no it isn't that bad when atitool find artifacts. Atitool is just very sensitive.

I was wondering what is the best v*******.rom for uping the voltage to 1.24 with a 90w power supply. I want to up the voltage to get better stability -- like someone else, I am getting slight artifacts at 460/1100 using ATI Tool -- but don't want to mess anything up. I want to go 500/1100 with the voltage at 1.24, but wondering if the risk is too great.
Anyway, thanks for the help! -
I keep getting an error when trying to open any .rom
-
I can tell you that you an go up to 550/1100 V with a 90w power supply with safety, i have A merom 7400 and a voltmoded GS to 600/1150, but i get shutdows from the 90w power supply, becuase the 7400 merom uses more V than Yonah. ANy one interested in 2 90w power supplies in exchange for 1 130w?
I need advice to solve this problem. -
These roms are for Dell Laptops..
Is yours a Dell ? -
-
-
Edit: Worked fine but my 90w adapter got really hot so I went down to 480/1100 and its doing fine. GPU temp is showing 70-72c after 30mins of Oblivion. 3d Mark 05 went from 6298 to 7518. Almost like a free upgrade -
-
Hear ya go, cheap 150W supply! You will have to change the notebook DC adapter.

Hey, we know their batteries are a blast -
With a volt mod, does it affect battery life??? And who has used it with the 90w power supply? Thanks
-
Absolutely! Your battery is only 11VDC so the current demands are very high. Lots of people claim no problems when doing volt mods but now that your asking your GPU to work far harder than stock, how can your 90W supply not be affected?
-
Tried many firmwares yesterday to optimize the video card. 4801100 give me a little better score over the baseline - about 4100. However the temperture rises to about 75 C when the computer is idle. It's weird but every OC to 1.24V gave me a very low score - about 2000.
Do you think is something wrong with my system?
I'm using 90W adaptor and single pipe. -
Why would anyone overclock a graphic card this good?
-
What I don't know is if you Gateway owners will have to use a boot disk to use nvFash to get the new .ROM files to stick?
Let us know.. -
Hi all,
Sorry to jump in with a diffrent topic , it seeems you all
know your stuff. Could some body tell where I can find a dual pipe for my e1705 go7900gs...Please
Thanks -

also ebay and Dell parts. If you don't mind please post the prices. -
People often overvolt their cards becuse someone told them so, well here is some evidence on why it is not necesary for some of us, you can get the same performance and stability at the original 1V. Just use nbiteditor to set the MAXIMUM VID (7) to 1V
Only with your stock bios that came directly form dell, (i forgot to back up mine) or with a custm bios with the highest VID (7) at 1V, can you run your card at 1V, becuse the roms on the popular ISO`s have their VID (7) at 1.24, and becuse it is built to use the highest VID avaible, your card will allways run at 1.24 even if you think that its running at 1V. Try usng riva tuners monitor utility to see the current VID of your card and its info tool to see what is its corresponding voltage. Not all cards are the same, but mine runs at 600/1200 at 1V with the same performance and quality as with 1.24v, and i am pretty sure that everyone elses too, just be sure to have higher GPU clocks when ocing the memory over 1000Mhz. (use 525/1050 instead of 490/1150 550/1100 instead of 790/1150 and so on, becuse this configuration are more stable)
The first picture shows a succesfull no artifacted 3rdmark 05 test at 1V the second is at 1.24V
The third picture is mi highest 3dmark 05 score (the voltage had nothing to with it) The fourth picture shows my best 3d mark 06 score at 1V with merom running at 2GHz 0.16 lower than normal, i will soon post my top scores becuase i now have merom succesfully running at 2.16Ghz and the overclocked GS with a 90w AC adapter with the help of MRclock utlity.
i Will do more research on the power cunsomtion side efects, but as far as i can messure, what determinates your power consumption is not the voltage, but the clocks at wich your card is set to. keep this in mind and start using your own rooms.Attached Files:

I was playing battle field 1942 for about 5 hours straight ... hehe.
Then I stopped and used my laptop for about 3 more hours.
I was dloading something , then I got BSOD!
It was something about memory and hardware. Is it linked to the OC? -
maybe you are using rmclock and got a bsod becuase you downclocked your CPU too much, that was my problem tooa while ago, i got to eccited when i found out i could downclock my CPU
-
Can anybody help me get a boot cd to overclock my card?I mean,if possible, anyone kind enough can send me a copy of the bood cd to me?cuz I can't burn it myself right now...
,I'm in New York state...

After some research on the Thermal design power, i found this:
GeForce Go 7900 GS
Core Clock - 375MHz
Memory Clock - 500MHz
TDP - 20W
Since the GS is only a laserlocked, downclocked GtX with different memory chips, the thermal design of the GPU should hold the same values (45W TDP) without major problems.
Since tdp (thermal design power):
p=v*v * f * k
(p= power, v= voltage, f= frequencie), k = constant)
a 7900Gs has a TDP of 20W, so k = (20/375) / 1V = 0.05
a 7900GTX has a tdp of 45W, so k = (45/500) / 1.54V = 0.06
so if i choose 450 vith 1v,
tdp = 0,053 * 450 *1 = 24 W
but with 550 and voltage 1,24 i get a tdp = 0,053 * 550 * 1,24*1,24 (v square) = 44.81 W !
hmmm, thats close enough to the GTX`s 45W tdp, with a 50 Mhz increase.
When we change the voltage of the card, we are indeed increasing its tdp by a lot. Some may say its necesary to gain stability, but i insist that every card is different and that people shoud be using their own rooms, becuase all of the roms on the iso are set to 1.24V. Read this.
45W TDP is not that high, but we must keep in mind that most of us are using a sigle pipe card and that the GTX is using a double pipe for cooling. So try staying under the 45W TDP with a single pipe GS to ensure a safe overclocking, having in mind too, that the voltage increase is not allways necesary and that you should not only scan for artifacts with atitool, but in and games and 3d mark too, becuase after all atitool is just a stress test, (unless you game with with atitoollol).
Think twice and judge your cards stability before increasing the voltage; if there is no need to increase it, then you are just increasing temps on the card witout any good reason.
After this i would fell confident increasing my voltage up to 1.3V, but since the GS memory cant go over 1200 (atleast mine) and i like running sincronized clocks between memory and GPU, and because i have a single pipe card, i am not going to do it. I like my Gpu running cool, and that is why i am staying at 1V with 575/1150 clocks, and a final TDP of 27.75W (instead of 44.28W TDP with 1.24V)
i thank oussama omar for the intel, and feel free to correct me if i am wrong. -
Hi everyone
well i begin first by congratulate Yolda for his idea :
I compute my actual tdp : i think it is about 30 w, that's great.
I made some tests with 3dmark05/06 i have no artefacts, it's clean with a great score....(i improve my performance level from 6200 to 8300 under 3DMARK05)
thx to yoldaAttached Files:

hi there,
where can we can I get the nbiteditor?
thank you -

Thank you very much I believe.
Followed your step, got a 8834 for my 3DMARK 05.
Temperature is also reasonable, around 50 - 55 C idle. Will REP you.
Thanks again,
Tambeng -
Try to rep I believe but I couldn't. I think you have to have a certain number of post before someone can rep you.
Thanks anyway, it's working like a charm and no artificat issue whatsoever. -
"i will soon post my top scores becuase i now have merom succesfully running at 2.16Ghz and the overclocked GS with a 90w AC adapter with the help of MRclock utlity"
Yolda, does this mean that you also overclock your CPU? and you are just using the MRclock utility? -
Then you calc with the variable k = ( p/ f ) / v. (see next line)
a 7900Gs has a TDP of 20W, so k = (20/375) / 1V = 0.05
Shouldn't that calculation be: k = p/(v*v*f)??? -
I have gone and went back to the stock voltage (1v) as according to Yolda. I tried 575/1150, but mine had artifacts after 5 min. of ATI Tool scanning. I then went down to 550/1100 and have had no artifacts in ATI Tool at 1v, though the temperatures are the same as before and climbed faster than when it was with the 1.24v mod -- does anyone know why?
Temps were stable at 84C (peaked at 86C). 3d Mark 06 score of 4583. However no artifacts to report so far. The previous roms provided by joker did have the 3d set at VID 7 and 1.24 even though it was set elsewhere at 1v.
Well I will update. Nice to have it on stock voltage again, but will continue to test the stability. Like to hear more feedback from others.

if i flash my VBIOS, can i flash it back to orginal settings whitout any problems ?
i read somewhere at the forum, that you CAN OC whitout flash the VBIOS, "bypass" something, or ?
about this 1V or 1.24V, can i decide whish volt i want, when i flash ?
and how much "gaming power" (fps) do i get if i OC normaly ? i play mostly BF2. -
-
is it worth to OC if you just want to play BF2 at 1024 x 768 with full AA ?
maybe the laptop works great anyway,
my rigg:core 2 duo 2.0ghz (4mb L2-cache), 2 x 1024mb (667mhz) ram, go7900gs, 80gb 7200rpm. -
If you don't see any lags or slowness in your game then I would recommend not to overclock your graphic card.
I am playing Oblivion with the highest settings and resolution and it does help to overclock my graphic card. -
hello, all,
finally i decide to improve my overcloak to 600/1200
with those parameters (screen shot)
have no crach, seems to be good and temperatures are good but not perfect
for 2D, that's no matter of course but when i play sometimes i reach with 80 degrees (celsius)
i want to know which driver you use ?
i use the 84.69 from dell website and i have a little 8500 under 3DMARK05

so, all this::
You can use a program now to OC 7900GS in dell's???
thought they were locked? -
which program do you mean.
ps. is it best to run the OC with 1.0 v or 1.24 v, i heard that you can run with 1.0 v even with high clock -
-
My desktop 7600 gs runs at 62C constant and I haven't even OCed it yet
-
my temperature under windows are a bit high...with stock rom i had 55-65
degrees...now i am under 70-75 degrees...
maybe there is a solution, shall i change fanspeed ? i precise fan doesn't work under 78 degrees
look at screenshot for rom settings (i overcloaked to 6001200 under 3D)Attached Files:

with stock clock (375/1000, go7900gs) you get ~ 3800 in 3dmark06, and with OC 490/1100 you only get ~ 4200 in 3dmark06. is it worth it ? how much more gaming power (fps) do i get with ~400 points more ? maybe i allready have the power, whitout OC.

Hey, I just tried to OC my laptop for the first time and I have a few quick questions. Is there any way I can tell if it worked? And when entering the command I would just type "R:\nvflash 4501100.rom" right? Hmmm, just trying to follow the guide to a T so I don't mess up. Thanks.
Edit: I tried a few commands because I wasn't sure. I also tried something like R:\nvflash\4501100.rom. Hmm, my temps are deffinetly higher... -
dont ever never flash anything if you not 110% sure.
-
rofl, yeah, I shouldn't have (ESPECIALLY because I don't have accidental damage) , but anyway what do you say about my question?
-
Hey is it safe to change my clock rates with this nibitor thing?
Well, I didn't manage to change my clock speeds. Is it at all possible for someone to tell me what exactly to type in (I just want to set my clocks to 450/1100). I think it might have something to do with the fact that it doesnt spit me out at R:, it takes me to Q: for some reason (is that normal?). The guide is a little vague when it comes to this. -
Hi Spook,
You are correct, you can just run the "nvflash 4501000.rom"
The way I know about the result is:
1. To run benchmark like 3dmark that will show you have a higher number.
2. You can run the nibitor.exe and choose the read from BIOS and then I think you have to click accept (if I'm not mistaken), it will then show you the clock speed of your 7900GS, with 4501000, it should show 450 and 500 (DDR2, hence make it 1000).
Hope that helps,
Tambeng -
so i think it could be interesting for someone who wants to play with higher definition or anti aliasing...
but today maybe it s not very important, lets see this question in the futur..
for example i get the same value under 3dmark 05 in 1920*1200 with overcloack as i get in 1024*768 with stock rom...Attached Files:

i dont understand english so good, thats why i dont understand the guide after he say, - "spit out to R:........".
and what is this program "NvFLASH" do exactly. i also read that you can OC with 1.0 volt, instead for 1.24 volt. is it better with 1.0 volt if you want be carefully.
7. You'll be spit out to the R: drive promt
8. From this point you have to select a ROM file to flash to your graphics card. The way you select it is by loading a ROM into a program called NvFLASH. Below is the list of all the files, I'll explain what they mean right after that
9. What your looking at there is what you'd get when you do a dir /w command.
This is how you interpet the name of the ROM files. The "v" in front of the numbers represents that your graphics card is being set to 1.24 volts (The voltage is done by the ROM, no need to physically modify the card). ###, the first three represent the CLOCK this ROM will set your graphics card to. The next four #### represnt the MEMORY speed this ROM file will set your graphics card to.
