They did only showed P870 / 775 at Computex. I just hope that It's a GPU refresh not a whole refresh for the world's best DTR notebook.

Are you sure?) There was a complete line-up http://www.sabrehifi.com/2016/06/computex-2016-booth-raid-clevo.html
Found some info about new MSI laptops. It says that updated MSI laptops with Pascal will abandon G-Sync, because of "low demand for G-Sync". GT73VR/GS73VR should get 120Hz TN and 4K IPS displays. GT62VR - no Type-C/TB3, no Sabre Hi-Fi audio, no GTX 1080 (GDDR5X). But GT83VR improved cooling looks promising) Just take it with a grain of salt.

The GT73S/GS73S both use the same panel, and MSI doesn't say TN or IPS, just 120hz @ 5msec
Here is the closest clearest view of the GT73S Specs card in the MSI booth. It doesn't say IPS, but it does say wide screen viewing angles, I hope that's code for "not TN".

hmscott,
Yep, could easily be a mistake in the info I found) I see lots of new TN 1080/1440/4K G-Sync/Freesync panels intoduced for PC users, i just don't get it. Hope no more TN for laptops this time.hmscott likes this. -
Well, it's not clear, I haven't seen TN specifically mentioned except by you, I also see all the video reviews don't say either TN or IPS, and the spec cards for the GT73S and GS73S - which both use the same 120hz 5ms panel - both don't claim IPS or TN.
Here is a presentation by an MSI booth person, and he doesn't say either IPS or TN, just 120hz 5msec:
I guess we will have to wait for the official announcements and / or hands-on reviews to find out the panel info

I've got my GSync IPS overclocked to 100hz and I'm pretty happy with it. But.. and yes I'm in the minority here, I'd trade IPS and GSync for 144hz TN any day of the week.

Am I the only one here who'd trade G-sync and 144 Hz for a 16:10 IPS panel?

Nope. I prefer 16:10 as well. That's why I bought Dell U2412M. Overpaid about 100 EUR for it, if you compare the price for a similar 16:9 model, but in the end it was totally worth it!
Damn savages... -
Just use an external monitor
Got the same display, one of the best investions Ive made, never doubted its worth.
Btw, Im using f.lux to control brightness since using the buttons daily would wear them out quick. -

Speaking of which - I'm planning to build a desktop fairly soon, with the Dell U2415H. Is it a worthy upgrade over the 2412? -
It seems so (looking at reviews), that tiny bezel is insane though ! It costs about as much as when I bought my 2412 too.
Also keep in mind that your games will render above FullHD, so a couple frames less compared to FullHD. (Still worth it, its the bee's knees

Some leaks that are promising: some we know of, some are speculation, and some seem very plausible.
MSI Lineup to be called GTXXVR 6RX where the first XX is 72, 73, 62, 83, etc. and the second X will be D, E, or F.
The D series will have the 1060 with 6GB GDDR5
The E series will have the 1070 with 8GB GDDR5
The F series will have either single or SLI 1080 8GB GDDR5X
All desktop chips with possible CUDA/Clock modifications to equal 95-100% of desktop variants at stock. End user will be able to OC to get more out of them, but battery boost will be at play in the 1080 cards.
One issue I see is that the first batch of 6QD and 6QE may have the i7-6700HQ chip as opposed to the 6820HK, and the HM170 chipset not CM236. I struggle with this but seems like they may do this for lower cost today and then release more at higher cost in a few months, aka holiday shopping.Ionising_Radiation, spmo and hmscott like this. -

why not? if u specced out a p870dm with a 980, 32gb ddr4 and a 950 pro super raid setup ud get to the same cost level...3600€ actually makes sense!
in any case, all of them sport BGA cpus, so of no interest to me...

Great, 1070 for 3000 dollars, 1060 for $2500.... How much will 1050 cost then? $2000? It's just ridiculous!

If you convert the price of 1060 to USD, it's about 2600. Does this make sense to you?

GT73VR looks sexy at the bottom. The cooling seems way better than GT72 had. But, as jaybee mantioned, no desktop CPU is killing the whole idea of such a DTR with desktop GPU and BGA cpu at 3.2GHZ) If MSI gets rid of G-Sync it'll be another bummer.
GT83VR is another joke. No RGB keyboard, save cost, no LCD improvement, save cost, but hey... we have FullHD screen and dual full fat GTX 1080 SLI for ~4600$. Well done, MSI)
We could probably see panels upgrade when vendors switch to Kaby Lake early 2017.

We have already discussed Pascal notebooks pricing and MSI new models in this thread before
There will be some price increase, but it's not as bad as it looks from those non-US / non-EU shops.
E.g. for GTX 970M => GTX 1060 refreshed models it's something like at most +100-200 USD / EUR

Also something to keep in mind - you have to compare pricing with Maxwell models at their launch date (back in 2014), not with their current discounted prices (sometimes dramatically so). -
well, dont forget, the first leaked prices are always higher than the actual retail prices at first day of regular ordering, so well have to wait and see
besides, when could u EVER compare notebook to desktop prices and NOT be disappointed in terms of performance? thats the price of mobility! i myself just specced out a desktop system totaling 4100€ for fun's sake and it would blow any highend laptop out of the water easily!

First post! Been looking around the forum for years but finally registered a year ago. Anyway, I would take those prices with a grain of salt, those prices seem to be in PHP or Philippine peso, I lived in Philippines for a few years and tax there is 100 percent. Also, I was in Manila a year ago checking out a PC store and sad to say someone tried to sell me on a GT72 970m 3gb for almost double the price here in the states.Robbo99999, Ionising_Radiation, jaybee83 and 3 others like this.

Seems like the + 60% 1080 brings are for a pretty high price (?)
I wonder right now if it's the exact best moment to pick a 980 desktop based P870, but if 1080 cards won't fit (Why are they refreshing?), it might also be smart to wait (?) -

I don't see how it'd ever make sense to buy an expensive 980 machine, this close to Pascal, when the mobile 1070 will crush it with ease.
-
Because they will be cheaper. But i doubt you will be able to buy those with the 980DT as it is.
-
True that. Plus 1070 Desktop is already slower than a 980ti anyway, so it ain't crushing' a 980 Desktop anyway. We'll need to see the 1080D for crushing action.jaybee83, Papusan, bloodhawk and 1 other person like this.

The differences can be as high as 2000$ for a 980 now vs 4000$ for a 980 based notebook at launch (?)
That's a pretty high difference, no matter how you look at it.
Just saying, people who are looking to save some money can also go this route.
And 1080 is about 70% faster for desktop version.
1070 is somewhere in the ball park of being 40 faster than a 980 notebook card.
It seems like one should really make peace with his choices since this is a pretty huge investment.
A 980 is about 350% better than my 860m XD. 1080 desktop would be 550% better. Put in this perspective, it sure makes a lot more sense getting 1080, no?
