I want to highly recommend the game Global Agenda, and this informative review about it: Global Agenda Full Review* - General Discussion - Global Agenda - MMORPG.com Forums

Edit: Alright, maybe Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1 or 2. That had good AI, squad like game play, some customization of weapons and equipment which is RPGish(?) only problem is that there is no gameplay outside of the shooting. Sorry, best I could come up with right now =/ I'll keep thinking!
And Mass effect. Or dawn of War! -
-
OK, I'll give Dawn of War and Mass Effect a try. Thanks!

Friends me back after finishing your recommended games.
I have now played and completed NFS SHIFT, Dirt 2, Test Drive Unlimited, Blur, GTR Evolution and GRID.
Thanx a lot for the recommendations
Want more racing games, some awesome bike race
Also, can u tell some good sports based games, I already have FIFA 10, Ashes 2009 and EA cricket 07. -
NHL 10 is one of the most fun sports games I've played, but make sure you have a controller to play it with. I have it for the 360 and love it.
-
For motorbikes I recommend SBK X! Great motor bike game
P.S have you tryed Fuel? -
Thanx to u too, will try both SBK X and Fuel -
I figured it was since most EA Sports games were, but as I said I have it for the 360 and it didn't cross my mind that it might not be available for the PC.
-
The genre I find the most fun and long lasting are Turn based Strategy games. Just by chance, I found out about this game called Silent Storm which has been given very high ratings and has an expansion called Silent Storm Sentinels. I don't remember this one being mentioned here but anyone into TBS should definitely check it out.
I will be getting this one and although it is from 2003, it is still holding up really well.
Edit: Apparently this game is a clone of Jagged Alliance 2 for the PC so I will be checking this one out as well. -
Put up a new layout for you guys (with a big help from crash).
Let me know what you think.
Hopefully it will get more people to pay attention to this thread. -
It looks great, thanks for your continued work on this thread

On a somewhat related subject. Could anyone recommend an online source that I can buy games and download them other then steam? My credit card isn't working with steam atm, and until then I've been looking for a site.
-
Anyone wanna recommend a shooter that actually utilizes teamwork but has a decent sized community?
I already have BC2 for my ps3 and TF2 for my laptop but any other recommendations would be appreciated. -
not sure if its been mentioned or not but some of the Command and Conquer games are free now.
-
-
no you download them from the CnC site. im still trying to get Tiberian Sun to work though

Can anyone recommend a game that you can play without paying attention to it?
I miss some lectures every week and I like to do something while I listen to the recordings.
I guess either an MMORPG (please only free ones) or most racing games (I don't mind paying for these). -
I hope you don't mind
TrackMania Nations: Forever -
I was thinking of getting BF2 but after playing the demo I noticed quite a lot of spawn raping with jets and the airpower seemed overpowered? Also the hit detection seemed off. Would anyone still recommend this game?
-
YES.
10 char. Spawn camping isn't a huge problem, you got a bit unlucky is my guess =(
I love this game. It is great fun to pick up for a quick game in the evening. -
Anyone can recommend me some racing games with easy controls and relatively good graphics? I love the game play of trackmania, but the graphics looks dated and not very appealing. Also the system requirement better not be very steep, or I would not be able to handle it with decent settings with my 9800M gs. Thanks!!

DiRT is an AWESOME game. I usually hate racing games, but this one is that good haha.

This has been the only series where I can replay the game and for the past week I've been addicted to the stalker games. I've replayed all three stalker games over the last 2 weeks and now I'm sad that the experience is over.
Could someone recommend me a bunch of games that have the same feel as the stalker games, the same open ending feel, and RPG like qualities of the stalker games?
I was thinking about getting Metro 2033 and Fallout 3, but that's only 2 games, I need like 10+ recommendations. -
Metro and Fallout for sure, at a stretch Borderlands, not so dark, at all, but a shooter with RPG elements. All I can think of right now.
-
Play STALKER SOC with mods.

does the game need to have guns? if not you could also try oblivion or morrow wind. the gothic games are real good also in fact the fourth installment is going to be out real soon. ill get back to yah as soon as i can think of something else.
-
Metro 2033, but it lacks the open world aspect, you can see how their time working on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. influenced Metro 2033. Sadly you can also see how the loss of these team members influenced S.T.A.L.K.E.R., the underground levels where just not the same after Shadow of Chernobyl. You can try one of GSC's other games called Codename: Outbreak, you will see how it influenced S.T.A.L.K.E.R. especially the armor, but it too lacks an open world. Personally I hated it. Honestly though S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a rather unique experience might have better luck with the various excellent mods available.
Edit: If you don't require guns Patholgic is very good, translation work however is awkward. XD -

Can you guys recommend PC games from the aforementioned genres? Nothing action oriented like Resident Evil 5 or Dead Space, but more like Phantasmagoria (god, I feel old), Alone in the Dark, and Longest Journey.
-
Definitely get the Penumbra Series.
-
It's not a horror game.. but American McGee's Alice.
-
Hugo III: Jungle of Doom. Seriously. It's really old, but it'll give a good challenge if you can handle the awesomeness of vga graphics.

I reciently purchased Half Life 2 from steam.... By far one of the best and (slightly) scary games, definitely has some "zomgwutwasthat" moments.
Ravenholm "shudder" \()/

Can someone recommend me some good medieval-like RPGs in first person, on the likes of Gothic 3 and Oblivion? It's important that you have lots of stuff to pick up in the wilderness like plants etc. A good plot and quests is also important.
-
What a great forum. You guys really know your stuff and you are pretty respectful to each other.
I've been out of gaming for a long time. I recently purchased a new laptop and have begun looking at some of the games that are out now or that I missed. I would like to give you some of my favorite games and hope that you all could recommend some games.
Some favorite games I've played:
Half-life 1&2
Battlefield 1942 (one of my all time favorite).
Medal of Honor
Elder Scrolls (first one)
Marchiavelli (old turned based strat game)
Shadow President
So far from reading this forum I'm looking at Assassin's Creed 1 and 2, Oblicion (maybe?), and Battlefield: Bad Company. Your thoughts and/or any other suggestions?
Also, forgive my idiocy but could someone tell me briefly what SSD is?
Thanks in advance for your help -
Welcome to the forums.
SSD = Solid State Drive. Basically a hard drive with no moving parts, all solid state like flash memory. -

Sacred 2 - Fallen Angel
Assassin's Creed 2 -
Sorry about that. Any way to move a post?

Mods will take care of that. My recommendations are
- the Mass Effect series + DLC's
- Splinter Cell series
- Assassin's Creed (2nd one is better)
- Fallout 3 GOTY Edition
- Dragon Age Origins + DLC's
And if you want some co op, Left 4 Dead 2 is a great option (the SC series feature co-op starting with Chaos Theory).
