I noticed you didn't have Torchlight in your collection. Great action-rpg, much like Diablo 2. Cheap, too.

It seems you have a lot of the more recent games covered, at least to my limited knowledge. :p What about some of the older RPGs, like Baldur's Gate 2?

Lots of people have said BG2 but it's not on Steam yet and I really wanna consolidate all my games into system.

I looked at Singularity, seems like it's got pretty nice shooter action.

I have a quick question. Should I buy Mass Effect 2 or Battlefield Bad company 2? I like the styles for both games, so I can't decide :(

Thank you guys for the answers! Before I commit to ME2, how fun is BFBC2's single campaign compared to MW2 or MW1?

BFBC2'S multiplayer is pretty good; however, you're going to see a lot of cliche in the games characters and storylines. I enjoyed MW1/2's storyline much more than BC2's.

It's a lot like the MW singleplayer, except there's a bit more humor (iirc the characters poke fun at the MW2 story a few times).

Another bump for ME2. Great game, plus the DLC support has been good so far (new story dlc every 3 months so far, with little appearance pack and weapon packs in between). The dlc's cost money though so not sure how I feel about that...

Gameplay is top-notch though. IMO the singleplayer feels like training for the MP it's ok. MW1 had a good storyline for an fps. There was a lot of BS in the MW2 sotry so I didn't like it as much, but whatevs.

So I tried the demo for ME2 and sadly, I have never been so frustrated by a game. I guess I blame the control.

For instance, few enemies 'spawn' from behind after disabling the shields to kill Warren. To avoid being killed, I press and hold space to sprint behind a cover. At the time, I was near another cover, and somehow the game decided that I simply pressed space bar, causing me to take cover.

But that was useless because I did not get behind the cover that I was supposed to go to; instead I got shot and killed. I wish the game has a dedicated key for sprinting; or is it possible to set it to another key?

Hey, lately I've noticed that when i play games, I really get into the storyline. After I finish it, i'll go play the multiplayer but only play multi for a couple hours.

I need some suggestions for games with a good story and preferably a decently long campaign.

I really want to get a fps, but i hear that CoD:MW2's story is rather short, and i don't feel like paying $60.00 for that. And I don't know much about the other games in the genre...

I really Like RTS games and RPG's as well. any suggestions here would be great.

Some games I've played and enjoyed so you know what to suggest...: SC, SC2 (too short...), Halo 1 2 and 3, Oblivion, KoTOR, KoTOR 2, Warcraft 3.

    thanks everybody

EDIT: Ah! forgot Portal! I LOVE portal

supreme commander 1 and 2, mechwarrior mercs, mech commander 1 and 2.

Fallout 1 and 2 ... FOT 3 isnt bad but I dont like the storyline as much, its more eye candy.

AOE ( all of them )... heck how old of games do you want? I find most of the good storyliners quit a few years ago. MYST was prob one of the best.

There's one story I like most of all (by far), and thats ffx.
I noticed you guys only mentioned pc games, but I can't name a single one where I thought the story actually contributed something to the game (well the stories in the aoe triology are an exception, but maybe thats just because i'm a history buff)

If we're talking older games with great storylines, don't forget Deus Ex, Max Payne, and Max Payne 2 - the Max Payne games are a must for fans of the film noir style, and great games with really enjoyable storylines even if you're not a noir fan.

I only played the demo from steam but I already knew from those few minutes that the story would be great. Didn't post it since I wasn't sure :p
I'm going to buy the game tomorrow ^^

Together with watching the new series boardwalk empire i'll be in the maffia mood once again :p

    edit: @ crazeycanuk

Did you play ffx or other ff games? Because I didn't really get into final fantasy 12 (quit at about 20 hours), ffx-2 was fun, but that story is just the sequal to ffx (also quit the game due to bugs, I two assaults every step, it took me like 3 hours to get up mt gagazet). Also bought some final fantasy game for the ds (4 or 6 dunno which one), seemed just as boring as ff 12.

I hope ff13 will be more intruiging (trailer looked good). I really would want to lose myself in an epic adventure again :p

Looking for a decent racer to play. I've been playing blur and split second lately. Both I got bored off about 8 hours in. (Fun games though)

Tried f1 2010, and I really dont feel like playing it anymore. (See the massive thread about it)

Something like grid. On road racing.

Test Drive Unlimited? Basically like a sandbox racer - you drive around hawaii and race whenever you feel like it. Test Drive Unlimited 2 is coming out. You could try to get into the closed beta.

Is Assassin's Creed 2 any fun? is it a very repetitive game like the original? should I wait for the brotherhood instead of AC2? or should I just buy fallout new vegas?

    Thanks!

Assassin's Creed 2 was amazing. I have it on the Xbox, and I have maxed the achievements.

I agree that Assassin's Creed was very repetitive, but I don't think the second one is. Each mission is a littler different from the last, and there are some missions that are completely different.

I think I've played through the game about 3 times, and it's a long game.

Looking for a good single-player modern FPS.

I was tempted to jump into the FP modern combat games, but I didn't know which of them had a better single player mode. Not much of an online gamer.

What are some good sidescrolling games for PC? I don't want any games that run on emulators. I also don't want any flash or online games.

I'm looking for some pure side scrolling, no side scrolling where you aim with the mouse like abuse.

I too have a love for side scrolling games. But the mouse is pretty much common in the PC world... so I can only recommend one that I really like: Altitude (you can use the mouse mode, which they just recently added) which is an aerial combat game. It is available on Steam, GamersGate and other digital distribution services. I haven't played Rocket Knight on the PC but the demo (for the PS3) was quite fun. Shank is coming soon, it looks quite interesting and the demo was fun.
