Does anyone know if those Sager notebooks like 8152 supports 4k output with those displayports? 60Hz?

The -S has a 256GB SSD, more RAM, and a better wireless card.
MSI doesn't care if you upgrade the machine yourself. -
Cheapest 1060 i could find in my country is hp omen 17.3 inch.
Someone with relevant experience regarding the Omen? Its pretty thin worried about the temp.

It's a hp so I wouldn't trust it's cooling lol..

Ordered a Clevo w/ 1070. Post whatever I can asap. I now have almost perfect Desktop / Laptop parity (which is what I want).

G-sync may not be supported by the non-S versin.

Which model exactly?
-
@moviemarketing
It comes with a 256GB M.2 SSD and 16GB RAM.
EDIT: SSD is not PCIe with the 8152-S.moviemarketing likes this. -

The 980m version of the GL502(vy?) had a gsync monitor I think.
Something I had in mind: Is there a heat difference between an i5-6300hq and a i7-6700hq when used with the same GPU ? -
Can somebody briefly explain what G-sync is and why is it good to have it?
-
There will come also refreshes of Gigabyte models - P55 / P57 are still a bit gaudy but P35 / P37 are quite neutral looking:

it synchronizes monitor refresh rate with the framerate generated by GPU. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_G-Sync

Thanks for tips! I'll probably head for Sager or Gigabyte, they looked quite nice

The Asus GL502 with GTX 1070 for 1699 is a steal.. Do not get Gigabyte, their cooling sucks.. If your getting BGA, the GL502 is better then the new BGA Sager!Mjaaaland likes this.

The only problem is that it lacks of g-sync.

From what I'm seeing, the 502s (the thin VM and thick VS) both have GSYNC this time around, and only GSYNC.TomJGX likes this.

MSI GT62VR with 1060 in the house. Has G-Sync. Setting everything up now. Will be doing some testing.

so no one know about asus resellers in the EU?
does this asus GL502vs actually exist ? -

Is the g-sync feature something specific to the display? Or is it some component that affects refresh rate when connected to external display as well?
For example, if I will almost always use external monitor for games, does it matter if I go with non-g-sync option? -
The graphics card still supports it so I believe it should work.moviemarketing likes this.

For internal displays, only some screens can do G-Sync, so you need to have those specific screen models.
For external displays, you need to have port(s) (HDMI or mini-DisplayPort) driven directly by Nvidia GPU. If there is no Optimus / Optimus is switchable in BIOS, pretty high chance G-Sync should work.
But to be sure, the best would be to verify with somebody who has exactly the same model as you plan to buy (manufacturers very rarely mention if external ports are driven by iGPU or dGPU).moviemarketing and Prototime like this. -
Few questions, do you guys think it's best to hold off buying a 10 series laptop until closer to the holidays (Black Friday) for a possible discount on the price? Also, has there been any mentions from Asus about a GL702vs laptop with a GTX 1070?

Update on the Pascal (excerpts from T|I - Pascal & Clevo P series refresh thread by Prema)
Timespy P870DM3 1080 SLI Stock
Firestrike P870DM3 1080 SLI Stock
It seems the best time to upgrade for those who are waiting since pre-Maxwell for Maxwell owners It depends, call me whatever but I'd re-iterate " Please DON'T waste money on ASUS, MSI, GB, AW B$, get a P series Clevo" P75x-77xDM-x single GPU configs or the Big bad P870DM2-3 (Only difference being 2x230W for 1070SLI, normal individual heatsinks in DM2 vs GRID in DM3 2x330W 1080 SLI, checkout the TI thread for more info on the Phoenix, Wingman beasts), you won't regret the extra cash that you paid for the beautiful hardware with unrestricted firmware.
EDIT:
This is really super Interesting... The MSI 16L1 Barebones with a 6700K CPU

Did the same this morning. Now I want to know what screen I'm getting. Meaning what's the response time and refresh rate. I got the 1080p. Do you think the 1070 can push the 4k screen properly?

Yeah, I've always headed towards Asus, but since I'm going to use the computer mostly at the university, I really want one that doesn't yell "Look at me!". I have little experience with Gigabyte, but if it struggles with overheating, I'll stay away from it
10 minutes ago I came across this computer: http://www.multicom.no/multicom-kunshan-p651r-156-full-hd/cat-p/c1000042/p10634632
I think I will go for that one, since it only costs me 11 500 NOK (1400$) which is very cheap for a Pascal computer where I live. GL502 is 2000$ in comparison. It's probably a portable toaster with low-quality build, but since it's crushing it's competitors when it comes to price, this really got my attention. It's also a "local brand".

Clevo P651RP6-G with GTX 1060, G-Sync FHD screen, i7-6700HQ, 8 GB RAM, 1TB HDD for 1,245 EUR (VAT included).
That's a crazy good price, haven't seen anything near that in Europe.

I have a 21:9 on my desktop 1070 (which has less shaders than the laptop but slower clock speeds- I'd say dead even until overclocking) 2k resolution and it does well with that screen. I don't think 4k will be perfect - can you live with High vs. Ultra? If so, you should be fine. -
What about it? It hasn't even started, if it ever will.
-
Display on this GT62VR seems to only want to overclock to 63hz. Blah. I was hoping for at least 75hz. G-Sync even at 63hz won't be amazing, but I suppose will feel much smoother than without.
-
So you think I made the right decision choosing the 1080p over the 4k?
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk -
when I said EU i meant EU (so not UK) ... that's because having GPB as local currency, usually products are more expensive ...
In fact the link you posted shows that the price in euros would be about 1830euros when the fair price should be around 1700 i think
anyway thank you very much for the link .. at least you're the only one who found something in europePMF likes this. -

No good news here for me. Was hoping (although pretty much given up) for a MXM 3.0b card to replace 970M. Desktop 980 performance would have been possible....
Perhaps I am not alone in feeling a bit letdown.
This is what happens when there is no competition to help uphold standards.
Prices go up and up and choices disappear.

I have the 980m sli but it would probably still work then right same motherboard and all
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -
anyway don't you think it's strange that until now asus msi etc have been more expensive than clevo with the same specs and now they sell for instance a gl502 gtx1070 with os + 256gb m.2 + 1tb hhd + 16gb ddr4 at 1700$ ?
and why are people saying that asus and msi are better than clevo/sager ..
is there something i miss ? -
I don't think people say clevo/sager are worse than asus/msi, I've actually seen the opposite said. Sagers are known for having a no-frills build and generally top-notch cooling. Asus and MSI will offer more interesting builds (subjectively), the option of thin systems, and often a wider range of products.
I've personally been an asus guy for my past two systems but wouldn't knock Sager and am considering the 8152 for my next purchase. -
You miss that there is a lot of newcomers on gaming laptop market (HP, Acer, evga etc) ... so there is competition between them and some have to drop their price in order not to loose some customers ... I don't know why Clevo are more expensive right now.
-
New chasis?

That's fair
I couldn't find the GL502VS elsewhere in the EU, best I got in terms of Pascal notebooks was here:

(but no 502VS there)
