Increase penetration damage meaning decrease or neutralize penetration damage reduction?

Bascially, say an assualt rifle only does 50% damage while shooting through an object, FMJ would make it do maybe 80% damage or full damage, I am not too sure how it works. It would not affect normal damage, or damage while not shooting through something.
-
Accuracy for the FAMAS is FAR MORE FORGIVING than the m16, burst an m16 you see sparks fly in a circle, burst a famas you only see 1 spark, its that accurate
FMJ i thought increased damage which didnt but so much sweeter through hitting corners and walls and cars!! i was running one time and an enemy popped up i hit cntrl right away and a car was in the way, hahaha needless i fired into the car where he was and i killed him haha without FMJ it wont work.
FAMAS damage = m16 damage, the bars LIE!!
and Quads Clan is an awesome bunch -

Too bad most of the assault guns in MW2 are lasers, I just wish they had a bit more realistic recoil like the pistols or sub machine guns.
-
To be honest I find the recoil harder on rifles(real life). It rocks your whole frame rather than just your wrist like a handgun which I aim better
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Well obviously, I just meant that the pistols and sub machine guns have more realistic recoil compared to their real life counterparts than the assault rifles do. -
I know what you were saying. It's just like the game got it backwards lol
-
its just a game, all weapons have recoil just not too realistic, if u want realistic go deer hunter haha
-
According to the stats bars on the guns adding FMJ does add damage, though very little.
-
Except you have to consider that the stat bars are wrong about pretty much everything.

The FAMAS is amazing. I got a 5:1KDR on Airport. Love that map.

Having played MW2 to death on the xbox, I agree completely - perhaps the only thing the m16 has over the famas is the extra 5 bullets in each mag. Also looks cooler
I'm considering getting this for my new notebook, but I'm worried about all the issues I've heard for the PC version, particularly the lack of dedicated servers, lag and problems with lobbies. And without sounding too much like a broken record, how important is a high frame rate in MW2? I used to play counter-strike source a lot and I was always at a disadvantage for averaging 50fps. That was on my old notebook though so what should I expect from a nvidia gt230m at 1366x768? Thanks.
As for tips, tricks and stuff....I prefer the tactical knife over the care package marker for a knifing class because A) instant stab means you can repeat stab much more quickly than with the standard melee attack B) if you've got marathon, lightweight and a sub-machine gun, then you're running pretty fast anyway. -
I havent had any issues so far when playing MW2 on pc, however theres occasional lag every now and then during firefights or nukes.
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
Don't worry about nukes, it's not like you need to do anything when there is one

Ever shot the ACR straight at a wall? All the bullets land right on top of each other.
@AmazingGracePlayer: I find that on Wasteland my favorite thing to do is to go sniper with the M21EBR along with Marathon + Cold Blooded + Ninja and just try to survive the whole round without dyeing while picking off any stray enemy targets! I find I can go 21-0 and get to call in a couple of choppers and predator missiles. Mind you, this is mostly sedentary sniping on the edges of a map, moving slightly after every kill and being mindful of the revenge seekers out to get some payback.
-

Do you use thermal or heartbeat sensor? And do you use tactical insertion or claymore? I tried sniping on that map, but it's really hard to see without thermal, and half of the people there also use Cold Blooded, so thermal's kind of counter productive if they have the perk on.

bigger gun doesn't amount to more recoil. if u've ever fired a .40 cal handgun, and then fired a .223 AR-15 back to back. u would know that alot of rifles with smaller rounds have very low recoil. that's why i love to fire a few "relaxation mags" when i use my AR. it's so smooth and easy to shoot, that it's relaxing.
-
Are there any threads to NBR'ers who play MW2 online?
-
Does anyone play HC modes? Thats pretty much all I played in MW(1).
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
All I said was that some guns in MW2 have no recoil. In particular, the ACR. If you tried shooting the ACR in real-life on full auto, there would be some recoil and I'm not considering if you used low power rounds, because those would never be used in combat. -

I'm agp423 on Steam, add me!
I know that I'll never go back to regular once I start playing hardcore, so I'm going to start after I learn all the maps and know them inside out.
Anyone know how to choose what map you want to join? I just want to play Rust 24/7. -
i would love to be able to get my hands on an ACR, so i could add it to my collection. unfortunately, they aren't very common on the market yet. i have seen alot of videos and testing videos and lemme tell u, it really does spray a whole clip like in MW2. i've seen it emptyin mags while they were spinnin the gun around 360 degrees. i've seen it empty clips right out of ocean salt water, sand, dirt, etc. they even emptied a few .223 NATO mags with 1 hand.
by smaller rounds, i meant like regular .223 nato or .306 AK rounds. i only called them "smaller rounds" cuz rifles can come in a big variety of calibers. just think about MW2, and the .50 cal berreta.
fyi: they call them .223 nato rounds cuz they are the standard round that all united armed forces use. if u notice taliban, terrorists, guerillas, etc all use .306 (AK) and bigger calibers. -
For clarification, .203 and .306 are equivalent to 5.56mm and 7.62mm, right?
You'll have to do a private match for that; all the matchmaking playlists are on map rotations. -

Can any sniper rifle get one shot kill when hitting enemy in the chest on regular without stopping power?
-
I believe so. The only exception might be the M21 EBR
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
So sniper rifle doesn't need stopping power?
-
Oh I assumed you meant with stopping power. Well without it I always use WA2000 or M21
-
If I recall, the Barrett .50 and Intervention can kill without Stopping Power on the stomach, chest and head. The WA2000 and M21 EBR can do the same, but only on the chest and head. The stomach is not a guaranteed kill shot.
Check this out (sorry, it's a somewhat large image):

Hmmm, guess I can take that Stopping Power Pro off of my WA2000 build now and swap it with something else. Why do so many people choose to use Intervention over Barrett?
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
I use the M21EBR and go for headshots but if I miss the headshot two shots anywhere else kills without Stopping Power. I use Marathon Pro + Cold Blooded Pro + Ninja Pro on my sniper kit. I can ascertain a very good K/D ratio with this setup on some maps. Sometimes I manage to stay alive the whole round.
-
I found using scavenger or one man army works better than marathon simply because the M21 runs out of ammo quickly
-
sniper + cold blooded + ninja = yawn campers.
-
I prefer to run around with M21 acog. You die a lot but it's fun
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
WA2000 + Heartbeat, Scavenger Pro, Cold Blooded Pro, Commando Pro is my set up. I find Ninja to be useless on snipers. And Stopping Power useless as well if head/chest shot is insta-kill with the WA2000.
-
Barrett w/FMJ
sleight of hand pro
stopping power pro
ninja pro
I can get a 1 shot kill anywhere other than the lower legs. -
I use the intervention over the .50 cal because the recoil is more manageable. I can stay on target if I miss. With the .50 the recoil throws me off too much, plus by time the recoil is over it's just about the time it takes to the intervention
-
I also prefer the Intervention over the Barrett .50 because the Barrett's semi-auto nature somewhat encourages spamming, which the gun really isn't meant to do. By the time you re-steady the Barrett's scope after a shot, it's really no quicker than the Intervention, so I just use the Intervention because I know I won't accidentally fire again prematurely.

Is there a way to erase all my kill/death/exp without prestige? I know I'll want to work my way from level 1 to 70 again, but I don't want the prestige sign. Better to have people think of me as a noob who's good than a pro who's horrible
-
hey, i was just wonderin how accurate and reliable this chart is?
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
I can only speak for what I know - WA2000 chest shot does not kill the enemy in one bullet.
-
yea some of that chart doesn't really look right. i also agree with yur WA2000 statement cuz that's the only sniper rifle i use.

Time to say goodbye to Stopping Power and hello to Hardcore
-
Ive been playing this since release and am liking this current killstreak setup:
predator/harrier/pavelow
the pavelow isn't as good as the chopper gunner but it allows me to continue moving around and fighting -
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
If you die, does the Pavelow leave or does it fly to where you spawn and keep on shooting until X minutes pass?
-
The Pave Low doesn't really follow you at all. It just does its own thing. It will still stick around if you die, until its timer runs out or someone shoots it down.
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
Thanks for the clarification. I only called in the Pavelow once, but it seemed to go where I go (it stayed at where I spawned and Pavelow didn't get any kill
) that's why I thought it follows me.
-
The Pave Low, regular attack helicopter, hovering Harrier, and the motion of the Chopper Gunner are all completely controlled by the AI; they go where they please, regardless of where the player who called them in is located.
-
.223 Remington = 5.56x45mm NATO
.308 Winchester = 7.62x51mm NATO
The rounds on the left are the civilian versions, while the one on the right are military ones. They may have incompatibilities in certain rifles (I believe 5.56 won't bode well in certain .223 rifles). -
I was close ^_^
