I don't understand why mifcom lists the P651RS with the new 1070 but on the official clevo website there is no trace of it
-
-
They may have an error in the listing or something. We won't know for certain until tomorrow* when the NDA is officially lifted for all.
*It ends at midnight tonight.Ionising_Radiation likes this. -
P870DM3 with 1080 SLI and nothing else is about 4500 €. Nope, not for me! Rather getting 980m SLI for the Panther and be done with it!

That's very expensive. I wouldn't risk it for that much, but that's just me. Not with the upgradeability factor hanging by a noose.

Jepp, agreeing to 100%! That's just ridicilous and in MSI-Spheres. If you wanna have it full specced, you can easily put a Grand on Top!
-
Lol, even if it was 1k less it would still be INCREDIBLY overpriced. Can't wait for the real prices to launch, hopefully tomorrow.
-
Thanks to non standard MXM, the R&D cost have to be spread into a fewer amount of units....
The consumer always foot the bill. -
This is also why I believe Pascal is a single-year product. It wasn't even meant to exist but does because HBM wasn't ready. Now it is, and guess what? Everything is priced higher to account for the limited shelf-life, and they're moving on. Truly, I hope I am wrong, very much so. But damn, it sure seems that way.
We'll know more soon enough. There is still time for the Ti series to come.Last edited: Aug 15, 2016 -
Is the NDA been lifted?
Also got this:
This is the price for HASEE, a Chinese Clevo barebones brand. The price is in RMB, they announce it on Beijing time 08/16 14:00
MSI and Gigabyte in China will also announce their new stuff. -
There are also dealers in China announce pricing for GL502VM(6700HQ+1060) about 13k RMB, and G752VS(6820HK+1070)with FHD screen for 23K RMB and with 4K screen for 25K RMB.
Note: In China, there will be a 17% VAT on electronic products and ASUS pricing in China is somehow overvalue for a huge margin
Boring boring Chelsea -
I'm sure there are deals to be had for less than that. The reason I am not already rocking 180W 980 SLI is the price is absolutely ASININE. At over $1200 per MXM... well, they can shove that up their rectum. Only a fool would pay that for somethings that will be obsolete in 6 months. I could buy two 980M for roughly the price of a single 980. That's just stupid. Time to go back to desktops. BGA suckbooks are not an option and never will be.Papusan, Ashtrix, Robbo99999 and 5 others like this.

Very very sad that the market for Enthusiast Notebooks are shifting to be a product with premium price for fanboys who just want to wiggle their E-Pen**** and have no clue how to use such Powah!!!

Yeah, 1800$ for 2x gtx 1070 with 4K ips monitor. Who doesn't want.
Also, change the website to forumdesktopreview.com
Now we can only hope for clevo US major. Because MSI, Asus n clevo europe are overpriced up to the moonsteberg, jaybee83, Mr. Fox and 1 other person like this. -
Normally, I'd be excited. It's quite ironic.
The BGA tour has begun! -
LOL at 1200usd, you can buy a Titan XP(Which I feel nvidia cheaped out on the PCB anyways imo)..... MXM pricing is absolutely insane......Ashtrix, steberg, jaybee83 and 1 other person like this.

Wtf are you doing!?!? It's a barebones! Buy the cpu, ram, and storage aftermarket! For a single 1080, if you have storage, it's about $2,600. Add $200 ram (more than enough for awesome speeds and sizes) and $450 for a 4.8GHZ silicon lottery chip (+$50 for delid unless you want to do it). Just saying, be smart purchasers!

Well, I should have screen shots late this evening that I can post. In the meanwhile, here are a couple of the BIOS boot logos that would also make nice desktop wallpaper.

I'm wondering if very high is going to be the new normal, at least long enough for the big guys (MSI and Clevo) that are not peddling BGA GPU filth (unfortunately, MSI still sells stuff with crappy CPUs) see how much they can get away with raping their customers and still have enough people that are willing to lube up for it.Last edited: Aug 15, 2016

Prices came down, actually! The g-variant of the 980m was over $700. The 1070 looks to be $650. The cost of each 980 was $1200-1300, now it is $1050. So, 1070 sli is priced at the 980m sli at $1300... $2100 for 1080sli, which means build a desktop as you could just about builds a desktop for that, minus amazing custom liquid loop...

On another note, today was supposed to be THE DAY that the NDA was lifted on Pascal to start pricing new Gaming Laptops.
Yet, still nothing.
The only Laptop Reseller that I have seen that is pricing them out (the 1070m that is), is Mtechlaptops, and their 1070m-based systems are running for OVER $2800.
Way too expensive for me.
XoticPC and AVA aren't talking about it, and they don't allude to it on their websites, either.
Very odd. -
For the hundredth time, the NDA is released at midnight.

Whomever setup the countdown can't do math! Lol! It says about 13 hours left, but that is 2 hours past the tune for release stated!lmfao...

Seems like the decision making will be the moment clevo/MSI launch their official prices for their gtx 1070 SLI and 1080 SLI and see how the prices compared to desktop counterparts. Who knows maybe desktop counterparts will drop down in price
. I really wish i could buy a laptop with SLI, But alas, life is life...
It must go on (move to volta laptop)
8.30PM 15 august 2016 here -
Prices should be fairly reasonable here in the States. I don't see them selling many laptops if everything is marked up 20% or more from last year.
However, if prices do all of a sudden rise and stay up there, I'll assume Pascal is short-lived and on its way out. They're just stealing from you at that point. -

Haha, "BGA suckbooks", I've not heard that one before, it did make me laugh though, it's got a certain ring to it!

Hi, ignorant question incoming. From lurking this threat (first post and have been reading from 300s), I gather BGAbooks are bad. But why? How does it affect me?
-
This forum is comprised of mostly enthusiasts. I'd say the majority of people in the market don't care, even though they should.
BGA just refers to soldered components (non-upgradeable). Basically, we refer to them as "trash" because they're disposable gaming systems, like cell phones.TomJGX, steberg, Ionising_Radiation and 2 others like this. -
So, if I wasn't planning on upgrading my laptop, and instead will buy a new one when volta comes, I'm good? Does BGA cause any other problems, like heat or anything?
-
I'd just watch product reviews before making a purchase. It varies.
-
the problem is that even if you go to non bga systems you cant be certain about upgrading your machine.
-
Can i get a link to purchase it plz
-
Speaking of upgradability: since nvidia is now putting desktop cards into laptops, I wonder if that will kill the nascent commercial eGPU market.
(True you still can't upgrade a bga desktop GPU in a laptop, so eGPUs still offer an upgrade path for BGA owners, but I wonder if consumers' desire for upgradability will be enough to sustain interest in eGPUs now that most of the power of desktop GPUs is being shoved directly into laptops.)Last edited: Aug 15, 2016bsch3r likes this. -

It's odd that Mtechlaptops has been displaying on their website of the 1070m and having customers configure them to order, and has been doing so since last week, when others aren't/can't.
Either they are in violation of the NDA and don't care, or there is something else going on.....

Yes, but will a few crazy expensive GPUs, and the idea of upgrading to Volta later, be enough to convince laptop owners to buy commercial eGPUs now?

Wait I just saw the GT73, is this a changed model from GT72?
