Does it mean 1080 or 1070 is not compatible with NP9377 S then?
-
The main issue is the size of the 1070 /1080 cards, the Clevo one wont fit, the MSI one is a bit extended and the opposite side has a square edge (look for yourselves - 1 and 2) which makes it incompatible with the old machines where there's no wiggle space left out to fix it, I could be wrong But from the pictures it feels impossible to fit, someone who has cards can test but the MSI cards are next to impossible to find...next hassle is this the EC, vBIOS and eDP display (This is a huge thing which is super confusing, more here ).
So yeah, Clevo and Nvidia screwed us hard this time while the machines are excellent to hold them but the card form factor is changed.Last edited: Aug 16, 2016deadsmiley, Papusan and GTO_PAO11 like this. -
Personally, yes. There's always larger external monitors as well if the need arises but at 17" you'd be using scaling for desktop anyway. @SirSaltsAlot
-
That's exactly what it means. Nvidia and Clevo have made our machines EOL. There's no wiggle room for the MSI card either so the 980M seems to be the end of the line for the SM-A series and everything before it.deadsmiley, GTO_PAO11, Ashtrix and 1 other person like this.

Just ordered the Asus Gl502vs. I will keep you updated. Should be here in a few days.
-
Has anyone been able to find reviews and euro prices for the Asus GL502VM ? 1070 is too expensive for me.
-
Guys im about to make an order.
That Asus 502vs (15'/1070/ssd256/8g ram/ wind10) is 1899e in France.
Its by far the cheapest 1070 laptop there and i kinda like it cuz its very mobile.
What do you think? Is the cooling enough to handle that beast?
I would greatly appreciate a link to a review of it...somewhere. -
Hard to find info on the 1060s but he reviewer of the 1070 said other than the card its the same as the 970/980m versions. A guy posted a youtube video of th 1060 in a msi laptop and its a monster.
-
It's what I just ordered....lol.

Reading it right now. It looks to good to be true hahaBeasthunt likes this. -
I picked up the np8153, so 15 inch for me, but I chose a 1080p screen and am having doubts now. I'm thinking I should maybe get the 4k screen instead and should call sager and change my order. Thoughts?

Lol. NP man. My only concern is I hope the display can take a good OC. I'm really begging for 80'ish hz.
Gsync
250ssd
1tb HDD
i7
1070
$1700 USD.
I had no choice. I'm in dire need of one and that hit the spot! -
Hi, is there any kind of information, review etc besides their webpage regarding Sager 8152?
-
I would rather get a 1080 screen and use DSR than get a 4k screen and down sample.Tonrac likes this.

It's even at 1804€ if you buy it to the fnac.com store (if you got the member card) http://www.fnac.com/PC-Portable-Asus-ROG-G502VS-FY032T-15-6/a10013299/w-4
I don't know if there is an error on the typo but the one listed on fnac store got 32Go of Ram. Btw the laptop is not available right now ...
I will wait the complete review of notebookcheck before buying.
@Beasthunt: I hope you will do a review (even a short one with some game testing and temperature). -
What's "DSR"?
-
I'm also considering the VM, the extra 1cm of thickness of the VS is too much for my taste, plus the extra weight which ASUS really understates historically. Unfortunately reviews seem non-existent for now, the price in the US is crazy good (starts at $1399 w/o SSD but I think that's amazing value for 1060 + GSYNC) but availability everywhere is still Pre-order and earliest date I see is 22nd Aug, which is probably why there are no reviews yet.

notebookcheck has done a short test of the gl502vs guys

I'm looking for the cheapest candidates with the GTX 1060 in Europe (Spain). Has anybody found something interesting?
-
The 1080 is really great for 1080p.
-
I'm pretty sure the GL502VS at €1800 from fnac is the cheapest wich nags me out so much when you see you can get a 1070 in the US at that price.
Me and my ~€1100 budget are just crying... -
You're not really going to notice the slight pixel blur on a 15 or 17 inch screen going from 4k to 1080p. It's not the same as going from something like 1440p to 1080p. It's noticeable on large screens but even then it's not as bad as people think it is.Shadow God, Cakefish, Prototime and 1 other person like this.

My budget is €1150. I might as well save more and get me a 1060 by Black friday or christmas...
-
What nags me out is how the price had to increase. Killing the small budget like me.
Right now I can afford €1000 to €1200 wich puts me on the 970m range. The new 1060 starts at €1800 in Europe, way to high for me.
Then people tells me to wait for an 1050 which may be announced in september but maybe later who knows. The 1050 might be in my budget (wouldn't be suprised if starts higher like €1300) but then it would have similar performance of a 970m anyway so what's the point....Chewingum likes this. -
To be fair, the price didn't really increase vs. the last generation at launch, we were just spoilt by clearance prices on 970M/980M for the last few months

Guys
CLEVO P650RS or ASUS GL502VS ? -
I went with the Asus.
-
i was undecided between the 2 of those too. i'm going with CLEVO P650RS it's $150 cheaper and more customizeablePrototime likes this.
-
I went with Clevo
But mostly because there're no Asus offers in Poland yet, and they're probably gonna be pricier than clevo.
There's some UK store mentioned earlier in this thread, i'm pretty sure you can get cheapest 1060 clevo with 4gb ram and no storage for 1250eur or something like that -
I thought the Clevo was only cheaper than the ASUS for 20 ? CLEVO : $1,679.00 ,ASUS :$1,699.00 . I used XoticPC
-
Note, p650rsg does not come with OS, which is about $70.
-
Is the 1080m available separately anywhere?
I built a desktop with a 980ti for 4k gaming, this has me thinking I should part it out and upgrade my m6800 with new video card... -
SAGER NP8153 (CLEVO P650RS) not the -S is $1529. difference is it only comes with 8 gb ram and 1 tb 7200 rpm hard drive and no OS. i already have a hard drive and OS so it works for memoviemarketing likes this.

1080 cards are all non standard MXM boards, it's unlikely you will be able to upgrade to one even if you manage to get your hands on one.TomJGX likes this.

even a 1070 would fit without a power connector so we can still upgrade to these cards (my dear MSI GT72, i'm talking about you pal
)

But the 1070 isn't faster than my 980ti...

For those in France and europe buying a the asus 502, for the same price you can get a clevo P751 with same storage, I5 6600K, 1070 at pcspecialist.

Blah so far I'm having issues getting this GTX 1060 to run games properly. H1Z1 refuses to run in full screen. Well now Siege is running, I guess windows was installing updates in the background without me knowing.

Am I making a mistaking grabbing a sager NP8153 up today? Should I wait a week or two for reviews first? Would that make it easier to decide on which screen is a better option for me? Trying to figure out if the slight blur mentioned earlier is going to drive me nuts when I occasionally have to turn down the settings for certain games.
