Killing Floor 2 and Black Ops 2 took months to rid themselves of texture flickering and shadow flickering respectively. And the fixes always came in rather questionable drivers from nVidia.
Dying Light took a few months before optimizations happened (I got my minimum performance tripled and my max doubled) for SLI to work well... without driver updates, even.
While you can possibly force it, Unreal Engine 4 games don't use SLI. Street Fighter 5 doesn't. It took me a lot of digging to try and find a profile for ARK: Survival Evolved, and even then it was by chance when I asked Octiceps that I got any real lead; everything online didn't work. Unreal Tournament 4 won't support it officially, and negative scaling can occur using its AA or playing above 1080p without PCI/e 3.0 x16 interfaces for both GPUs (that means a 5930K MINIMUM for your CPU; not happening in laptops). MGSV had a scaling limit to only 70% on average for quite some time (I don't even know if it's fixed yet). DS3 I've heard claimed to have great SLI scaling, but it's only really capped out at about 60% util on each card... a very small boost all things considered. The Division had SLI flickering and un-rendering most of the world for a lot of people for quite some time after launch. Assassin's Creed Syndicate had NEGATIVE scaling for SLI even using up both cards. People tested with Titan X cards near launch. No idea if it's even better.
Honestly? Most big launches (especially if not a FPS) either have no SLI support or bad SLI support, and takes a long time before it works. Midranged GPUs no longer need apply. Single strongest card is THE best option. The only struggle I could see is the same issue I was having before, where I was trying to figure out what's better: A single stronger card (that cannot SLI) or two weaker cards that can SLI, like the 980M SLI vs 980 in the P870DM. Any other scenario, I'd say put the cooling required for SLI into putting a single 1080M rather than grabbing two 1060Ms, etc.

I really don't see how this amounts to a hill of beans. I literally don't give a rat's bobo what they support because their ongoing support is not necessary. As long as it is possible to secure and activate Windows 7, and to a lesser degree of value Windows 8.X, Windows 10 will continue be the crappiest option available. Honestly, I think I would almost prefer to use XP and Vista, both of which were much better products than Windows 10, and 10 is a fair bit worse than 8.X was. The real problem is the OEMs being led around like emasculated puppets with gold rings in their family jewels by the Redmond Mafia and their filthy UEFI, firmware and driver signature TechNazi bullcrap. What we need is a good old-fashion mutiny, where the OEMs and end users gang up on Micro$loth, corner them and kick them in the proverbial corporate skulls until their brains run out of their ear holes. The tail needs to stop wagging the dog. It's past time for them to fall in line and stop acting like God's gift to mankind. Along with Intel's BGA garbage agenda, these two dic traitorships have become the deadliest forms of cancer in the industry.deadsmiley, TomJGX, Ashtrix and 6 others like this.

Nobody will ever convince me that any OS ever is worse than Vista. Except maybe ME. I would rather use Windows 3.1 than Vista. 10 got off to a really bad start but I have zero issues with it now. I always had issues with 8.1, especially when it came to random processes popping up and dragging performance down. I'm even on the slow ring for Insider builds on my desktop and they've been nice and smooth. I don't worry about the start menu or any of that mess because quite frankly it's faster to just type what I want to launch (I got used to doing this in Mint Cinnamon edition and it just makes life so much easier) or put my shortcuts on the desktop. The telemetry is annoying but I've been giving all that info to various companies for years so I don't really care anymore. I use android, I use Facebook, I have an iPad, I have all the consoles, I use third party apps, I play free to play games... It is what it is. My Windows 10 performance overshadowed my 8.1 performance awhile ago and the drivers have been much more stable under 10 than 8.1 on my desktop. The laptop hasn't been stable on anything for awhile, hopefully that will be remedied with this final RMA.

Eventually we will all have to move to win 10 or whatever iteration will come out by the time Windows 7 is dead/unsecure. However, I know I am holding out with Win 7 until DX12 becomes an actual thing.

You would have to upgrade the machine in order to get the digital entitlement (using it in a VM wouldn't work because it's made based on your hardware signature) and then roll back to Windows 7 if you want to reserve it. From that point you would just need to download the ISO from Microsoft and either upgrade or do a clean install on the same system, skip entering the key, and it will restore the digital entitlement when it boots up and hits Microsoft servers for activation. I actually just nuked my 8.1->10 upgrade on my desktop the other day because all of those privacy tools broke a bunch of settings irreparably and the clean install worked just fine since the machine already had its entitlement created. The problem is that Microsoft hasn't exactly been clear about what parts of the machine make the digital entitlement so if you've changed any major hardware, you could lose it.
As for Pascal, I have decided my 780 Ti will be just fine for now. I'm waiting for AMD to make their move.Kade Storm, deadsmiley and Mr. Fox like this. -

Late adoption is the best policy in today's tech world. That's the best way to avoid regrets and empty pockets. Wait, watch... never point and laugh... then, if it's good, go for the kill. In other words, make an informed decision once the feces has been fully dispersed after hitting the fan rather than an emotional one based on marketing hype and lies.
But, you have to admit, "Founder's Edition" sounds much better than "Laminitis Edition" from a marketing perspective.

You know...
I literally had to re-do parts of my kernel... Major parts of OS needed reconstruction and help... but in the end, I managed to make Windows 10 work... It is pure gold, much much better, faster, more stable than windows 8.1 was for my configuration... I am sure that components are not even releasing drivers for older windows versions, to make windows sell more, but man, I am completely okay with windows 10. They are not perfect, but God, I really had problems with 8.X. 7 was a good champ, but does not work for everything I need either...
I wish this would be as free as it is with Linux, but then again, no commercial support for Linux, equals it to zero for many usages.
I wonder why there are no Mac users around. I wonder what Mac can do with a GTX 1080. Maybe melt it and make a coffee from it.

Founder comes from Middle English foundren, meaning 'to send to the bottom' or 'collapse'. When something 'founders', it usually hits the bottom in one sense or another:
- of a ship, boat, etc., to fill with water & sink; to fall or sink down, as buildings, ground, etc.
- to become wrecked | rekt; to fail utterly
- to stumble, break down, or go lame, as a horse
- to become ill from overeating
- to come to grief

Or, until their cancer drivers hinder the 'Founder' performance to help make 1180 look better than it really is. Their cancer drivers hurt Fermi customers when Kepler was released, then kicked Kepler customers in the privates when Maxwell came out, with micro-kills in between to make the newest flagship within each family look better. Leopards don't change their spots and skunks don't change their stripes. Unless they have repented for their wickedness and turned a new leaf, we should expect Maxwell owners everywhere to be artificially shafted with cancer drivers.

Could cause problems for some cards though. It overclocked my 780 Ti from 1006 with 1072MHz boost up to 1006 to 1150MHz boost at stock voltage. I've tested it for over 24 hours and its totally stable. Haven't been able to test the laptop though, Sager has it.Mr. Fox likes this.

Shame that I usually SLI and need at least one card (bottom) to be a blower card. Another reason to wait for the 1080ti to see if I can avoid feeling the need to have an SLI option. -

A couple of question guys:
- I have sen some rumors that 1080Ti will not be GP100 chip instead it will be GP102. What are the implications/reasons if this is true.
- Why are be behaving like 1080 throttling is some thing new. As far as I know, it has always been a problem with reference cards and can be fixed most of the time by one of the below methods:
- Set higher thermal throttling limit
- Set higher power throttling limit
- Run fan at higher speed (custom fan profile).
I mean is 1080 any different? -
ROG Strix pricing is also below FE at 640 USD for Strix OC.

Wow, this is an amazing post. Awesome. Bravo! Obviously, I agree with it. Windows 10 sucks, and the reason it does has almost nothing to do with the look and feel. It's the evil intent and lack of freedom imposed by this filthy new piece of Naziware vomited up by the insane clown posse from Redmond. I'm using a severely hacked version of it, but it's really disgusting that I have to spend hours modding, hacking and emasculating their filth to make it a usable product that I am ultimately still disappointed with.transphasic, Woodking, TBoneSan and 4 others like this.

Oh, I would definitely take it as a compliment regardless of the intent. What an honor to be compared with someone that dares to speak the truth in a media realm that is dominated by lies, deception and subliminal brainwashing techniques. How else could an abortion like Windows 10 ever be viewed as popular or good?
