their stated numbers dont pan out. 1080M is supposed to be 50% faster than the 980M and 30% faster than the 980. so which is it now? the 980 is 35% faster than the 980m, thats a fact. so here are the two scenarios:

    1) 50% faster than 980M
    150% of 980M
    150 / 135 = 111% of 980

    2) 30% faster than 980
    130% of 980
    135 * 1.3 = 176% of 980M

so its either 50% faster than 980M and 11% faster than 980 or its 30% faster than the 980 and a whopping 76% faster than the 980M. but it cant be both

considering the 1080M will have the same number of cores as the 980 with 36% higher clocks, the latter actually seems a bit more probable...

It'll be neither. We won't see systems actually for sale with Pascal until September.

This seems to be just a ballbaprk figure. I would read it as "it is much faster then 980M and slightly faster than GTX 980". I predict a firestrike graphics score of around 17000.

My max 970m oc is 8600 in FS, so by your guess it would be twice as fast at stock ?

    LOL 2.8GHZ

    That is amazing.

I won't be buying liquid oxygen to touch the full 5GHz it can reach on it, but I am sure there are people who will be having the time of their life benchmarking a 1080 to 5GHz with military grade mods and with liquid oxygen being purred on the GPU for the entire bechmark time :D

    Temperature showing -102 Celsius.

    Yeah, that explains it.

I'm curious on their benchmark scores though.

Anyone in here plans to buy a canister of liquid O2 or another compound to play games on a 1080 OC'd to that level ? :D

the screen shot shows Kingpin cooling. so that's Mr. Vince Lucido trying to keep his world record title. All LN2 on custom made cooling brackets, nothing that is going to run long enough to game on lol. He also took 980s to 1800+mhz when they first came out

    orly...

my point being: even for LN2 those clocks seemed insane, so the extra -74C of liquid helium could help @-270C :D

btw, liquid oxygen would be a rather flammable coolant :D

It had a "Util" throttle flag all the time; if 2835 is the maximum it hit, then it was clocked higher. You don't get a "util" throttle flag in GPU-Z running at max speed. Even in the spike in GPU-Z's sensor tab, it had "util" already. That can't have been Kboost locked.

I've been saying that Pascal was coming out in 4Q for months. Technically Clevo should have them shipping in September but Sager and some other resellers generally take another month give or take so I said October.

Wouldn't such low temperatures at some point screw up the semi-conductive properties of the silicon chips of the GPU and associated hardware?

Below a certain temperature semiconductors begin to conduct electricity fully and that's when things might go pop...

Honestly, I never liked the idea of anything over standard "2-way" SLI, so it doesn't bother me. I see no point in 3-way or 4-way. It's a complete waste of money for gaming.

Even if you're wealthy, it's still wasteful spending because of lost performance per-GPU for gaming.

    I wonder about this too...

Well, I am sure I won't be conducting GPU usage at this temps. With a little luck, I might steer off under 80C, but I doubt my actual usage will ever be under 60C.

I agree. For gaming it often scales negatively past 2 cards or has horrendous framepacing issues.
Sadly for the benchmarkers their fun has been spoilt to a large degree as they still enjoyed using the ingame benchmarks of some games. For 3+ sli users that past time has effectively ended with Pascal.

while i completely understand where you guys are coming from, i dont agree with these views. unfortunately, this is exactly the kind of thinking that boosted the BGA based turdbooks / clock-block / etc. in the first place:

"i never upgraded any of my laptops (because i wouldnt know how, anyways!), so it doesnt bother me that all laptops are going BGA"

"i was never interested in big and heavy laptops with meager battery life (because laptops are SUPPOSED to be SUPER THIN, light and with insane battery life, its not about performance, anyways!), so it doesnt bother me that the industry is slowly but surely letting heavy high-performance laptops die, replacing them with thin and light BGA based machines"

"i never overclocked any of my laptops (because i think overclocking in laptops is too dangerous, anyways!!!), so it doesnt bother me that Nvidia blocked overclocking in mobile gpus"

and now: "i never even considered doing more than 2-way SLI (because its way too expensive and scaling sucks, anyways!), so it doesnt bother me that Nvidia doesnt allow 3/4-way SLI anymore"

see, where im going with this? its not about, whether or not each of us is using a specific kind of tech, its rather about being able to choose! its all about choice in the end, and soon we wont have any anymore, because Nvidia / Intel / Microsoft / etc will have forced us to do their bidding...
