    Hey everyone!

First all just wanted to say hello since i'm new to this part of the forums lol.

I need a good game for me and my g/f to play together. We used to play WoW together but it's just wayyyyy to time consuming to get far in that game.

We need something we can either play together or online with other people.

Games we have played together are: LFD2, and Portal 2

I'm welcome to any recommendations that would be a good game where we could have some good competition, just pass some time, and also have fun.

There's Borderlands which is a cooperative FPS with RPG elements where you run through killing lots of NPCs and collecting guns.

Starcraft 2 is pretty good, but no storyline for multiplayer. oh! Magicka is an excellent 2 player game, but you might end up hating each other (jk, it's lots of fun, just gets frustrating when your teammates blow you up on accident.)

Just a warning, from what I gathered, Civ 5 is "dumbed-down" in relation to Civ 4. If you two like deep games Civ 4 might be more your style.

The online in SC2 can get pretty competitive. It's still fun to play against others of your level or team up against CPUs to do things that wouldn't work in multi.

Borderlands is fun when you play with one or more person just don't expect to enjoy it as much solo if you want something that you can play both solo/coop. As far as MMOs go, i don't really have one to recommend, i used to play a lot of Guild Wars but it's getting old and GW2 is still long in coming.

Magicka is a lot of fun, i haven't killed a friend by accident once (lightning bolt excluded), the only accidents were "planned" if you get my meaning ;).

You can try dawn of war II as well, it's a mix of RTS and RPG in one package and you can do the campaign in coop too. Download the demo from steam to see if it's fro you.

EDIT: I've played civ 4 and civ 5, they are both different, some aspects of civ 5 are more complicated than in civ 4 and vice-versa, i wouldn't simply say it's simply a dumbed down version of civ 4. If you end up liking civ 4/5 you could also try sins of a solar empire.

Try Splinter Cell Conviction, it has awesome gameplay and the story line is pretty immersing too. Might wanna try Singularity. It's a pretty nice game with great graphics. Or you can go for Bioshock2 which always creeps you out while playing at night. Oh and for that matter, FEAR2 with Quake-type gameplay and a scary storyline is highly recommended as well.

    Happy Shooting. :D

I bought Pokemon Black and White when they came out but I've been playing less and less of them the last few months. Only games I still have to play are CS: Source, TFC, Starcraft 2, and Modern Warfare 2. I've been playing a lot of TFC lately also since I'm just used to it.

I have TF2 but I just can't get myself to play it that much. They drastically changed the game's style from TFC and I don't like it at all. The cartoony feel combined with a hack and slash feel that TF2 has kills it. TFC had an intense militaristic strategic feel to it. I just wish they had stuck to making TF2 into the military type game with rocket launchers and sentry guns from the old beta screenshots.

There is Gears of War for PC and Mass Effect 2.

For PC RPGs similar to WoW the only thing I can think of would be Guild Wars, however a new one is supposed to be coming out soon and the old community may be dead.

The old GW community isn't dead yet but not very active either as for GW2 we hope we'll have it in 2012 so it's still a while before you'll be able to play it.

    hi guys,

Please recommend me a first person shooter which involves unique gameplay and actions from this time line "2008 till date". Graphics is not of a critical requirement for me. A robust storyline and some out-of-the box gamplay is what am seeking for. It isnt Necessary to be a famous title.

Games played so far till date:

    Crysis and Crysis2,
L4d and L4D2, Bulletstorm, FEAR total series including project origin,
COD series, MOH 2010, Borderlands, BF BC2

While not technically a shooter. It's from a shooter perspective but more of a puzzle game, the portal series. I heard good things about cryostasis too though i never played it myself. The only shooter i've played recently were on console at friend's places.

The main question is do you want to play mainly multi or single?

Seems like you have the main ones... Just cause 2 is a pretty fun 3rd person shooter. There is also Far cry and Far Cry 2 (I've never played) and metro 2033 is pretty good for a post nuclear shooter. The Half Life Series is really good, just jump right into Half Life 2 if you want good graphics...

Is Dragon Age 2 worth 30 dollars? I heard some horrendous reviews on it. Also, how's Terraria? I've been hearing a lot of good reviews about it on Steam, but if I have Minecraft, I don't see the point of buying it too. What do you guys think?

Dragon age 2 isn't bad if you expect to play it more like a hack&slash (and don't mind the more fancy effects) than a RPG like the original one was. The story doesn't feel as epic either but i still enjoyed it somewhat.

EDIT: DA2 was a game i got on PS3 rather than PC, felt more like a console game than a PC game... There's a demo available on steam if you want to try it out.

Can you folks recommend me a few games similar to Total Annihilation? I've played quite a few RTS games (including Starcraft 1, Command and Conquer series and Warcraft 2 and 3) but they all feel a bit "arcadey" and have nowhere the depth of TA (stuff like true advantage of high ground, wreckage blocking shots and providing cover, queuing orders, etc). The only game that I also enjoyed was Age of Empires III, but it's still shallow compared to TA (what I loved was hitting foot soldiers with heavy cannons and watch them get thrown halfway across the map, and naval battles).

I've heard that Supreme Commander 1 is made truly in the spirit of TA: is it worth to get? I also heard that SupCom 2 is much weaker than 1, is it true?

Also: I own Civilization 4 Complete Edition and love it, and have been considering getting Civ 5. However, online consumer reviews are very disappointing, saying that it's very dumbed down. Is it really?

    Thanks!

SupCom 1 is as close are you're going to get to TA. Civ 5 and SupCom 2 have demos on Steam so you can get firsthand experience in them. I'd also recommend Company of Heroes if you like wreckage and cover. DoWII is like a refinement of CoH, but it comes off arcadey with the art style so up to you on that one.

Can anyone recommend a great ONLINE co-op game?

I've struggled to find more than a handful games that can support online co-op. So far, I've played Borderlands (best co-op game yet?), Magicka, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Left 4 Dead 2 and Portal 2.

    Heloooo,

Now, I have one of my laptops connected to my TV and I want a racing game since I have a keyboard with touchpad and no other mouse so I can't play any other kind of games..
What do you suggest? Long time I have not played racing games here, last one I enjoyed were NFS Underground :D

    My specs are nVidia GT 320M 1GB, 8GB 1066Mhz RAM, P8400.

I think I'll buy the game off at steam...

    Thank you :)

With a 320M? Dirt3 might be a little heavy to try to run on that chip. You may try Trackmania Nations, or even try TORCS (which is free and open-source): torcs News

Main issue with TORCS is a steep learning curve ;)

I'm looking for a new game and am leaning toward Mass Effect 2 but I am open to suggestion and would appreciate any input. Here are my game likes and dislikes:

    Likes:
Single player (When I try multiplayer I die almost instantly.)
    RPG
    Puzzles (Love Portal 2)
Strategy (Sniper and slower paced vs endless masses of enemies)

    Don't like:
    Wandering around lost.
Hunting for junk to trade for food or ammo.
    Endless masses of enemies.

    Games that I've liked:
    GTA VC (Great music)
    Half Life 2
    Portal 2
Call o Duty MW2 (Love the missions at the end Estate Takedown and Hidden)
    Fear (All of them)
    Far Cry
    Crysis
    Bioshock

    Games I didn't like:
    Fallout 3
GTA San Andreas - Too much driving around and bad music

    Thanks for any suggestions.

You might try GTA - Vice City. IMO the music was MUCH better than any other GTA (Wildstyle radio in particular), although tastes are very personal.

You also drive around much less, because you're inside one city only, instead of 3 cities with a lot of countryside in between (which I also hated).

I loved GTA Vice City and I loved the music. VC is at the top of my list of favorite games.

For RPG I would go with The Witcher 2 from Steam for 39.99. Its still 49.99 on GOG.
