is there something wrong with my laptop?
I'm only getting ~1897 with 3dmark05.
see sig for specs.
-
No, your 3DMark score is alright.
-
but it sucks.
is there a way to boost it without spending money? -
You can overclock the GPU which is the bottleneck but it's somehow troublesome
The other way is to use optimized drivers and clean up your windows. -
how would I do the latter?
-
I'm not very good at drivers, you can search the forum or ask Chaz about them.
As for the tuning : http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=5787 -
thanks mujtaba

3562 on 3dmark06 (not overclocked or anything yet)
-
that link you gave me is all greek to me mujtaba.
is there some sort of program I'm supposed to DL or some run command I'm supposed to type? -
Diskeeper and TuneXP are supposed to be download (you should do it step by step - don't worry links are provided for every program you should download) -
the optimizing windows part
I'll try this Diskeeper and Tune XP, but they look complicated. -
Don't worry, they just look scary
-
Over CLocked from 380/420 to 435/490 and got 05: Previous 2970 Now: 3612
06: Previous:1489 Now:1844
Is this a good result?
Also in the Ati tool it says my bus speed is 128bit so is this on parr with 128mb x1600? -
It's a very good performance jump
Just make sure you can control the extra heat.
If it's really 128-bit, it means that your bus is the same as mine. The correct bus bandwidth. (Can you explain how you determined the bus bandwidth ?) -
Well in ati tool u go properties and it says and i dont overclock as the games i play dont need it just wanted to see what results i would get.
-
I'll upload my results next week when I get my new lappy (specs in sig).
-
I'm looking forward to it
-
Should get amazing results nevertheless. -
EDIT : Please go to the first page -> performance tips. -
Just an update about the go7600 with low 3dmark06 scores. I tried the dreaded reinstall of vista in Japanese! It was actually very simple and much faster than I expected. I installed the latest chipset drivers and graphics driver (158.18)......the result? NO IMPROVEMENT!!! So I reintalled vista again, this time installing only the graphics driver - NO CHANGE! Installed chipset drivers - again NO CHANGE! Still the score of around 850-900 in 3dmark06. I read elsewhere that some owners of the Alienware M5550 with very similar specs were getting the same bad performance with this graphics card. Im starting to think that a large number of laptops are shipping with faulty go 7600 graphics cards - when I took my computer back to the shop, the same computer there was the same!!
Anyone else with this problem? -
EDIT: Just noticed when reading Nvidia Control Panel Guide, that there's no PowerMizer setting available for Vista. So again, I suggest you check that guide I provided a link for. Especially read carefully the Power Options under the Control Panel section. I believe your PCI-E may be set to run at power saving mode... -
Thanks for the reply! Thats a useful guide there - I recommend people download it. I was thinking perhaps something is stuck in power save mode somewhere, but I checked absolutely everything I can think of - I checked in the bios setup to make sure the powersave options were switched off. I checked in vista power settings, including the ones suggested in the guide - they're all set to maximum performance. The PCI power save settings are switched off, but I also tried moderate and full - no difference.
I have no way to check the powermizer settings for this graphics card in vista, but I ran ati tool, and I actually set the low power settings (clocks) the same as the full power settings (450/350) with no luck! I just installed the latest beta driver - 158.24 - exactly the same...
I am running vista 32 bit version.
Any more ideas much appreciated... -
OMG! Ive half fixed this!!! BUT I dont know what Ive done and it still aint right!! I hope someone can give me some advice....
I installed and ran riva tuner. I went to the customise target adapter and went to the low level system tweaks. I went to the PCI device ID settings and changed graphics adapter identification from 'determined by hardware' to 'geforce'. I ticked the box to enable rom straps for pci device id programming.. and the result.....
Well, I tried to run 3dmark06 - but I got BSOD!!! It tells me some device driver is trying to corrupt something or other. So I booted up again and ran oblivion. WOW!!! SO smooth!! I notched up the settings to max resolution (1200x800) turned on HDR, turned on grass - this wouldve resulted in a slideshow before but now - smooth as silk!! GPU temperatures are same as before. But it aint perfect - far from it... although the game is fine in game, apart from some stops and starts, when I go to the menus, I get some flickers - I dont think its 3d card artifacting - the in game 3d performance is fine - no yellow dots or stange/flickering textures, its only when I bring the menus up - this is actually quite bad. Also, my computer now things it has a 7650 GS in it!!!!! Rivatuner says 7650 GS and vista says so as well! Windows also uninstalled my graphics driver on the BSOD crash and it installed another - driver version 7.14.10.9686. Im now gonna try to update this to the latest driver.
Anyone with any ideas what I've done here? Any ideas much apreciated! -
Great one
Well, from what I have been putting together :
It seems that the V-Bios (which for your laptop is a part of the laptop BIOS) has been programmed to disable the pipelines [it's very likely] or some other things.
But whether they were right to do this or not remains to be seen... -
There is no way that e1705 can score 9000+ on 3Dmark05.
-
It was overclocked [porbably unlocked] and was bios modded too.

3DMark06: 1612 -
Excellent!
It'll be great if you do the 3DMark05 too.
(I'll include the data soon) -
Results are in. Stock out of the box here's what I get.
3DMark05v130 - 8391
3DMark06v110 - 5070
In a few minutes I'll update to the latest drivers from Nvidia and run the tests again. -
Wouldn't it be a better indication of the system if you use the standard score for the e1705? just my 2 cents.
-
EDIT : Oh,Do you mean stock clocks ?
-
yes. It would be kind of unfair to compare the stock clock of one video card to a overclocked one.
-
I found a stock clocked benchmark. Will update the thread soon.

Hi,
I have a rather different spec. for my A8Jr with different scores for the 3dMark05/06 tests.

3dMark06 - stock 479/391 - 888
3dMark06 - OC 526/428 - 993 -
Clemo What Grafix Card?

Thanks
I will add it later. -
I get 3603 on 3dMark06 with my Inspiron 9400. Is this ok for this system?
-
Josh -
3dmark05 of approx 1635 and 1850 stock and OCed on a Go7300 on the LG C1
screenies attached in the LG C1 review link on my sig.
Since I couldn't find the Go7300 on the table in the OP, you may want to add the scores there Mujtaba -
My laptop see sig has a much better processor and running stock clocks of 350/700 as well, i get 1496.
How can a weaker laptop get a better 3DM05 score? -
The 3DMark05 has an error range, we should consider that.
-
Another funny thing I noticed was while doing a test OC on the GPU, I installed coolbits to unlock the OC settings on the default nvidia drivers, and then I let the drivers generate the optimal OC clock.
The auto generated OC was 476 mhz (from default 350) for the GPU and 952 mhz for the memory (from default 700) ..a massive 36% :surprised: after which I got this:
Maybe I got a nice chip ..LOL j/k
I didn't take the default clock screenie, though I'll perhaps do that in a couple of days
However, one thing that may have made a difference is that the LG came with almost zero bloatware and all the benchies were run after optimizing the startup apps and services thru msconfig and services.msc
If you had resource hogs like NAV or Mcafee running on your Asus, they may have taken a toll on the benchies -
Im running Win xp pro sp2 and i just did a full format/OS re-install a couple of days ago and ive optimised my system (disabled startup/background services, used TuneXP etc etc).
That sux man. My laptop beat by a 10.6" munchkin.
What driver version u using? I have 84.63.
Coolbits gave me 416/833?!!! Rivatuner gave me 455/850 and that was stable in 3DM05 (and got 1682). Can you use rivatuner to see what it will let you go up to?
Im hacked off at this man!!! -
Are there any 'Santa Rosa' notebooks with DirectX 10 graphics cards already tested?
...to include 3DMark scores into the 'mujtaba' chart... -
There are, but sadly, the 8000 series are getting ridiculously high scores, which do not match with their real life benchmark performance.
It's probably the drivers auto-detecting the benchmarks.
PCMark-3DMark05/06 scores for the current laptops.
