Deus Ex requires at least a single 1080 to be above 60 fps at Ultra settings with DX11 1080p - 62 fps, 1080 @ 1440p - 44 fps, every other card is sub 60 fps. No mention if SLI support is available.

    Very High: 1080 @ 1080p - 76 fps, 1080 @ 1440p - 50 fps

    High: 980ti @ 1080p - 67 fps, 980ti @ 1440p - 44 fps

    Medium: 1060 @ 1080p - 60 fps, 1060 @1440p - 42 fps

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - 15 GPU Benchmark, Ultra, Very High, High & Medium

Tough game, and these benchmarks were run without MSAA. Word is MSAA is only for SLI / Crossfire setups.

This is why Deus Ex: Mankind Divided may be running terribly for you
    https://www.vg247.com/2016/08/24/th...kind-divided-may-be-running-terribly-for-you/
"In fact, outside of a temporal AA solution, the only hard AA option the game offers (MSAA) is designed for those running SLI or CrossFire. This option, along with Contact Hardening Shadows, will make even PCs with recommended specs suffer."

Nah it is just Ubisoft's crappy porting to PC, like usual, all their games are like that, they're just super poorly optimized to run on high end hardware .

Dude...Eidos (Square Enix ) made Deus ex not Ubisoft, but I agree ;).

Tom clancy division and Rainbow six siege however were correctly optimized for PC, but their anti-cheat measures are weak (Siege uses now BattlEye and I can see improvements)

NotebookCheck review of MSI GS73VR with GTX 1060:

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/MSI-GS73VR-6RF-Notebook-Review.172138.0.html

Seems ok: still kinda hot and noisy but cooler and more quiet than its Maxwell predecessor GS70 with GTX 970M (surprisingly it's actually CPU that rises eyebrows with 95 C, but GPU stays at max 86 C even with unrealistic Prime95+FurMark loads).

Though it does have Optimus which can't be turned off (a showstopper for many), and that 120Hz screen they were so proudly advertising is just TN not IPS.

A bit more speculation here - how powerful do you guys expect the 1050/1050 Ti to be? What chips might the GPUs use - rebranded Maxwell GM206/107, Pascal GP106/107? TDP?

I think if you're gonna bother with a 120Hz screen then it's better to have TN over IPS, faster response times, which is kinda the whole point of 120Hz.

Now that we've got benchmarks from more notebooks, it seems our guess about different performance with the same GPUs had been confirmed (likely depending on cooling influencing boost clocks?) .

According to 3dmark firemark graphics scores there seem to be quite a spread of performance between different notebooks, both for GTX 1060 and 1070 (surprisingly even for the same models different people get different performance, with much bigger differences than would be explainable e.g. by better/worse drivers versions).

    GTX 1060

    MSI GS43VR - 10,102 | 11,709 | 11,776 | 11,809 | 11,838 points

    MSI GE72VR - 11,732 points
    GTX 1060 mobile pre-sample - 11,733 points
    MSI GS63VR - 11,596 | 12,035 | OC: 12,946 points

    GTX 1070

    Acer Predator 17

    probably min to max range.

these differences are due to: cooling design / OEM specific boost limits / Nvidia Turbo Boost 3.0 / crappy stock vbios / crappy stock sBios ;)

btw, dont just buy a machine based on a few benchmark scores. if u really want to compare ud basically need to take a high number of samples for each and every individual config and then compare those average scores to get a definitive conclusion :p

Yo, this game sounds ruff! Might stay clear of this then because if I'm having a 1060. And I have to settle for medium settings after I splashed £1500 on it. My face will be like this till a next laptop can for the same money. And a 1080 for that money is not gonna happen. LOL

Hey so for the guy who asked about the gl502 fan noise, I have an update for you. I turned off g sync to see what this 980m can really do on a game like gta iv (I know it's a bad port). I usually get around 60-80 fps and dips of 45 (in heavy traffic areas). While that's going on, the fan really shows off what it can do. It kind of sounds like a hair dryer, but a little less than that. It's not so loud that it overpowers the speakers but I have to turn them up to around 40%. Keep in mind that this is when g sync is off; when it's on, the frame rate is capped at 60 so it generates less heat and the fans don't get as loud. When I get a 1070 laptop, I'll be turning off g sync again to see how loud the fans get and I'll let you know.

Just a separator between different sources for the same notebook models.

For now these were the only data points I could find, so it's not even ranges.

Seconding this. Wait for more people getting actual notebooks in their hands and write about their experiences.

Right now it's hard to know if somebody maybe just got a lemon unit (like with Asus G502VS - we had reports both that it's ok, and that it's terribly hot).

Just like there isn't a 14 inch with a 980m. It's kind of amazing that the 1060 got into 14 inch builds to be honest.

Seeing as Clevo hasn't said so much as a peep about coming out with a 14" model yet (unlike Aorus and Razer who have at least announced that 13.9"/14" models are in the works), it's also possible that Clevo will come out with a 14" that houses a 1050/1050ti instead of a 1060. Either way, it definitely won't house a 1070 - that'd be too much heat in too small of a chassis.

thats normal, guys. the 14 inch clevos always came out way later than their 15/17 inch brothers. itll just need some extra time, no worries :) dont forget that the P640RE came out way later than the other maxwell/skylake machines!

My MSI GT62VR with GTX 1060 temps test. 1080p still processing. Enjoy.

GPU overclocked +200mhz on core. I think we can put to rest rumors that the GT62 "throttles" itself or can't maintain the factory boost clocks. While I would say it does need the ability to set a higher power limit and unlocked voltage controls, but for now this appears to be what I can get. Setting +250mhz works fine but it won't hold a higher clock speed, it bounces around like this video. +300mhz crashes which is a very respectable overclock IMO.

Never owned a Sager, nothing against them but dealing with returns for issues for mainstream brands like MSI is a lot easier when dealing with places like Newegg, Amazon, Frys and Micro Center. Unfortunately Sager/Clevo laptops aren't sold at those places. I also greatly prefer the steel series keyboard MSI uses and the speakers are second to none. I'm going to be picking up the 1070 version of this laptop for $1799 on 9/5 from Newegg with no taxes. 27 months of warranty for no additional cost as well (3 months free for taking their 5 minute survey).

Well what models are you looking at? Do you want bulky or slim? I would look at the Clevo P650RS (slim) , MSI GT62 (bulky), and Clevo P750DM (bulky) for 1070 gpus. If I was forced to buy asus probably the GL502 (slim) though temps seem sporadic from early reports. I'm super not a fan of their higher end fatter stuff as they have had so many issues with them.

    What made you discount Clevo?

Regardless from your actual question I'd go MSI. I got to try out both MSI and Asus's new lines, and the MSI ones felt really well built, I was impressed.

Getting a Clevo (not a Sager) through a reseller and dealing with their support I would say is a smarter bet than dealing with Sager themselves, and can give you an easier experience than with small or major brands as you'll actually know your service rep (as long as you aren't like a jerk to them).

The screen is something to check in person, for TN or IPS, for a fast refresh screen IPS fails and TN wins - your priorities need to be checked as you can't have both in the same display, yet.

    Optimus - Can't - Be - Disabled.

Sayonara... GS73, didn't even know you, now I don't want to
    :( o_O

I have heard it's the same for all MSI laptops under the GT73/GT83 versions, hopefully there are some exceptions...

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/MSI-GS73VR-6RF-Notebook-Review.172138.0.html

"Optimus is supported for switching to the integrated HD Graphics 530 when desired, but there are no G-Sync options across the series."

    No - Gsync - Across - the - Series...

    Cons

-M.2 SSD and SODIMM access requires additional disassembly
-no individually backlit keys; no Macro or auxiliary keys
-fans are always active; loud fan noise under load
-removing bottom panel will void warranty
-center of outer lid could be more rigid
    -high-pitched fan noise when gaming
    -spongey feedback on clickpad
    -no RAID or G-Sync options
-coil whine on our test unit
    -tight port placement
    -slow SDXC reader

Asus is without a doubt the worst brand to get a gaming notebook from. It's expensive, faulty, overheats and the build quality is inferior to msi / clevo.

I'm trying to justify the price difference between the gt62vr and p650rs-g, but seriously it's hard to find any reason to go with the msi. Since I won't have any advantage going with the RMA (I'll be importing through custom agent) the price performance of the clevo is unbeatable

Actually MSI is way more expensive, expecially now that Asus released those cheapy laptops of the gl502 series. But no, Asus is not faulty, at least not more than any other gaming laptop out there. Everyone has its pros and cons but it's hard to say which is the worst brand.

Well Asus has had a lot of problems with left side USB ports and just quality control problems in general. @Phoenix got like 5 duds in a row from them. Never heard of anything close to that with any other brand. Also have some great misleading advertising where they show the 1070 GL502 as the same thickness as the 1060 version when its much thicker.

His legendary post on glorious Asus:
after owning 4 ASUS laptops...I would never buy an ASUS laptop again.

Never had an Alienware before because of its high price. I had 3 ASUS Gaming laptops, G73Sw, G75VW, and G750JX

After being frustrated with ASUS's bad driver support, and lack of official drivers for Windows 7, I sold my G750JX and got this Alienware.

Now I know why they cost an arm and a leg

    1) much better build quality, it's like you bought a Mercedes as opposed to a honda civic

    2) Warranty is much better, if the laptop spoils, they will come to your house and fix it at your home the next business day. When my G750JX stopped booting within 6 months of owning it, I had to drive to the service center which is very far, and it took them 7 days to replace the motherboard

    3) I wanted a bigger screen and ASUS only have 17.3' screens. This 18.4' screen is a dream to play and surf on

    4) I didn't ask for it, but I got a freebie dual GeForce GTX 770M so my performance has never been better

    5) I love the lighting effects of Alienware

    6) Their audio and KLIPSCH speakers blow the ASUS G750JX out of the water in terms of loudness and quality although both use a Realtek Chipset, but the speakers are better and the Alienware comes with the Dolby Home Theater which improves the audio quality by a great mile

    7) All ASUS laptops has a problem with the left USB 3.0 Ports. You plug in a USB 3.0 HDD to the left top or left bottom ports and it will randomly keep disconnecting. That is for all G750 series, JX,JW,JH,JZ,JavaScript, you name it. don't believe me, just hang around on the ROG forums and see the jokes of problems they have. pathetic for the amount of money you pay. problems with screens,m auto dimming problem, contrast problem.

I wouldn't use an ASUS laptop anymore even if they gave it to me for free! cheap Taiwanese crap!

    Did I forget to mention...

their implementation of Optimus is messed up...it is very tricky to force games to use your nVIDIA GPU unless you do a lot of settings and even then users on their forums complain that the freakin' games are using the Intel HD Graphics! LOL! horrible!

with Alienware, there are no such mishaps...you press FN + F5 and the laptop reboots activating the nVIDIA GPUs and it's stuck like that until you press FN + F5. no room for error of a gaming even seeing your Intel HD Graphics!

you want Testimony ? Please take the time to read this:

why ASUS? because people who buy ASUS cannot afford Alienware, no other reason on earth...that's a fact...I am one of them...

    First laptop, 2 years ago..

    G73Sw:

bought it and ran home like a little child wanting to see my lights in the chiclet keyboards....ooops...no lights...tried all driver updates..BIOS update...nope..

Called ASUS, they told me to bring it to the service center it's an easy fix!! whaaaat?? I buy a 2000 USD laptop and go to the service center next day? oh well..I did and they activated it with their BIOS tweak utility that they don't give to customers! great quality control Taiwanese Engineers! send out laptops for sale that don't work properly as advertised...

after 1 week...the screen started giving me fuzzy images...closing/opening the screen lid fixed the problem....wow!! what did I buy? a 1990 Toyotal Corolla or a brand new gaming laptop??

They said they need to replace my screen! wow!! the laptop can't last a week without being repaired! i fought for a refund and got it after a long hassle...

    next laptop...

    ASUS G75VW,

ASUS decided to remove their awesome creative sound blaster audio chipset and put some cheap VIA audio chipset which made the subwoofer act like a center speaker rather than a subwoofer..

also..I only had the option to get the matte screen...oh well...people say matte is good...right? NOPE! not on ASUS! the ASUS matte screens look as if someone spilled grease all over them. very grainy image especially if you look at a white screen such as these forums or Google..if you look close..you can see the pixels of colorful rainbows! again shocked in awe for this cheap crap!

So I called ASUS complaining about the quality of the screen, they offered to change it to the 3D screen not coz I want 3D, but only because that is the only screen they have that is Glossy..

took the laptop...2 days..I get a call...sorry sir, we changed your screen, but fried your motherboard....we have no spare motherboards...so if you pay $500 USD we can give you a G750JX instead or you can wait till god knows when till we get a motherboard from Taiwan...

    so I got the G750JX...

very bad driver support....ASUS released the win 8.1 drivers after 6 months of win 8.1 was released...anyone who upgraded while having the old drivers either got a non booting laptop after the upgrade due to outdated bluetooth/wifi drivers or had horrible problems....

next comes the 2D performance of their GTX770M....there is something not right about it! 3D was fine and performed as it should...but 2D was glitchy and choppy...imagine even a simple game of solitaire..the motion of the cards wasn't fluid...I used to get jealouse when I see my friends' Intel HD Graphics perform so smoothly in the Windows environment while my brand new gaming laptop cries in 2D...opening tabs in firefox...wow..another plethora of jerkiness / slow motion

next...they put cheap Atheros WLAN chipsets which cannot connect above 72 MBPS!! wow! had to pay 50 USD and get a Bigfoot Wireless N-Killer from the US and pay customs just to have a laptop perform like a normal computer

    next.... USB 3.0 problems..

basically, I had to connect my USB drives to the right ports and the left ones were kept for my mouse and printer? why? because ASUS cannot produce a piece of hardware that functions right! they claim all ports are USB 3.0 and they are all in blue color...BIG LIE! it wasn't only me, I posted this on the ROG forums and every single one of the members verified the same!

I can't find my thread that I started, but here are 2 examples I quickly grabbed:

Asus G750 USB 3.0 Ports not working with some things

    and

Is it normal that the top left USB port is very slow?

    ASUS? HELLL NO!!

Worst case scenario, save some money and wait, then get a real gaming laptop from Alienware and be happy for life! rather than bite your fingers after you buy your ASUS

A quick Google search on the G750JX presents exactly what I experienced! I've probably formatted that laptop over 200 times twice daily just trying to make it work but every time some quirk happens...

don't forget that MSI has, and still does, suffer from insane amounts of backlight bleed on many of their gaming laptop screens because of cheap plastic panels that were flimsy with uneven pressure points. The GT7X series was the worst. Plus cheap creaky lids. The titan series, however, has been good. Each will have some sort of weakness in quality. Remember the first alienware M15x and the hinges, lol

Ok you guys need to stop chewing on asus. They're cheap because they have cheap build quality but if you're one of those people who actually care about how you treat things that you spent over $1500, then you're fine. Of course everything else compared to it is going to be much better, but asus wins for performance and the major components that good build needs to go into. If I had anything to say about them, it's not that "you should never buy another because of something that happened 10 years ago with a 770m," but that they're a smart company who has good valued products for people who actually know how to take care of a high performance machine.

Gt62 has little or no bleed that I can see. I remember reading tons of guys complaint about last gen clevo 15" with bleed asking resellers to add an option to remove it

I've had 7 Asus laptops over the years, as well as tablets and routers, and not one would I consider "cheaply made"

Within the price class of the device, Asus has always had a solid offering.

There are design bugs in some, but it's usually due to 3rd party component integration design failures - like audio comes to mind for the G751, and USB problems ongoing across all the G laptops, but all mine worked fine - as did many others.

I went with MSI because Asus didn't have an 18" SLI 980m solution at the time, but that has changed.

The new Pascal laptops, still coming out, bring lots of additional opportunity for us and the makers.

I wouldn't rule out Asus, find the $ and move up to the next class level in offerings from Asus if you don't like the lower priced cosmetics.

The top level Asus offerings are anything but "cheap" :)

Ok so here's my real rant then. Name one single thing besides maybe aesthetics (if you want the gamer look) a GL502VM does better than a Clevo P650RP. It starts 180 dollars higher, has one less USB port, its built worse, it has less drive and ram slots, and so far, worse temps. You can get a P650RP with 16GB of RAM a 1060 and a 1tb hard drive for 1337 vs 1399 for the Asus. So I don't understand how people keep defending it when its built like garbage and yet there is a cheaper option with more features, options, cooling, and extra features like an RGB keyboard, a better webcam, fingerprint reader, re-programmable keyboard, and lower psu. So no it doesn't win for performance. Value good products my *** they are just trying to profit as easily as possible.

This also isn't from 10 years ago for god sake most are current models.

I'm all for change, and the Asus UX501 is a good machine, but their gaming line is bad. It doesn't win in any category except being the only company who even offers watercooling, so if that's your thing I guess go for it, but everyone else should stay away.

Edit: I'm not even saying the high end Asus laptops are bad machines, I just don't see any advantages, the price of those machines is easily matched by a Clevo with a desktop cpu.

It would be Clevo not Sager but yeah I get it that's harder. Anyway GT72VR all day long if the price is similar. Thing is well built, and if you like audio has a better DAC. Otherwise get whatever is cheaper.

It's a matter of personal choice. Some people like one thing for their personal reasons, and others like other things for their personal reasons.

There is usually not one clear winner, but instead a list of positives and negatives that for one person make their choice clear, and for another person it's just as clear to make a different choice.

Pushing one's personal choices on others, with the ferver you bring, is off-putting and is not going to convince anyone to change their choice.

It's really nothing to get worked up about. Clevo knows their market, and makes efforts to gain market share just like everyone else. They are fine with it all, you can be too.

It's not a single choice is best for everyone world, and that's the starting point for all decisions, personal decisions, the ones we are allowed to make on our own.

Which is *all* of them :)

I can handle all the "cons" of a GT62VR, but I don't know why, but the 4-pin 230W power adapter for the MSI GT62VR bothers me. I guess the extra power is there for over clocking, but does it need 230, wouldn't 200 do the job?

yeah and they can't get left USB ports to work properly on 4 generations of gaming laptops, G750JX and the next 3 generations all had the same problem. You plug an external HDD to any of the left USB ports then start copying huge amounts of data and bam, the laptop freezes completely with no error message. It's all over their ROG forums, heck I'm not even sure if they fixed that issue now as I stopped visiting that forum which is fufll of negativity and problems.

Bottom line, if you want to waste $1500 USD on a laptop that doesn't work as advertised, go for ASUS. And that's not for their laptops, I had an ASUs X-99 Deluxe motherboard in my previous laptops, I've owned every ASUS router under the sun like a muppet thinking next time would be better as I fell prey to their nice marketing and advertising. Don't get me started with the ASUS AC3200 router issues that disconnects till no tomorrow once you're on the SmartConnect mode.

But hey, if you enjoy it, then good for you.

Im not saying Clevo is the best, or that all Asus products suck, the reason I said that was because he was saying he knows they arent built well but are the best value when... They aren't.

There are plenty of decent machines with different options thatll suit different needs, and Asus G752 machines are fantastic when working correctly. But I'd love to see a counter arguement to my P650RP point for the GL502.

His experience seems to me more a long and really bad sequence of wrong choices (of the customer):

    - Lack of drivers support? As far as i know they have always been in the support page and they still are. People always had issues with Windows 8/10 drivers, it's nothing new.
    - Driving to the far service center while he could just ship it for free.He doesn't say if it was an official Asus service center or an authorized one(imho there's a huge difference).
    - He wanted a bigger screen but he choose to buy a 17.3 screen. Then complaining about it.
    - He address the fault of Optimus to Asus instead of nVidia.
    - He's confronting a laptop with Optimus vs a laptop without it and not from a battery point of view.
    - He's confronting a cheap laptop vs an expensive laptop with different hardware and build quality not even thinking about the cost.
    - He gets his new G73Sw defective. Instead of returning it to the retailer and get a refund (there should be a 14days return policy by law) he contacts ASUS and accepts to bring it to this far service center.
    - He only thought about a refund when it was too late.
    - He choose to get a matte screen 'cause "people say matte is good"... Ofc he didn't like it (and probably should have thought before buying it).
    - Again instead of returning it to the retailer he calls Asus asking for a screen replacement.
    - After they fry his motherboard he accepts to add 500$ more for a laptop of the same brand, probably reconditioned. This reminds me of the same experience i had with VAIO notebooks. After (not) repairing my notebook they offered me a 80% refund (cause i used it for more than 1 year) or another model of the same laptop. I got the refund and learned the lesson (no more Sony Vaio).
    - He complains about the cheap Atheros WLAN chipset which can't connect above 72mbps. Again, these are things that you should look before buying a laptop, not after. He accepted to add 500$ knowing what he was buying as a replacement. Then kept complaining.
    - He's grabbing a bunch of threads about people having different issues with their Asus laptops just to say "Hey, you see? Asus sucks!". It's like if you check on MSI/Dell/Alienware/Lenovo/Toshiba support site and read about people complaining about their issues (that's why is a support site). You won't find anyone talking good about his laptop on their support site/forum. And you can't see only black or white.

Imho the big mistakes he made as a customer are even worse than the Asus support problems.
