Just remove 10 screws and you can open it and clean whatever you want. To repaste you have to remove additional screws of the fans/heatsink.
On my old laptop i had even to remove the keyboard just to open it, so yes, it's easy (at least for me).
EDIT: Here's a link of the inside:
-
Wow, that great.. The P650 is 14 screws or so but similar level of difficulty to open.. This makes it even more convincing to get the G502.. You won't have as much storage options to add/slots wise but still it's fine...
-
Prices at pcspecialist are just insane.
I assume most of us here already have storage.
Without storage, 1060 laptop start at 1385$, 1690$ for 170 oO
And because it's EU, this includes taxes. -
GSync currently does not Optimus unless something changed last night. Not sure what that means for monitor overclocking I suppose it would be possible.

They;re not land of thieves... In Europe, we have the VAT, whereas USA and other outer seas continents do not have it. That's why the items are more expensive than in the US market. You can always find good deals in UK or Germany, you just need to know where to look.
HIDevolution offer an insane trans shipping option from US, that is way lower that the added VAT if importing from overseas.dzedi and CaerCadarn like this. -
I'm sitting here admiring the fact GTX1060 is 40% better than 970M. But I'm not sure how much the MSI GE62VR will cost here. It looks like I must wait for them to come, although I shouldn't be too hopeful because I know laptops cost more in Europe than the US.
On a side note, I'm still using my 5 Years old Acer 5750 for pretty much multimedia, school and very light games (Since a 5YO HD 3000 can't do bull, so I can't play my favorite demanding games), and my budget is around 1250$. All I can afford at the moment is a fully equipped MSI GE62 with the Nvidia GTX965M.
Should I keep saving and wait (I'm supposedly getting an extra 200$ next month so make that 1450$) til I can afford an MSI GE62VR with the 1060? I believe it's totally worth it because of *paragraph1*. If I wait, it means I'll suffer more months with a beaten up slow laptop. -

its about 30 % more performant in games than the 980M

Just make sure they have no restocking fee and free returns. Once the 1050 comes out, it will perform like a 980M and be priced around $1199.
I highly recommend avoiding ALL Maxwell notebooks.sasuke256, SkidrowSKT and Georgel like this. -
Indeed, I'd love to know how they do this.. Bought a GPU from them and have never been charged customs duty..

@jaybee83 , @ajc9988 did you'll see the Gentech teardown of the GT62? Do you think the MSI 1070 from there will fit the P771ZM/771DM? It looks like it just might..
P.S: Fail, Jaybee was the one who posted it..

My P170SM-A was $3000 when I bought it 2 1/2 years ago with 4810MQ and 880M. The 1TB SSD did not help pricing, but I am glad I got that when it was new. It originally had 32GB RAM. It never needed it so I upgraded another system with half of it.
-
They're $2k without an SSD, let alone a 1TB SSD.
I bought the Clevo P750DM with a 980M, 256GB SSD, 32GB RAM, with a 2-year warranty last year for $2109. Now it starts at $1899 and is over $2.5k with the highest GPU.
Prices definitely increased. Suggests to me they need to account for something, like a short shelf-life.deadsmiley likes this. -
It's not so accurate. The GTX 1060 model is using the i7 6700HQ while the GTX980/970m is using the i7-4700QM. I assume that's why i have a better frame rate in games than those they reported (and i have a i7 6700hq as well). Also they didn't report the RAM.Last edited: Aug 16, 2016

(1) According to DFC Intelligence, gaming notebooks are the fastest-growing gaming platform in the world, with an annual increase of more than 30 percent. In comparison, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 each had projected growth of negative 4 percent and positive 4 percent, respectivelyShadow God, Georgel, ajc9988 and 3 others like this. -

I'll post my GT62VR with GTX 1060 benchmarks and thoughts after I get it in a few hours. If this model doesn't have G-Sync I'll be returning it promptly though. Luckily Microcenter has 15 day returns no questions asked I purchase a lot of stuff there.
Decided to go GT62 over the GE and GS series because of that MXM card. I suppose I'll deal with the extra weight, gain G-Sync, and have the option to upgrade my card at a later date if they're readily available. -
Looking forward to it

The -RPG suffix must be one of the more unfortunate naming choices recently.

If that's with the G-SYNC 1080p display, not bad, I guess. It'll be fun.

The -S version's "RPG" suffix is actually a typo on XoticPC's website... the suffix is supposed to read "RP 6".

Pricing is really competitive for Pascal notebooks. Under £1500 for a GTX 1070 is really good. That's what the 980M laptops were going for just yesterday.
Even the GTX 1080 pricing is reasonable. I recently built a desktop with a 1080 for almost £2000. The same money can get a GTX 1080 notebook. Everyone used to have to pay so much more for mobility but not anymore. Nice!
-
So if I would order a notebook from HID and they ship it to Austria (not Australia) what would the shipping cost +VAT be?
-
J Dre. does not need me to defend him, but I think you misunderstand.
We have been waiting for Pascal for two years. If at all possible, waiting a bit more to purchase a budget laptop will be very rewarding. This is especially true if a person is considering a 960M, which is really just a slightly warmed over 860M.Shadow God, Ethrem, Mr Najsman and 4 others like this. -
So I am looking for something that is good at gaming but also somewhat portable. I assume the GTX1060 should suffice for 2 years?
-
Excellent! Another one in consideration for me. The G-SYNC is certainly nice; time to put it up against the thinner 1060 systems (GS63 and GL502) and see how much quieter it is.Prototime likes this.

Aorus has a 13.9" GTX 1060 notebook, but it starts at $2100.

So there are no Pascal laptops which are not "gaming themed"? I like the chassies for MSI GS63VR and Asus GL502VM, but I don't want the fancy colors or lights. Are they planning to release Pascal laptops (GTX 1060) which looks more neutral?
-
I would say the Clevo/Sager is your best bet.

Prema saw it done with his own eyes. He does not know if any heatsink mods were required or contact issues, but it fits and turns on! So yes. Msi well work in our machines (potentially with slight mods). It is roughly mxm3.
Meanwhile, he said Clevo cards seem to be their new standard size moving forward, meaning if msi doesn't support us, the 1070 is the list card we get. You may proceed to cry now and can pray msi creates a non-power plug 1080 model with similar layout!

What kind of performance are we hoping for the 1050 ? similar to 970m ?
As well, usually desktop cards are always announced first and still no sign of 1050 desktop so when is the 1050 mobile released ? Christmas ?
What is killing me is that only the 15" maxwell have reduced price, no 17" on discount. A GE72 6QF with 970m in it is still €1300 in France. VAT is killing me. -

About $150 cheaper for "non-S" version: http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8152-clevo-p650rp6.html
Only difference I can see is the "S" model has preconfigured 16GB RAM instead of 8GB, is that right? -
That's a good price. I bought the Asus gl502vt the same. If you check many stores still have the gtx970m at 1700€ or even more. A 1050 mobile version doesn't make much sense since the 1060 is a little bit better than the 980m.Ant1Bard1 said: ↑What kind of performance are we hoping for the 1050 ? similar to 970m ?

Btw still no signs of Pascal laptops in Italy. The only one i found out is the MSI GS63VR 6RF Stealth Pro 4K 15,6 with just the GTX 1060 at 2.299€. Definitely not cheap. -
Hey guys, are these clevo really g-sync compatibile? I know graphic card supports it, but what about the display? It needs to have g-sync support module as well, right?
-
With all those machines, I think Clevo's lineup is perfect and subtle for the price, ASUS looks better than those MSI ugly lineup (imo) with overpriced tags for BGA CPU. I'd suggest to all buyers get the Pascal Clevo refresh, ASUS and MSI locks out users not to intervene with any of the internal hardware and they give OC, What a ****ing joke, with that stock paste ?
And for all people wondering the upgradeability IT's dead the 3.0b is gone, Only the P7xxZ/DM (MSI 1070 only not Clevo 1070) and P870DM only can be upgraded that too need custom heatsinks. Rest all machines are SOL the 980M and Quadro 980 not 980M is the last option, Maybe like the M5500 we can see another Pascal Quadro, absurdly expensive.
Link for all MXM's of Pascal & Clevo refresh. The Clevo 1070, 1080 all share same form factor with new power supply, ditching the 3.0b, MSI 1080 and 1060 MXM form factors are not yet posted
Link for all MXM's for Maxwell, check out the Quadro M5500 MSI card there which is powerful than 980M at MXM3.0b, 150W but forget it, the price will be more than a new pascal laptop I guess.Last edited: Aug 16, 2016Shadow God, Ethrem, jaybee83 and 3 others like this. -

One thing to keep in mind is that the VT didn't have GSYNC (and thus had Optimus), which was good for battery life, but bad for performance. The VS (and the VM, the successor to the VT) both have GSYNC, so I would expect battery life to suffer a bit. Still, this is speculation, thorough reviews are neededmtx0011 said: ↑i'm looking at the ASUS GL502VS-DS71 and the NP8153 (CLEVO P650RS).. the battery life is what makes me indecisive on which to get. the ASUS GL502VT-DS71 had great battery life with 6 hour idle and 2 hours gamings but i don't know if that enough to go onClick to expand...
