Any suggestions on one of these? I already have all the cod's (unfortunately) and BFBC2, homefront, stalkers series, arma 2 plus addons, fallout series.
Does anyone know of a decent military style fps or rpg where you upgrade weapons and so forth?
Thanks,
StevenX -
Metro 2033, Far Cry 2, and maybe Brink. I can't think of anything else at the moment.
-
Bulletstorm?
-
For PC, correct?
Stalker, Crysis, Far Cry 2, Medal of Honor..
And Bulletstorm, as Baka referred... -
Oh yes, MOH is pretty good, if a little short and lacking any sort of RPG elements that I can recall. I couldn't get into bulletstorm or crysis myself, but they do have some weapon upgrading elements. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 might be worth checking out as well, it has some pretty decent kit customization.
-
MOH campaign was great (although short) and it was really cheap on Steam a few weeks back I think.
Crysis 2 is a really good military FPS. Longer campaign and pretty fun to play. Has a decent story.
Ghost Recon Future Soldier and BF3 when they come out. -
It was cheap on D2D couple weeks back, only 7.50. might be worth watching for a steam sale.
-
-
I haven't played it myself, but my friend was totally addicted to Boarderlands which is a FPS-RPG with multiplayer.
-
Borderlands = FPS RPG
STALKER = RPG FPS
Medal of honor = FPS
Crysis 1, 2 = FPS
Team fortress 2 (has different weapons with stats) -
Borderlands sounds right up your alley. It's got a solid mix of RPG (skill trees, character roles/classes, special abilities) and FPS elements.
It barely counts, but I'll throw in a vote for Medal of Honor Airborne. You can upgrade your weapons as you progress through the campaign, but beyond that it's mostly a standard (if very open-ended) FPS. Still, very fun and underrated if you ask me. -

I have borderlands. I've got loads of games I have never even installed. I got a bunch cheap at target that have that bioware DRM so I wanted to make sure the DRM was disabled. splinter cell and something else..
Wife and I won borderlands on 360. Borderlands is honestly one of the funnest games we ever played. I have it for pc but never installed it.
Cryis 1 and 2 and Warhead (have them). I love the graphics and open style but not much rpg elements.
What about military strategy games?
RPG style?
Thanks for everyone's responses as well.

Military strategy like Civ? -
If you want to buy Civ 5, check steam for the next three days because right now there's 2K game sales going on for the next three days. You never know if Civ 5 will be on sale.
-
The only thing I disliked about Borderlands is the fact that you have to fight the same exact enemies in the same exact places whenever you re-visit an area.
-
The Jagged Alliance and Men Of War games might be just what you're looking for Steven. And UFO: Alien Invasion is a pretty decent freeware game in the style of the old X-Com games.
News - UFO:AI
EDIT: Deus Ex series might be worth checking out as well.
EDIT2: Just in case you missed my previous response due to the merger. If you haven't played them Metro 2033 and Far Cry 2 are great. -

Thanks TBlazer. Metro I have..did a lot of benching with it. Never played it past 2nd chapter.
Far Cry 2 I liked a lot. Game is serveral years old but pretty good. The mouse float makes me dizzy sometimes. sounds weird I know.

Just remembered another one you may not have played from the Fallout series, Fallout Tactics. It's a pretty decent game IMO, a lot of people don't really like it for some reason though. Mainly because it doesn't stay very true to the fallout lore and story I believe.

Anyone know of any more tower defense games?
I've played Defense Grid though and am looking for another simple TD game that I can play a quick round of between study breaks (yes, 30 minutes is a good study break!)
-
Ballons tower defence 4
-
Anomaly warzone earth is a reverse TD if you are interested.
Sanctum is a FPS Tower defense.
And there are tons out there on Steam. -

Legaue of Legends isn't a pure tower defense game but its alot of fun and free. Also a match lasts 20-40 mins most of the time.
Had a thread awhile back

If you like Warcraft III, there's a lot of TD maps made for it.
-
-
theres revenge of the titans... its a decent TD game...
-
I'm also playing Revenge of the Titans. Very cute and fun.

I'm looking for games to play with my cousins during the summer either over LAN or split screen/co-op.
I won't have access to internet so it can't be online games.
I'm looking for games like Counter Strike, FIFA.
Here's the list of games I have in mind. I already own some.
Counter Strike Source, FIFA 11, NBA 2k11, DotA, Blur, Split/Second, Tomb Raider Guardian of Light and Street Fighter IV.
It's for the whole summer, so I'm gonna need some more.
Thanks in advance. -

I was wondering what games are very similar in game play to the ones I most enjoy. I am looking to upgrade from an older desktop to a similarly capable laptop so I can at least play my current favorites. Until recently I only had dialup, so online gameplay isn't as important as the game itself.
Age Of Empires 3: I love this game, but may look into something that plays similar online to give me something different.
Battlefield 1942 (also Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2, and Battlefield 2) : I cannot say how much I love this game, even the way it plays offline(never played any online). I have played Call of duty offline and do not like the gameplay as much as Battlefield. I just love the Spawn points and the capture concept. -
AoE3: If you're looking for online RTS'ing, nothing compares to Starcraft. That community isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
BF1942: Bad Company 2 seems like the logical next step here. But with video games, I feel like too much of the same thing quickly grows old. I also enjoyed Battlefront 2 and Battlefield 2, but after playing Borderlands on a friend's computer I think I will purchase that next. The system reqs are easy and from what I hear, the game is still being updated with new weapons. Steam really offers a wide variety of FPS-style games at great prices, ranging from zombie killing to military shooters to crazy things like TF2. Look around; you'll find something you like. -
BOOO STARCRAFT!!!!
if you want something cool try the Dawn of war 2 games...their amazing!!!
or you can get a cheap copy of company of heroes.... imo best rts of all time as it actually takes skill to play
