Thanks! I was mostly being silly, but I do appreciate the thoughtful response! :) Unless we get more definite news soon that Pascal gen 2 or Volta will come out no later than April 2017 (doubtful), I'll pick up a Pascal laptop by December latest. As you say, definitely can't wait another 2 years.

I say we petition nvidia to name their next GPU after Einstein as "Hawking." That way, when the GPU heats up, we can say it's emitting Hawking radiation.

...sorry, that was bad, I'll just show myself out  :p

So the 1080m is going to be equivalent to GTX980 sli? That is insane. Will there be a gtx1070m with equivalent desktop gtx1070 performance at a $1500ish budget price I wonder? Would love a 1080p laptop with a gtx1070m and a gsync display.

In the Philippines, gt72vr(1070) is 3k USD, gt73vr (SLI 1070) is 4k USD and gt83vr (SLI 1080) is 6k USD. It will stay there until the next generation gpu comes.

    Meanwhile...
    Full desktop Zotac AMP! GTX 1070 x 2 in SLI with i7-6700K + ASUS Z170A-ATX + 16GB 3200 MHz RAM DDR4 + 750Watt Corsair RM 750 + Cooler master hyper 212 + 4K UHD 3840 x 2160 Asus gaming monitor 24 inches
can be purchased for 1800$ USD

    ~Decision decision.... :p :p :D :D

If GTX 1070 SLI Laptop is 4000$, might as well buy desktop for 1800$ and spend the 2200$ to buy some decent laptop

You might want to get either 2 strix or 2 amp cards and not 1 of each for SLI.. Not good mixing brands lol.. I would go for Strix tbh, Asus warranty should be better then Zotac..

I would personally go with desktop, I'm leaning that way too now.. You have a AW15 so that's plenty enough laptop side..

Where I live, configuring a desktop like that would cost me US$ 2500-2700, and no laptops worth their salt are available at decent prices. You are lucky, my friend.

RJTech have updated their pages with the new laptops, price of P870DM with 6700K, 32GB RAM, 1070SLI is around 2600... This excludes the cost of any storage.. Not bad if you ask me!

Look on their main page.. Go into it the P870DM config and see below, GPU options are updated there..

    I believe it is a DM2 as max options are 1 1080 or 2 1070 SLI..

I forgot to change that Asus strix to zotac amp. Actually this time zotac gives 5 years warranty :D.
Yeah, we are on the same boat.
All i care is good IPS 4K UHD monitor that is powered by 2x GTX 1070 in the cheapest manner. .
But if P870DM-2/3 with 2x gtx 1070 is 2600$, i might actually consider. If more than 3500$, i might have to sell my AW15 first. :(.
Can you give me link for the RJTech?

That 2600$ price tag is with one 1070, it is 3200$ + if you add dual 1070, Cpu, ram, ssd and hdd .

So basically inline with 980M sli prices

We have a massive import duty on electronics in my country. A 1080 AIB version costs US$1000. The 1070 AIB costs US$650.

To put it in perspective for laptops, an MSI GT72 2QE 4th Gen i7, 8 GB, 1 TB HDD, Windows 8.1, 8 GB Graphics Notebook GTX 980M costs just less than US$ 3000.

    That price is madness
RJtech is notorious for being over expensive for their barebones
Let's wait the official clevo full system from @GenTechPC @XoticPC etc
If it is true MSI GT72VR with Gtx 1070 is gonna be $1999 USD, clevo counterpart should and must be cheaper. I am guessing at 1600-1700$ with core i6-6600K and basic configuration. I am really hoping gtx 1070 SLI at 2500-2600$

Well, it's only rumor and speculation at this point, but what I'm hearing suggests that Pascal will not have a second iteration (or generation) for 2017. Instead, they will basically move their plans for Pascal to Volta and release an early version of Volta running on 16nm process with HBM2 for 2017. And finally, when 2018 comes around, they may be producing 10nm Volta.

What does this mean? Anything purchased this year (2016) that is Pascal-based AND claims to be "upgradeable," may in fact be non-upgradeable, simply because there won't be anything to upgrade it with. Does that mean you should avoid Pascal? Not at all. This is rumor. You should purchase what you can afford and avoid stretching your budget with credit accounts. ;)

If you had planned to purchase BGA trash, this information is irrelevant.

P.S. For the record, I don't believe this. Not entirely.

Interesting, so finally we've got the first Pascal Clevo prices in Europe:

Clevo P751DM2-G with GTX 1060 starting from 1,581 EUR
Clevo P751DM2-G with GTX 1070 starting from 1,952 EUR

Though these are really extremely bare-bone configs, more realistic ones add about 300 EUR, so we are looking at ~1,900 / 2,300 EUR.

Well, not yet official "official" (Nvidia site still shows no sign of them), but somebody already started to leak official presentation slides :)

This is the stuff media gets before the launch, but are supposed to sit tight on this before the embargo expires.

Somebody though always jumps the gun a bit earlier. There should be more coming ...

And again on Mifcom, fully configured with a 6700K, 16gb ram, 256gb SSD, 1tb HDD, we are looking at above 2500 euro's, and that is for a 15", you can easily count another 50 euro's for the 17" version, so a decently configured Clevo with 1070 will cost between 2500-2600 euro for both 15" and 17" respectively, my guess is we'll be looking at 3000 to 3100 or a little more for a similarly spec'ed machine with 1080, most likely a couple hundred more with the more expensive European resellers like Mysn .
