Out of curiosity, to compare, 1080 laptop is barely above 980, and way under 980ti. While 1080 desktop is considerably above 980ti. (I fail to read all the tests, everyone is using another test and I have a hard time finding the exact corespondent to compare)

On this hypothesis, it's more profitable to either get 980 desktop, 980ti, or 1080 desktop than 1080 mobile, no?

70% improvement in Firestrike with a probable temp target way too low isn´t that bad.

980 Ti scores 17k in Firestrike too, doesn´t it?

I'm having a hard time keeping a tab on all results, as sometimes the benchmarks used were not exactly the same. Up to now, I'm still a beginner.

@johnksss I meant using NI as a means to an end. That is to see the effect that the video clock has on benches when mem and gpu clocks remain the same. All that can be done in NI and AB can be done programmatically and more.

Unfortunately I'm going to be away from my 1080 for one or two months.

An interesting comparison of the last 6 generations of Nvidia Flagship GPU's, on modern games (8 + 1 older DX10 title) at 1440p (and 1080p in the written article linked below).

Here is the summary average of 9 games results, and the % improvement from generation to generation:

9 game average gains over 6 generations of Nvidia flagship GPUs.jpg

    The comparisons start at 03:00:

    6-Gen GeForce GTX x80 Comparison: GTX 480, 580, 680, 780, 980 & 1080

    More details, and 1080p results:

My ZM does actually. It started around 9.6-9.8K but I´ve hit 10k+ several times on stock, I guess it´s driver related.
I can check what I get with my current 359.00 when I get home.

@johnksss NVIDIA Inspector - Version 1.9.7.6, admin command line nvidiaInspector.exe -forcepstate:0,0 (gpu, pstate). AB can be used to set the same gpu and mem clock with the higher video clock once the forced pstate has been reset.

Okay, don't what to suggest then. I don't have access to my screenshots but with vid clock at <700MHz and gpu clock at 2050MHz FS graphics dropped from 24k to 22k so losing about 10% it seems. Also I suspect Furmark score drops about 10% too.

There is no point to more than 60 fps in 4k, as no one in this moment can see more than 60 fps at 4K. Reason LOL : No monitors with higher refresh rate than 60Hz for 4K displays, LOL.

But for real, can anything reach 60fps min on ultra on 4K ?

    Suggest?
I was just testing it for you. Already knew it wasn't going to work.
Top reason being....You are forcing more power than card will allow, thus forcing the card to run slower.(less optimal for sake of a better way of putting it)
Your Video clock says 700 mhz. Mine says 1631 mhz. while my core is 1607 mhz. This changes as i up the core offset.

And i also read where they said that changing the p2 state was suppose to change the boost rate. That didn't seem to work either or maybe I was doing it wrong. Even with upping the voltage, the results were still the same. Could not match my prior scores, but will mess with it more later tonight.....Out of curiosity

Well that score is equal to 2 single 970m. And I only had one of them
On a side note. The 1070m HAS to pass the 980 desktop even if just a little bit. I can't imagine the gap between 1080m and 1070m is more than 3000 points. But I guess we won't know about that till 1060 surfaces

I really like the part where they show two GTX 980s saying one is a 980M and one is a 980. The website they stole it from (notebookcheck) even SAYS it's two 980s.

And I do appreciate it. What I meant was your system is behaving differently to mine. Whether that's because of VBIOS or because I'm using my own software to overclock I don't know. I don't want to say too much at this time until things are worked out but that furmark bench run was using ~340W measured from the 12V rail and with fan at 100% hit 85C. It wasn't a hard mod.

appears to be 10-15% slower than a 980ti on benchmark, but probably driver not ready and the vbios limitation is even more present compared to maxwell

It's likely slower because of the vBIOS. If it doesn't hold clocks at stock then obviously it'll never get anywhere.
