Few months ago I played Wondering Willows and liked it a lot. Now I'm looking for similar time consuming point and click adventure with colorful graphics and nice and easy story. Any recommendations?
-
I think you should add the Racing/Simulation games:
NASCAR Racing 2003 Season
Race On
The NASCAR game is so expandable and customizable its just like today's NASCAR without the rules. With a sweet AI core to boot. Race On is mainly for GT and Rolex fans. Its a very fun racing game to play, and the different series will get you trying to master things like crazy. -
Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is a good superhero game.
Been out on PC since Nov. 26 2010.
-
hey guys I love rts/citybuilder games can u recommend anything, I have sc2 and its good but not enough base building for me, I like old c&c games also old school like zeus etc. Anything out there thanx.
-
Hm... Tropico 3's kinda fun
-
Tropico 3 is pretty damn awesome, very tongue in cheek.
I got it during the Steam sales last month. -
Hay all, I got a new Lenovo Ideapad Y460 this morning. Its a really great laptop so far. Iv never seen so many ports one one laptop let alone an 14 inch laptop. I do have tons of games from my last alienware but Iv ben out of the loop for about 10 months. Id like some ideas on what kinda games I should test and post videos for(I have new youtube channel(l link)).
Some of the games I was thining about are
- world of warcraft
- call of duty:black ops
- battlefeild bad company2
- age of conan
- lord of the rings online
- vanguad(mmorpg)
- ffxiv
- other mmorpgs
Im a huge mmorpg fan, the biggest on notebookreview. If there is any mmorpg you want to see a video of please let me know and Ill do it. I know some of those games I listed are kinda drab but any suggestions would be greatQ -
I hope you have the version with the 5650.
-
Me too. I sincerely hope you got the one with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650. I think buying laptops with integrated gpu is just wasting money if you want to play some games even if they are not that graphics demanding.
-
What are some great mainly single player first or third person shooter games?
I don't like Fallout though, but I do love ArmA 2.
Also, what games are fun when just messing around in it with a friend? -
Recommend some good FPS games except COD....Please?
-
I don't know whether you know about openarena... a lot of my friend didn't know about it.. if you don't, try it, it's free and open source, when you like Quake you'll love it! It's really great online or especially for LAN games.
-
Mass Effect 1 and 2 are very good third person shooters (with a bit of RPG).
-
whoa, nice thread, i hope this will be updated soon, i saw some other games worth reviewing.
-
Im looking for a good indie strategy game.
I play etw, dow2, kings bounty, coh, grat space battles, civ 5.
Could anyone reccomend me something interesting -
Any more RPG suggestions? I like action RPGs, but I'm willing to give most things a try. I've picked up the Witcher on Steam, and I'm looking for some other RPGs for cheap while the sales are on.
Thanks in advance -
Dragon Age Origins ? Its by far one of my favorite new RPGS right now.
-
has anyone played Singularity and Sniper? any personal experiences? i was giving a thought for these games.
-
Downloading it now. Anyone have any other recommendations while games are stupid cheap? I'm hoping I can stock up for the better part of the coming year. Heck, if I get most of the gameplay out of DAO and the Witcher, I should be set with the amount of time I have for gaming
.
-
I would get DAO but with DA2 coming I don't want to
-
SomeRandomDude Notebook Evangelist
You should still get it. DA2 will probably assume the player knows something about the DA universe and mythology, and you also get to import your save file afterwards (the decisions you made in DA affect the world around you in DA2) -
Is DA series difficult? does it have a high learning curve? From some gameplay videos, DAO looks quite hard to me
-
Don't know if it can be called an RPG really, but I'm really enjoying Darksiders!
Dungeon Siege II is a good one, Dragon Age as a mate already said, arcania 4... I think that's it -
jenesuispasbavard Notebook Evangelist
It is. Impossible to win sometimes if you don't have the right team (except by lowering the difficulty).
P.S. Either that or I is noob. -
I just realized that there's a bunch of Star Wars games on sale on steam... I haven't played a Star Wars game in years, what's the best in your opinion (gameplay, addictiveness
)?
-
where is DMC.... thats a greeeeeat game~!!!
-
It's old, but i love Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Best star wars game ever, made by a great company.
-
^ ok, thanks for the advice!
-
not to mention it's on sale for $2.50 on steam right now.
if you pick it up here's some tips:
It's a little choppy on Win 7, so it's best to save often, and if it freezes on you, quick save and quick load (one of the f buttons does the save and one of the f buttons does the load, I don't remember which ones though.)
Great gameplay, you can even play it through twice, going dark side one time and killing everyone. It's a lot harder, but you can go light side too. lots of force powers to play with. -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
If i may add mate, Star Wars: Republic Commando is just so AWESOME, althought its an old FPS. The AI is phenomenal, its full of humor, tension, shooting and blasting.
The campaign is awesome, the scenery too, and its playability its stellar. Too bad that its an underrated game, on Xbox1 it was a real blast. Dunno if steam still sells it, i bet its cheap and definitely its worth a shot! -
Lol, yeah, I bought it and had to do some research until I was able to run it
But now it seems to work fine, were just some compatibility issues...
to bad there doesn't seem to be a way of playing it full screen... ??
Thanks!! Sounds good, maybe I'll give it a try too, it's on sale too
-
hmm. starts out full screen when I play it. not sure what the issue could be. -
Republic Commando was a great game. The only real problems were that it was too short, and there was no sequel.
I already bought the game so it's not really a recommendation, but I'd still like to know if BioShock is a scary game. I don't do well with scary games and I guess I should've figured it out from the Halloween Steam sale, but I heard it had story elements similar to Ayn Rand novels and stuff, so I was interested and picked it up. Now I'm wondering if it was a mistake because I really, really don't do well with scary. Any takes on this? -
never played, but it didn't seem too scary to me. depends on what you define as scary. Just start playing, and if it bothers you, stop. -
jenesuispasbavard Notebook Evangelist
I wholeheartedly approve of this comment. -
Singularity isn't that bad, but if you play all the popular titles like Half Life 2, Bioshock, F.E.A.R etc. you will feel like the game take bits of every single of this game and put it in one game.
-
Let me fill in a few great racing titles (which surprisingly few know of):
Live for Speed:
The Live for Speed Team/Independent
Free demo
Singleplayer
Multiplayer (LAN/Internet)
Supports wheels with clutch pedal
Mainly aimed at realistic physics, very different from Need for Speed which tends to aim for good graphics.
Latest patch dates back to early 2010, but developers are working hard on the new tire physics which will probably be released in 2011.
I'd recommend a decent game pad (like an xbox or playstation controller) or wheel to play this.
rFactor:
Image Space Inc./Independent
Free trial (60 min)
Singleplayer
Multiplayer (LAN/Internet)
Supports wheels with clutch pedal
If you've ever played GTR you know exactly what to expect.
It's sort of a vanilla version of the engine.
Street Legal Racing: Redline:
Invictus/Activision
Free trial (hard to find but I know there is a 60 min trial somewhere)
Singleplayer only (unofficial LAN support is in the works, only private testing)
Supports wheels with clutch pedal
The street legal part of the name makes it sound a bit boring, but it's actually a really advanced game despite it's age and the level of tuning options are insane; change cam timing, remove pretty much any part of the car or go crazy with a spray can of paint on the car.
Activision has dropped support since many years ago, but the modding community is still updating it with new cars, tracks, parts and features.
Unofficial modified patches like 2.2.1 MWM adds a lot to the game as well.
Viper Racing:
Monster Games/Sierra Entertainment
Free demo (pretty much impossible to find nowadays, includes 1 car and 1 or 2 tracks)
Singleplayer
Multiplayer (LAN/Internet)
Supports wheels with clutch pedal
Really old game with experimental Windows XP support, but very fun and lightweight.
Should be playable on pretty much any recent computer, even netbooks.
That list should keep racers busy for a while

So I have money to spend and nothing to spend it on. I already have plenty of fps's and rpg's but I still want more! based off what I have (I'll rate them) could any of you give me a suggestion?
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 haven't really played yet, but I expect to like it
Call of duty: Black Ops my first ever CoD game, and I know it's just like the others, but 4/5
Half Life 2 + Expansions. 6/5. amazing. =)
L4D2 decent, fun to play with friends. not my first choice. 3.5/5
Metro 2033. again decent, kinda strange and difficult to really get into... 3/5
Portal. This is possibly my favorite game... 6/5
TF2. Fun to play at times, when I'm in the mood for less realistic violence. 4/5
Just cause 2. Fun sandbox game, like the ability to fly around with the grapple, and blowing stuff up isn't bad at all.
Assassins Creed 2: Love the running around, climbing buildings and assassination. I like being stealthy rather than running around shooting everything all the time. 4.5/5
Batman: Arkham Asylum Haven't played yet.
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Love this game, highly anticipating Skyrim, kinda buggy though... 4.5/5
Dragon Age: Origins. have yet to really get into this yet. but so far, so good. I wish these dang rpg's dodn't make it so hard to be a rogue class.
still, 4/5
Mass Effect 1 & 2 Haven't played yet.
Star Wars: KotOR. Great game, 5/5
looking to pick stuff up this sale, I also like other games, a good side scroller might be interesting... I have DiRT 2, and not really wanting another racing game...
any suggestion would rock. thanks guys.
EDIT: BTW, I like puzze games and such like World of goo, VVVVVVVVVV, and such stuff...
I also have WC3, SC1 and 2, Age of Empires 3, Dawn of war 2. not too interested in RTS atm. -
I don't see GTA: IV in there, think you might like it.
Crysis is a decent game too, but might need mods to stay good after you've finished all of the missions.
There's also the Serious Sam HD series (upgraded originals, play these before SS 2) if you want an FPS with a lot of humor, although a bit immature from time to time. -
You might like the Thief Franchise.
Thief: Deadly Shadows
But just be careful, many people have problems with running it on Vista. -
hmmm... that looks interesting. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it goes on sale. I run windows 7, so unless it also has issues with that, I'll be ok.
-
If you like Oblivion and Dragon Age I would highly recommend the Witcher. It starts out slow (though nowhere as long as FF XIII) but once you get into the city the plot opens up and gets really interesting.
-
could someone recommend me a good racing game? i already have dirt 2 and was looking for the same racing game that has awesome effects and graphics, im checking out blur and split second by now, im being low profile to the new age racing world so help is appreciated. thanks!
-
SomeRandomDude Notebook Evangelist
As far as I know Dirt 2 is pretty realistic, or at least tries to be. Both those games you mentioned are arcad-ish, so keep that in mind.
That being said, I played Split/Second and I thought it was ok, 6/10, maybe 7/10 but nothing special. The power plays (the explosions, route changes n all) are quite impressive and fun the first couple of times, but the novelty wears off fast. There aren't that many maps, and some recycle parts from others. It plays best with friends, the fun really starts when you are racing with 3+ people that are constantly trying to make the other one crash. Oh, and it kinda feels cheap at times, they are some unavoidable power plays (if triggered at the right time) that give the one behind you too much of an advantage. -
Try Grid , it's awesome.
-
jenesuispasbavard Notebook Evangelist
F1 2010 is incredible, especially with all the assists off. -
actuallly im giving some alternative about off road racing like racing in the outback and all that stuff, i saw grid and it was awesome but im still giving some thoughts. how about burnout paradise have anybody played it?
-
Do you guys have games that plays great on desktop but you don't want to play on your laptop? I did.
I found RTS mostly not suited to play on laptop because small screen size so everything in screen is too small to be enjoyable. First person and 3rd person shooter works well for me but for some reason I don't like playing Fallout on laptop. The only games I really play on laptop is CoD4, FarCry, GTA SA and GTA IV -
Being as your screen is a 14" (I believe), it makes a BIG difference. Notebooks reaching 17" start becoming much more playable. You can always hook a decent sized monitor up to the laptop if you must.
