.

cod4 is still awesome for me...just had to throw that out there. Its getting a little boring after doing prestige though.
-
Yh thats the one thing i dont like about cod4 - the maps are already getting boring. Its not like Enemy Territory Quake Wars, or even Wolfenstein Enemy Territory for that matter, where you progress through the map while doing objectives. This then makes sure that you spent a small amount of time in certain areas of the map and keep progressing to the next area of the map, which keeps the maps having a "freash" feel every time u play. But with COD4 you can just run anywhere in the rather small maps and u tend to get bored rather quickly.
-
Hey guys... I have a question. I bought the game from direct2drive.com and after being curious about the patches I emailed them and they said their digital version did not have the same issues as the retail version. I guess it's true since I have never used a patch and have never had any problems with the game.
My question is why/how is this possible? -
I bought mine from Steam. and it's updated automatically during my time online. Maybe that's what they mean, you don't have to actively download any patches.
