Haha, I bet a HL2 Episode 3 would have had enough people playing to open early release within just a few hours of the announcement.

Yeah early release? 13 hours max for all this work and effort? Totally pointless.
However I just got the last of my potato's I can finally rest now...
-
-
Valve is not THAT mean, HT, they are certainly going to reward those people that invested time into those potatoes...
-

Im in the same situation as davepermen. If they keep cutting hours off it is only going to make the game come out as I go to work rather than when I get home :/
My mic is not even in process yet for RMA so I hope that goes over well I need it for the Portal 2 Co-op recordings :/ -
So VALVe wanted to destroy THEIR OWN fan/playerbase...?
That is VERY mean... -

My attention span can never last to get those potatoes

hmm interesting. so it may very well come out just as I got to work lol.
I wonder if Glados knows how to divide by zero -
Haha, Amnesia is the least complete... HAHA!!!
Geez, it's not even THAT scary... -

Nine of the Eleven infected steam users are performing pre-release lethality testing (getting to play it early).
so yeah. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Lucky guys, wonder how you get picked or know your picked.
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
I think the infected people are the ones who did a lot of the arg work and well, they got infected (picked) and flown out to valve or something to play portal 2.
-
Well the abducted ones did a lot of work for the ARG. So I guess they deserved to play the game earlier.
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Cant argue that point, I spent more than enough time just doing the challenges, let alone trying to figure them out.
They probably get incinerated after the testing anyways, as anybody that did too good in this was probably a hacker and a security threat to Glados. -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
of course.
-
So if we find 9 bodies in game, we know who they are

Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Assuming that Killing Floor and/or Super Meat Boy fails to be completed by the end of the Potato OC, the game should be out on Steam at around 11:10 PM PST. That means people on Steam Pre-Loaded will get the game running even before GameStop Midnight Release to people in the West Coast!
-
So much for us on the East Coast!
There's a little hope. I was trying to get my kids to bed early so I could go to bed too and then get up at 3am or something to play for a few hours. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
I'm at work =((
But that wont stop me from playing)
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
...man. if only they would finish super meat boy and killing floor.
it'd come out at midnight most likely -
Based on everything so far, SMB and KF together should knock off about 3 hours, so at current rate, we're looking at approx midnight release.
-
Looks like it will be 4PM here when it's released...
...and I have an a doctor appointment at 4PM. -
I wasn't originally planning on spending the money for Portal 2, but a very generous friend of mine was kind enough to gift it to me
So, what's with the potatoes? I have one. -

google: ARG Wiki
You will find out what you need to know about the potato -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
-
At this point, potatoes don't mean much. The were used to overclock GLaDOS to help release the game earlier. Plus if you got all 36 (basically specific objetives in each of the Potato Sack games) you get some special prize. Vicious got all 36. So we'll have to see what it ends up being.

game's gonna launch very soon (probably half an hour at the most)
edit: *watches killing floor knock off 5 minutes*
Vaaaaallllvvveeeee!!!!!
(so yeah, 12:40 am EST) -
LLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLL
Killing Floor only took off TWO MINUTES!!!
This thing is RIGGED! -

Friends of the ARG people are getting in.
also Valve is trolling everyone now. It really is rigged. -
-
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Less than one hour. Potato power or Newell intervention?
-
redrazor11 Formerly waterwizard11
at valves current tactics, I'm sure it won't be cut and dry at the timer. I bet we'll see some kind of "blue screen" or "freeze at 6 seconds" or "hour long login-sequence"
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
I can see defense grid finishing like 5 minutes before the hour left and it adds like 5 minutes to the timer
The rage that would be the steam forums would be amazing.
Lets just hope that the server handles the load to let everybody play, even though there is only one small download needed to unlock the game since its pre-loaded, if everybody tries to get it at once it could be a problem.
Luckily other than that, its not server dependent so it should play just fine and not be effected by user load. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Hmm "friends of dinosaur" are getting to unlock now.
I wonder who that is, and why he is not my friend
Seems to be people with all 36 potatos
Portal 2 has been released!
