I'm looking for a good racing game with some longevity more along the arcade route than sim any good recommendations ?

I'd say check out the need for speed series. I've played Hot pursuit and The Run and both are far more arcade than any others I have, like Dirt series or F1.
HTH -
NFS for sure, however the F1 2012 and Drift series for pc are also arcade fun with story.
When you ever do get tired of the arcade part, have a look at Rfactor, massive good fun when you skill up and compete online, was one of the best racing experience i have ever had on pc for damn sure, you do need to focus a lot on your driving skills though but that are simulators for you... -
Anyone have any ideas for an RPG/RTS hybrid? Heavier on the RPG side preferred. I'm thinking of trying X-com. Nothing too time consuming.
If only Divinity: Original Sin was out already... -
You would probably like Dragon Commander too. Not out yet either but it's a RTS with RPG elements. Sounds pretty unique actually.
-
Divinity: Dragon Commander? That's all I could find.
Also, LOTRO, at least to me, really seems like it went downhill after the F2P. When I tried it in closed and open beta it was a really polished gem, but now it (and especially the interface) feel really clunky, just had to give up after 10 mins. Granted this was on a GPU a half as powerful, but still.... -
Playing World in Conflict again, this stays a gem of a game
-
OutRun 2006 Coast 2 Coast if you can find it. Pure arcade goodness
-
Dragon Commander is made by Larian, the same people who make the Divinity series. It's coming out this year probably and is an RPG/RTS hybrid and a very unique game. I would keep an eye on it if I were you.
LOTRO I think is great. The F2P is excellent I feel, and it's a great way to draw players into the game. I started as F2P, but saw how awesome the game was and quickly became a paying member. I think a lot of people go through that same transition, and it was nice to be able to start for free. The interface is pretty awesome on my Alienware laptop. Very clean and efficient for the most part. I think you need to spend more than 10 minutes with it to really get an idea of how good the game is.... -
Company of Heroes 2, I feel it was a bit under the radar but really enjoying the graphics and gameplay!
-
Guys I haven't been catching up with the latest games as I was having exams. I'm having my vacation soon and I need your recommendations.
I want a game with a good plot like Max Payne 3 / Mass Effect 3.
What do you think about Bioshock Infinite, Dead Islan Raptide ?
Or if there is any other good game that has been released recently and has a good plot.
Thanks in advance. -
Dead Island Riptide* Heard the first game wasn't too bad. Not too sure about this one.
While I've never played any of the BioShock games I've heard nothing but great things about BioShock: Infinite.
Also, finally finished the Mass Effect trilogy. The writing/character development seemed to go downhill after ME1 (and much more so in ME3), but it's by far my favorite series of all time. -
Dude right off the bat I must say go play the entire Bioshock series - if you haven't already played the first two. Amazing games and you want story you get STORY with this trilogy. Do that first, then come back here after you've spent a good while on those to see what you should play next. But seriously, go play that whole series if you are half way interested in it. You won't be disappointed...
-
Hi there! I'm looking for horror FPS games as good as the first release of Bioshock. I just finished it and went trying Bioshock 2, though very similar gameplay, it wasn't necessarily as scary as the first one. The sound, the story, the theme, being underwater and all that.
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
First FEAR was scary
. Might try Call Of Cthulhu as well.
After playing some more BS1 I come to conclusion that it wasn't really that scary. And later on I actually felt bad when I had to kill Big Daddies (since it gets way too easy to kill them later on). Such cool guys, why oh why do I have to kill them! Oh right, ADAM!!!
To be honest BSI isn't as good as it is being told. It's definitely a good (great) game, but most of the praising reviews out there are a bit too exaggerating. -
The FEAR 1 expansions were often scary too (Perseus Mandate and... I forgot the second one), although lacked the intense of the original. FEAR 2 was a complete miss.
-
I've been wanting to try, but I don't like the idea of battling ghosts with bullets lol.
BSI seems like a weird game, though it's still about isolated city filled up with messed up civilization. And I bet it's even less scary than BS2.

Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
I read a review of FEAR before I played it that talked up "the ladder scene" and how blitheringly terrifying it was. The comments were chock-full of people confirming how frightened they were when they reached that point in the game. I played through the entire game on edge, dreading when the moment of helpless fear would rear its ugly head.
And it never came. Later on, I checked a youtube video and realized that an encounter early in the game was the infamous "ladder scene". It was so unimpressive at the time that I wrote it off, thinking there was no way that was the bladder-emptying moment that everyone was talking about. It wasn't the game itself that made the game terrifying (6/10, where HL2's Ravenholm would be a 4/10), but the hype that kept me peeking around corners and climbing up ladders like the next one was going to be the one that required a change of underwear. -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
I guess it depends on how hardened you are. If I remember correctly that scene wasn't a very big shock to me too, but overall I too stayed pretty much on edge during the entire gameplay. Not only because of the "scare" factor, but also AI was darn good (even to this day).
Yeah, it's not scary, but it doesn't have to be that way too. Dunno about BS2, but BS1 had to be scary, since overall theme of the game was "survival." In BSI you just have to escape.
Also a nice scary (and nasty) game was Condemned: Criminal Origins. Actually not a shooter (there weren't a lot of bullets for .45 and most of the game you've spent with a simple yet trusty 2x4, or an axe), but still played from the first person perspective and scary. I've enjoyed it very much. The second game was only released on consoles, maybe even a single console (PS3), which was a real pity.
It was also banned in Germany, so you know it's good, bloody, scary, and gory
.

Turn off the lights, put on some headphones, and play Amnesia. I don't scare easily and that game creeped me out multiple times.
-
Is Borderlands 2 similar to Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas?
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
^^^Interesting question really. I would say no. Fallout 3/NV are pretty good single player games. Borderlands is more of a coop one. Playing it alone was very boring for me.
-
Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
In addition to the single player/co-op question (I actually enjoyed Borderlands solo, haven't played Borderlands 2 though), there's the question of gameplay and game styles. Borderlands is a fast-paced run-and-gun shooter with RPG elements, while the recent Fallout games have much more pure RPG elements while the shooting aspect is secondary and more slow-paced and strategic. I've played Borderlands and Fallout (not BL2 or New Vegas) and I liked both of them tremendously. Borderlands is more outright fun, while Fallout is more immersive. -
I love this game and have been playing for couple years now, really love the fact that it is indepth make you think involved game and not a spamming one button the fastest highest level wins game.
-
What are the missions like in EVE Online? Are there good stories to be found? The game seems interesting but I don't know too much about it.
Since we're talking about MMOs, though, I would definitely recommend Everquest 2. Not only is it a fun game, but it's free to play, and the restrictions for playing free are not that bad at all. Plus, if you like the game, it only costs $5 to upgrade to silver membership, which unlocks some perks. Well worth it I think.
The game is very similar to LOTRO, though, so if you don't like the "hotbar" style combat, or the large, open-world spaces, etc, you might not like EQ2. If you like LOTRO and want something similar but a bit more wild, check out EQ2. -
Hello, can someone tell e if im able to play Borderlands on my notebook that has 8600m GT, 2.2GHZ duo and 3GB?
-

-
You guys need to check out GameTect. It's like a recommendation website except it's all based on other people's ratings.

fatboyslimerr Alienware M15x Fanatic
Really in need of some game recommendations. I've played most of the big releases this year and absolutely loved Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infite. Quite frankly not many games can follow those two.
One of my favorite games of all time is the Witcher 2 but I'm waiting for the Witcher 3 before playing through again to import savegames.
Currently playing Max Payne 3 again on hardcore. Maybe I'm looking for a 2012 game that I might have missed? -
MickyD1234 Notebook Prophet
Far Cry 3? In the same league... -
fatboyslimerr Alienware M15x Fanatic
Not actually a big fan of FC3. I've played it a bit but it hasn't got me hooked like TR or BI.
I'm really looking for a game with an excellent story! -
MickyD1234 Notebook Prophet
Go back in time then. Portal 2 has the best dialogue/story (funny) I have ever played. Not for shooter fans but I'm playing through for the third time just to listen to it! I'm not aware of any recent 'good stories' that are hidden gems but I'm listening.. -
"Spec Ops: The Line" was different from anything else I've ever played or heard about. It was released during the middle of 2012. The controls suffer a bit on PC (will try it with a controller next) and I'm not sure if my PC just couldn't handle it or the graphics weren't optimized well, but it was the best game under $15 I've ever bought.
-
fatboyslimerr Alienware M15x Fanatic
Yeh I played that and whilst it dealt with some pretty heavy issues and self-realisation in a bleak and sandy world I felt it was let down by quite sloppy movement and environment interaction. -
Buy a used ps3 and play the uncharted series.
How about Alan Wake? -
Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
The only 'Cry' games I'd played before were Far Cry and Crysis and I didn't think much of either of them, but I'm really enjoying Far Cry 2 right now. It's older, but then that also means you can get it cheap (I think $5 on GOG.com right now). The African setting and dealing with warlords and rebel factions and the like make for a different experience from most other shooters. It's got its quirks, but it's quite an impressive game in spite of them. -
I was pretty bummed how scripted the use of the environment was after seeing how it was toted as "unique" and what have you, but I was even more bummed after realizing how this game will probably sit on a lot of shelves. It's a fantastic storyline hidden behind "eh" gameplay and iffy controls (on the PC). However, I'm always more than glad bring this game to the forefront when talking about how game publishers (cough*EA*cough) are pushing for online multiplayer in every single game. "Spec Ops: The Line" just brings up so many good debate topics; it's phenomenal in that regard, as well.
Got "Crysis 2" for free and the storyline doesn't seem all that interesting (only game I've ever played out of order - really need to try the first game), but "Far Cry 2" was my first hardware intensive game. It barely ran on my last computer, but it's a great (albeit repetitive) game. Graphics are still damn good, as well. -
Hey guys, could any of you tell me of a game similar to Warlords Battlecry 3? I loved that game. The hero leveling and customization is the best. Heroes of Might and Magic comes close, never tried turn based battle system before though. Any of you guys try Path of Exile? Was fun at first, but got bored too quickly....
-
Hi all, is anyone played allready new Metro Last Light ? Its awesome I think. Recomend it to all, give a try guys and share opinion.

Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
In my long desire to play something set in medieval japan, Im currently searching (quite terribly) for some RPG that takes place in there
or at least a good mod for some known rpg
I always wondered why most rpg are either space or medieval europe, so tiresome -
Jade Empire
Edit: Actually I think it may be based on ancient China.. but still.. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
yep from the name its china, I never played it though, Im replaying DAO now, but Im finding it very boring since there are basically no interesting mods out there, just the usual trash pron mod and some other minor tweaks, nothing really interesting like solomons revenge for kotor
well I never played it, might as well try it.
still if someone finds a feudal japan rpg Im very interested to try it -
I'm not usually much of an RPG gamer - but Fallout New Vegas is fantastic, moddable & currently 4.99 on Steam (75% off)
25 best Mods -
With my luck I'll miss any Steam sales, but here's a bit of information to see if you guys can help me with recommendations:
Game I've Played: Half-Life series, Mass Effect trilogy, Crysis 2: Maximum Edition, BF2: Complete Collection, BF3, Spec Ops: The Line, Fallout 3: GOTY, Dead Space, Far Cry 2, Planetside 2
I just got done with HL2: Episode 2 (imo, was better than HL2 - don't shoot me) and finished the Portal demo so it's a given Portal/Portal 2 will be my first purchases. I love physics and puzzles, but I also would really like more information about the HL universe and, unless there are HL mods that add to the story, the Portal games are the only thing standing in between me and others who have been waiting over 6 years for the next HL installment
Speaking of which, I'm glad I wasn't a part of that because
look what I found
I haven't gotten around to playing Dead Space 2 yet (1st game was excellent), but if DS2 is good enough I think DS3 could be my last purchase from EA. Crysis 2 was buggy and it's mediocre storyline was all over the place so I'm hesitant to even buy Crysis 1 or its Maximum Edition.**
**I could rant all day about EA, but unless you really feel like I might be interested in a game, no EA games, please! BF3 was the first and last game I'll ever pre-order because it was a huge disappointment and gamers were lied to. Then I saw the Mass Effect trilogy for $30 on Origin and played through that. It immediately became my favorite game series, but, again, more disappointment via Mass Effect 3. Then came the debacle with the latest Sims game. I don't even play the Sims, but that was the last straw. Unless EA goes under or stops ruining/milking franchises, I'm done with them and voting with my dollar. Moving on!
Now, to get to the heart of it all. I would love to find more games like "Mass Effect." I love "Fallout 3," but I don't ever want to spend 200+ hours in a campaign mode ever again (I'm a completionist - you don't exactly complete FO3, lol). The ME series took me anywhere from 50-80 hours to finish which sounds like a nice 'sweet spot.' It's not that I don't like multiplayer games because something like Ubisoft/Tom Clancy's The Division looks fantastic, but things like Mass Effect 3's repetitive multiplayer, Planetside 2's unbelievable uphill battle for certification points, and BF3's disappointment have left me yearning for story-driven games.
That being said, I wouldn't mind one attempt at a game like EVE Online, but I fear that would be months of learning even if that was the only game I played. I mean, the idea of having to employ a fudging economist to keep track of in-game currency fascinates me to no end, but I'm quite wary; that sounds like time better spent on guitar or a game that has an ending. Also, I know next to nothing about it. What are the missions like or is everything player-driven (i.e. it's more a battle for resources than anything)?
Sorry, but I suck at shortening things down
Thank you all in advance!
Also, out of curiosity and because it's essentially the sister site, does anyone know what's up with Desktop Review? It looks like people only really ask what desktop they should buy, what components they should use to build one, questions about Alienware products, and then they leave. It's really odd; DTR is the go-to site for desktop related issues and such, but it seems quite dead compared to NBR. Ah well, I haven't posted in a while and I love the people on here  -

All I will say is the portal games are simply the best I have ever played in over 10 years. Not to everyone's taste I know but the storyline and humour had me in fits of LOL genuinely! The only games I have played through many times just to listen to the dialogue and explore every nook and cranny. But I do love puzzlers and 3D platformers so it was a winner for me before I started. On top of the it has the best 3D vision implementation full stop. Lights out, glasses on, dolby headphone, only Metro LL compares, and that has full alienFX integration as well so the KB goes dark when in shade, gets gradually brighter as you move into light and turns red when near a heat source. Awesome!
My memory is too poor to get into strategy or any of those 'build your character' stuff, and being colour blind on-line battles are not for me, I keep shooting my own guys! Oh well such is life and good luck with your choices! -
Has anyone played The Saboteur? I really wanna try it.

I ordered my Sager NP8270-S and should be getting it in the mail by the end of this week. I got it with 16 GB RAM, Haswell 4700QM, GTX 780m.
What game(s) would you fellas recommend to take advantage of this rig? I'm looking to buy Far Cry 3, possibly BF3, and the new Splinter Cell game when it comes out. Any other games you can recommend? I'm open to any type of game (FPS, MMO, simulations, etc.) Thanks.
Pete -
Why don't you try asking here? I really liked Bioshock. If you haven't played any, start at the first one. They sell for very cheap on Amazon.
