My friends and I are planning to purchase it whenever it comes on sale. That Day Z mod looks incredibly fun.
-
It sure is man, I know you guys will have fun with it! And with a group of friends you'll be having a blast!
-
ArmA II should be on this list, and ArmA III when it is released. One of the games that almost makes me buy a very expensive computer
-
^ I just wish the controller scheme wasn't so dang complicated for Arma
-
...and to be honest the only bit of Arma II that I have played is a little bit of the Single-Player along with some of the Practice Stuff - I really only got it to play the DayZ Mod - which I have been cracking-out on with some buddies on Ventrilo... after making a few tweaks to the controller-scheme I've made it like any other FPS I play - for the most part...
-
can someone suggest me an MMO that's cheap? I just want to spend playing online game this summer.
-
Lord of the Rings Online, is free to play, and a very polished MMO.
Planetside 2 will be out at some point, perhaps not until the end of summer, but it will be a big hit with a lot of people and be free to play.
DC Universe Online is free to play through Steam. All Points Bulletin is free to play through Steam as well. I have had a lot of fun with both of those. I will keep thinking of more! Enjoy!
Edit: League of Legends is a very fun game too. -
I second this. I messed around with it a bit and it's very fun considering it's free. Nice community of people, too
.

Fantastic alternative to D3:
Path of Exile - A Free Online Action RPG -
I spent around 10 minutes trying to run away from a pack on zombies a few days ago (Had no weapon). I then saw a lighthouse in the distance, after a few more minutes of running I climbed up the ladder to the top of the lighthouse only for the zombies to climb up and kill me >_<
But anyway, awesome game. -
VIPER,
LOL, I know dude, I wish they had not taken away the Makarov players used to spawn with - now its a flashlight!
They say they want to add to the realism of a true Zombie Apocalypse - I say at least give people a pistol. The best thing to do is to immediately start heading North, it's temptimg to hang around the towns along the Shore but there are usually many Zombies AND many Bandits... They've added melee weapons which are supposed to be easier to find now - Hatchet and Crow Bar - I'm not sure if you start with one or not, I'm on Day 8 at the moment so a lot has been patched during this life I've been on. My group and I roll deep and are fairly well-equipped, if you decide you want to join our group just hit me up and I'll get you in. Thats mainly if you've been running solo - which it sounds like - its really hard to trust people in this game! LOL!!
-
So, my new toy arrived today, and I want something to tax the nuts off it!! Anyone got any suggestions?
Mostly I play MMO's, RPG's and shooters, I do like racing games too though.
I'm hoping for something a little off the beaten path - I've played BF3, etc.... -
Well here lately my game of choice has been the DayZ mod for Arma II. I've been loving it! I've wrote a couple posts about it in the previous page or two.
You mentioned BF3, awesome game but yes I need a break too.
I've also been playing the Beta for The Secret World which just ended late Sunday - I enjoyed it so much I bought it along with one of the extra packs. I'm quitting Star Wars - which I haven't played in a while - to play The Secret World which begins on the 3rd I believe, I'll be playing it early for preordering. I'll be playing it during the day but I have a large group of friends I play DayZ with so I'll be doing that at night.
Ofcourse always check out Steam, you can find some good games both old and new (and cheap or expensive).
ENJOY!!!

What's Secret World?
-
The Secret World is an MMO thats based in our world and time but with some twisted-secretive twists... Check out the website and read about it, also watch some YouTube videos of Trailers and Gameplay to see if you might enjoy it, here's a link to their main website and I may add another one if I find it...
The Secret World (thesecretworld.com)
Here's a link to a website which has news and other info about the game which is constantly updated... Crygaia/CGN:The Secret World
Check out the Main website and explore it thoroughly, there's a lot to read and some cool videos. Also go check out this link, which is from the main website after clicking on the News section and the finding the Countdown to the Last Seal section which is a puzzle game that is seperate from the actual game in terms of gameplay but does add to the story and background of the whole thing. There are a total of 6 Seals that the community had to solve together in order to get this 'door' to open, its pretty much over from what I've seen lately because now we're just waiting on the game to come out but you can still go and check it out and see what its all about, there's YouTube videos on the matter and all kinds of other stuff, give it a try its quite interesting... Here's that link: Countdown to the Last Seal...

Thanks for the link. Definitely looking into that one. Looks great so far.
-
hi,
besides being in a modern setting, anything ground-breaking about this MMO? Is everything still based on grinding levels, get awesome gears that requires long commitment of play time, and follow certain patterns to beat a raid boss that's posted on MMO-Champion - World of Warcraft News and Raiding Strategies or similar sites? -
Yeah man, exactly like you mentioned except NO grinding levels for gear, in fact there are NO levels at all. Its very VERY different from a game like WOW, closer to SWTOR but much better. Check out the link to their main website and read about it, it might be something you'll enjoy, plus watch some YouTube videos of actual Gameplay. But first go check out this link and read-up on it.

Guys, I'm searching for a good role-playing game. I just finished Mass Effect 3 which was PERFECT until the ending!
I didn't like Dues Ex so exclude it from the recommendations.
So recommend me a game close to Mass Effect 3. Thanks in advance. -
Well, even though ME3 is amazing in itself ther are two recent games that come to mind - Max Payne 3 and Ghost Recon:Future Soldier - both games don't require you to have played the previous installments in my opinion, you may even enjoy Rage which is a little older. One other true-RPG that is completely amazing that you may or may not like is Skyrim...
-
The Witcher 2 is an EXCELLENT RPG. The first one was simply brilliant, one of the best of the past decade imo and I'm about an hour into Witcher 2 and everything so far is indicating it's one of the finest RPG's I'll ever play. Keep in mind it's extremely demanding to run.
-
The Witcher.. especially if you've tried Assassins Creed haha
-
Yes, agreed on the Witcher 2, didnt think of that one, its an awesome game with beautiful graphics!
-
Gameplay-wise Witcher 2 and AC aren't alike at all. But ACII onward are all pretty decent games. AC3 has looked awesome from the vids I've seen.
-
Does the AC series get better than after the first one? How so?
-
Better stories
Allies/Recruits
Long range weapons
Better graphics
New weapons or gadgets like poision, smoke, etc
Vehicles like the flying machine in ACII
Multiplayer
ACIII will have a native lead, during French & Indian, this is very new...And it's probably the first Native American lead in a game -
Mostly it's the story, missions, and the extras. AC1 was very awesome to climb and stuff, but all the missions and side quests were exactly the same and it just got plain boring after all. AC2 onward has added much more depth in the story, the variety of main missions and side missions, and each new game has added a lot of incremental improvements in gameplay.
AC3 will no doubt introduce a lot of new things. The combat is being improved I think and it's a fresh setting that's close to home so that'll be exciting. -
Any recommendations for a good RPG-ish game that is Single Player / does not need an internet connection?
-
Mass Effect was a great series still - wonder what they will do next with the universe
-
Yes, that and Skyrim...
-
Any good 2D RPGs? I guess I can always fire up an emulator and actually just play an old FF game, but wanted to know if there were any recent endeavors in the 2D world.
-
Skyrim and Witcher 2 should hold even the most hardcore gamer for a month at least. They are easily 100+ and 50+ hours games. Me3 has a fun multiplayer and the single player is over in about 25-30 hours. Still very fun to play but you'll be missing out on a great multiplayer component.
-
Haha, Skyrim could actually be like a 1000+ hours game for more dedicated gamers, with all the PC mod quests items characters etc. etc. etc.
Though personally being a more old-school Elder Scrolls fan, Skyrim just didn't work for me... I just felt like "meh" throughout the entire experience. Just somehow lacks the old ES feel for something reason, don't know why...
Anyways, BF3 IS LE FUN FPS. With more of the new expansions and Premium etc., it's become a much better game, and will continue to improve. If they had this stuff on launch it would have been even better
-
My $0.02...
- Baldur's Gate I, II, Expansions + weidu mods
- Planescape - Torment (THE BEST RPG still existing) + mods
- Fallout I, II + mods
- TES Daggerfall, Morrowind + mods
- Deus Ex I
- Arcanum, Of Steelworks and Magicka
I think this is already a year's worth of old school 2D-RPG's with (considered to today) bad graphics but (considered to today) epic stories.
I STRONGLY recommend Planescape - Torment, you can play the game 10 times and still have a different ending (if you don't cheat and go through the walkthrus
)
Edit - And with minor modifications, all of these games operate on modern PC's. -
those games brought back so many good memories for a RPG fan like me. My favorite still is the Wasteland (not sure any of you guys ever played it). I know there was a kickstart campaign for Wasteland 2 that started few months back, I heard the developers got enough money to make a PC and Mac version of the game. Cant wait.
-
Does anyone know a website that you can sign up for to get a trial code for Diablo 3. I've never played any Diablo game but it looks interesting to try...
-
I can't help you with the first part of your question, but I can help with the second. If you really want a great gaming experience try Diablo (the first game). I've played it many a time and still love it. It's what I expected Diablo 2 and 3 to be like, but apparently they missed the mark. It's dark, the atmosphere is foreboding, and the music... man, the music is perfect.
-
I got a guest pass left for you to use, PM me if you want it.
-
I'm going to end up poor this summer...
So far I've bought:
- PAYDAY: The Heist
- Metro 2033
- Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine
- Far Cry 2
- Borderlands GOTY Edition
- Mirror's Edge
- Orcs Must Die
-
Metro 2033 looks pretty good. Too bad I spoiled the ending for myself -__-
But Far Cry 2... Man, I love that game. Graphics are astounding, storyline is actually pretty good, and, while it does have its repetitive moments, it doesn't detract from the game.
Good luck with all the driving you'll be doing
-
Far Cry 2 seems amazing.. really, so far I can't run Metro 2033, going to wait until I get a new laptop
-
A laptop? Damn. Make sure that sucker has a graphics card and CPU willing to put up with Far Cry 2 and Metro 2033
Those games will curb stomp anything that isn't up to the task.
They'll do it, too!
-
I might
hehe
I'm currently limited with space so I not so much into buying a(nother) desktop -
Yes, a laptop... here's mine, Curb stomps most PC's
The specs are in the Sig... plus I'll be swapping out the 560's SLI for 680's SLI very soon thanks to Mythlogic who just made it possible...

PC build in Progress, Classified/Classified/Classified
http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff416/valsphotos79/66813885.jpg
If what you're looking for is something to play Games with then you do need to make sure you shop around. Laptops have less space to work with so Heat becomes your #1 enemy, I highly recommend a good cooling pad to resolve that issue. Any other questions about Laptops for Gaming just send me a PM - I'll do my best to steer you in the right direction.

VAL, that setup is what I dream about for my PC
Right now I'm sitting in front of some weird metal desk thing with no room for my legs (I'm 6' 4", LOL) all while sitting on a wooden chair with a folded pillow. Needless to say, it still hurts my a**. Such is being home from college
And is that a water-cooled PC I see? Seems like a big step forward, but my next (read "second") PC build might be water-cooled.
As for all the LED lights, I'm not so sure. Doesn't seem that practical to me, but that's just my opinion. Only thing I have lit up are the intake, rear, and giant side fans that came with my Blackstorm case.
EDIT: Any reason you just didn't build a PC? Bigger screen, wireless mouse and keyboard, etc, etc. And is that a second mouse I see? -
does anyone know if there is a game similar to baldurs gate: dark alliance for ps2?
pc of course
-
Hi guys,
Just brought myself a new laptop & want to push it's technological limits. What cutting edge PC games out there will give my system a real run for it's money.
Running a Clevo P170EM with Nvidia GTX 680M 4GB GDDR5 & i7-3820QM, so would like to see what it's capable of.
Thanks for the recs
-
Anything you want to play...
-
Yeah man I feel you on the space issue, I'm 6'3'' but I'm quite comfortable with my table you see and I have a High Back 'Big&Tall' Executive Leather Office Chair which is amazing. As far as the LEDs go you're right, they're not necessary but I love them! They look so cool, and yes water-cooled to keep from launching me into outer space... But I'm building a PC with the 3D screen and all the extras. And as far as the second mouse I'm not sure if you're talking about the Keypad I have on the left side maybe? I do have a mouse on the right side which is the Razer 3G Deathadder, but on my left I have the Razer Nostromo Gaming Keypad which is super-sweet..
-
Oh man, that brings me back. Sophomore to senior year of high school I had my dad's old office chair. Simply amazing. Too bad she broke down during the summer and I couldn't take her to college (my roomie and I just stole some office furniture from our dorm
). And I didn't notice that was a gaming keypad. I've never played with anything specifically designed for gaming (mouse, keyboard, keypad, etc), but I'd love to try one out sometime soon.
Oh, and tell me how the 3D setup goes. I know the technology has advanced quite a bit over the past few years, but I'm still not sure about it (especially for computer work/games).
