eurocom, with their tornado F5
Sent from my Huawei Mate 8 NXT-AL10 -
Their Tornado F5 was one of my early considerations (before they released the Sky X_E2s), and the price was really good, but I didn't know about cooling capabilities so I held back. And it's lighter than the P750 too. Be nice if someone who bought this laptop would give us a review, or even a comparison with the X4E2.

I don't want to abuse eurocom, they're not a big corporation like bestbuy, microsoft store, target, amazon etc.
They're a respectable company that sells quality product, it would feel wrong to buy/bench/abuse/return.deadsmiley, sasuke256, Kittys and 3 others like this. -

excellent score
even the much more expensive g752 with vapor chamber loses against that :]Papusan likes this. -
My p650rs comes within like 500 of that graphics score. I'm happy too xD. Now we just need prema.

If they offer a refund policy and you return it meeting their criteria it's in your right to do so. But good luck returning something that clearly has been disassembled and has any trace amounts of wear and tear without paying a restocking fee.Ashtrix likes this.

I won't do it with eurocom because they're selling proper laptops with good support unlike other major retail stores.
BB doesn't seem to care, neither does microcenter. I always get my money back in full.Prototime likes this. -
I agree to take it easy with these novelty shops. It's more of an independent company that you scratch their back, they'll scratch yours. But actually that's when you work with them to see if they will offer a system for you to review, that's how I got on board with LPC-Digital. I've done a few other odds and ends laptops too from other companies including Aorus and MSI. Most are happy to oblige if you have some respectful history. They want to sell the product and taking a small hit in reselling a used laptop is more than worth the exposure they get by providing a system for a solid review from an enthusiast.Papusan, birdyhands and temp00876 like this.

I guess.

If you have/get an MSI laptop, check out 4:00 - 4:55 to find the "option" in MSI Dragon Center to disable pseudo 100% load which registers as real load to Windows.
This has been a problem mentioned by many; something to be happy to find

Thanks for the heads up, I might be getting an Msi soon.

Thank you for posting this!! There were certainly times my CPU hit 100% usage for no discernible reason and made me wonder. I've now happily disabled USB Boost and Storage Boost.hmscott likes this.

You don't think they abuse you?? No wonder people are buying online its about the same amount of customer service which is none. I worked at future shop, best buys counter part in Canada before they merged the brand when I was in school and the mind set of the management was really just upsell upsell up$ell and always bundle accessories(especially HDMI cords) with high markup. Instead of addressing your needs or helping you with anything. Also most people who work there are totally clueless about the products they sell. They don't care about there employees always hiring part time or seasonally. Always pushing that dam extended warranty with high pressure sales tactic's(they wouldn't sell it if they weren't making money on it) basically telling you your product your buying is crap and WILL break. I know its a business and business is all about the $$$$. Guess that capitalism though which I'm not hating on its just this goes both ways. A company that looks after you look after it....They crap on you, you crap back...just like a relationship with other people.....

Hey all, been lurking these forums for a long time and have found it insanely insightful.
Quick question, in light of Alienware not releasing an 18" model and the Acer 21x launching in the New Year, is there any chance that maybe a 1080 Ti is on tap for notebooks as well? Or is the 1080 the best that we'll get?
Thanks!
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
well theres definitely gonna be a successor to the 1080, no idea though if nvidia will decide to introduce a titan class gpu to notebooks... (Ti being basically titan class)

It never happened before, and titan class gpus are 250w+. I guess until 7/10nm you wont see those in laptops because phisics.
-
Technically it did happen before, it was called the GTX 480M. Full size "Titan-class" (at the time) die on a mobile mxm form factor.hmscott likes this.

My god that was Fermi? Must have been a thermo nuclear reactor!!!!
TomJGX, Ashtrix, sisqo_uk and 1 other person like this. -
And was crippled worse than GF104, with pathetic clock speeds.
480M didn't run that hot (70-80 C under load) due to extremely low clock speeds/voltage and big die spreading heat out, but it guzzled power (1st 100W mobile GPU ever) and performed poorly, only 10-15% faster than 50W ATi 5870M. -
Either way, it was a full size die, with shaders disabled of course. Til this day I still want to play with one with a proper vBIOS to see what it can do.Ashtrix, smoking2k, hmscott and 1 other person like this.

physics dont matter in this case. the phoenix 2 is able to handle 2x200=400w of gpu power at stock with the vapor chamber GRID hestsink. put that on a 250W Titan and ull be good to go, even with 150W+ to spare for juicy overclocks

Hopefully they take a GT73VR, put an LGA CPU and a 1080Ti in it, and sell it to us at a half-decent price. If it can handle 1070SLI, it can possibly handle a 1080Ti (maybe downclocked a bit).
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk -
I can see a Titan X (Pascal) or 1080Ti single working in the P870DM3 with a modified version of the GRID heatsink and the PCB being much larger for the GPU.
Maybe we'll see something like that with Volta or a Pascal refresh. Or even AMD (LOL)Papusan likes this. -
AMD options are on their way actually... Alienware will be first to offer them besides Macbooks.

I know but I meant a desktop class GPU in our laptops like a Fury X or Fury Nano.TomJGX likes this.
-
Oh it was.. I remember a friend with a 480M/485M Clevo notebook and the heatsink to cool the GPU had so much copper lol.. Never seen that much till this day!
Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk -
485M was based on the smaller chip though, was much faster and way cooler than the 480M
not as in "cool" but definitely coolER
i actually started off with a 485M in my previous P150HM

With the dektop 1050 Ti's release supposedly on the 19th, and the 1050 the 26th, you guys think they'll hit laptops by the end of November?

Well, MSI gp62 has a 1060 3GB. I think is the first in the wild?
If its not too expensive I think its a better option the a 1050ti. I guess more models will show up wit this slighty inferior 1060. (I'm guessing its the same difference as the desktop ones)
Or weight and thikness is your concern? -
The GP62 could be a great deal, since the 3GB 1060 performance in games was close to the 6GB 1060 performance.

*1060 6GB, you meant, right?
4GB should be the 1050.
3GB is enough for today on 1080p. (Just...)hmscott likes this. -
Found it on Amazon. The 1060 SKU is actually around $1400

There's no consensus on price, from $1349 to $1519 in 4 listings, all the same Pro-218 model. I didn't see a "list" price at MSI...
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=GP62MVR+6RF+ -
10% fewer shaders, 5-9% less performance... seems about right. What about 1080p? I think if you're going with 3GB model, I wouldn't bother with higher than 1080p.

There is an Amazon Prime listing @ $1349:

No reviews anywhere I can see yet, just the product page at MSI:
