I'm curious as to why you say the first souls game is more unforgiving than the second one. First one doesn't have health lowering upon death and most importantly, doesn't have the DWGR. I literally went through the game almost naked cartwheeling through basically any and all damage thrown at me. Dark souls 2 rolling is ALOT worse unless you pump all your stats into adaptibility. I was also able to beat all the bosses on souls 1 without (relatively) much trouble while some on souls 2 really grinded my gears

Oh where to begin...
Blighttown, Sen's, Anor Londo, TotG, NG+ 4 Kings, Gwyn - I mean in terms of difficulty, I don't even see how they compare. DS2 was sooo easy compared to 1. -
I wish i had the time to sink into this one! Looks fun, but VERY time consuming?

iBUYPOWER - Jason Company Representative
The Long Dark
I'd check this game out! It's an indie game based on survival/sand-box simulation. It's man vs. wild and I'm really looking forward to it based on alpha gameplay videos! :O -
Looking for a JRPG to play? Try The Last Remnant. Really great game with awesome tactical combat.

I just got Reaper of Souls for Diablo 3 - it really made the game better. My buddy and I had quit after we beat vanilla Diablo 3 because it got real boring, RoS revamped the loot system and added a bunch of I have yet to play with but so far, its been worth every penny.

Hello Everyone!
I get my new laptop tomorrow!!! I'm very excited about it lol. It has 880m sli and i need your glorious advice as to which games i should be playing? I haven't touched a game in over 2 years. I've been eyeing crysis 3, BF 4 and not too sure what else is going to be awesome.
I bought a xbox controller for casual games i can play from my couch if this plays into anything. Yes i know its blasphemy, sue me. Wait don't do that, id have to sell my laptop to pay for legal fees
Thank you very much for your recommendations

Congrats on the new lappy
.
There is so much choice out there for a powerful machine to eat. I use the controller in most games but it does add a small amount of latency. Not noticeable in single-player but on-line (not my thing) the KB/mouse is still king - so I'm told!
Look for bargains (steam?) and get a couple of decent quality recent games. For open world, the last two Batman games are great (Asylum and Origins) and any of the Assassins Creed series. Puzzler? Try Portal and P2, funniest story/dialogue ever (IMO) as well a a brain challenge! Oh, and Bioshock Infinite gets my vote as well.
Good luck.

I need advice on Crysis games!
I just finishes both Crysis 1 and Warhead and had a blast of a time! And now I want to see how to story continues but I had bad things about Crysis 2 and as there is no single player demo for Crysis 2, I need to hear from others would they thought of Crysis 2.
I really don't like New York, are you there during the whole game and in Crysis 3? -
I had a pretty good run playing games. I went through Walking Dead Seasons 2, The Wolf Among Us, Watch Dogs, Sleeping Dogs and now I am sicken to have picked up Alan Wake. I can't believe I spent 4 dollars on this game. It was listed as game of the year ?! I've just had to stop playing mid-way through Chap. 2. My problem is I don't like running around in the dark, the Forest is the worst ever since when are there no animals in a Forest?!?! Its exactly the kind of game I steer clear of-Silent Hill, F.E.A.R, DOOM (endlessly, mindlessly running around in the dark) I learned its based on a TV show called Twin Peaks-BUT I HATED THAT SHOW!!! Someone please set me on a good path again.
Congrats on your new Beast. Try:
Bioshock Infinite
Metro 2033
Metro: Last Light
Sleeping Dogs
Watch Dogs
Since you haven't played in 2 years:
Max Payne 3
Tomb Raider
BF 3
Those should keep you happy and busy for a little while. -

Never like advertising but for UK users BMAC with all the DLC for £4.00!!! (steam release) Worth a look at that price
Buy & download Batman Arkham City GOTY for £4.00 on PC and Mac
AO is more of the same but runs a little smoother.... -
Hi,
I'm looking for a co-op game to play with a friend of mine. She has an iGPU and probably a low end CPU (~4yrs old approx, budget HP).
Essentially I'm looking for a game she can run without endless framerate issues. I believe terraria ran fine as I heard no comments about it being laggy but we were unable to get multiplayer working (Possibly need to port forward? Idk).
Going off on a bit of a tangent there. Back on track now, if you have any games you can recommend which fit this category it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. -
Starbound is an obvious one, with gameplay similar to Terraria.
It's still in development (Steam Early Access) but dont let this put you off, in my opinion it is well supported and has a lot of content in place already.
The Torchlight series is a great hack 'n slash RPG which is easy to play and usually has hefty support for lower end systems (inc Notebooks) -
Try dishonoured, and skyrim. But if FPS is your thing, titanfall and planetside 2

People need to play NBA2K15 - Finally a good console port that plays well (after the recent patch) and has all the features nextgen has.
-
I just played through shadows of mordor , its like assasins creed with orcs. Awesome
-
I'm going to be buying a new gaming machine 980 or a sli setup, for working out at camp but there is no internet. What games should I grab? I like rpg games! I already have skyrim for 360. So don't need that. Nice graphics would be nice since its a new machine.
-
I highly recomment Ruins Escape for those who enjoy survival game, especially in postapocalyptic setting. The developers did a really good job making their graphics work for the dreary atmosphere of a zombie-haunted town. Really sends a shiver down your spine.
-
Witcher series is an obvious answer. The third installment is coming out in February and you bet it will sweat your new gear. Allegedly, it is one of the first games out there to fully benefit from quad - core CPU. Severe GPU requirements are redundant to mention.

I can't say enough about how awesome Smite is. 3rd person MOBA; I actually feel engaged. I go back to playing HotS (which I just received an alpha key for) and I can't even stay interested in it. The ability to see the world and actually "aim" makes it so much more enjoyable. Great game, decent community, and strong developer backing. Oh yeah, the recent world championship (the first one) was a 2.6million dollar prize-money event.

I don't know how anyone can trust Hi-Rez anymore after what they did to Global Agenda and Tribes: Ascend. Anyway, enjoy it while it lasts.Last edited: Feb 2, 2015

GA never took off, Tribes was good while it lasted. They abandoned both titles due to Smite actually making them money and holding a significant fan base. The MOBA craze is real and strong. I don't see this game going away anytime soon. People can ***** about Tribes, but the only people that cared about that game were people "in the know". It had a steep learning curve and was not very inviting to new players. The player base consisted of a lot of old-school folks who liked the nostalgia; it wouldn't have made it. We can disagree on this all day lol. Plus it seemed to have more "pay to play" bonus's, where Smite only offers you skins; nothing of any advantage. It wasn't enough of a staple, bottom line. I say all of this as an Alpha and Beta player, who was involved pretty heavily in the community.
-
I'm sorry, we're just gonna have to agree to disagree on this one.
"They abandoned both titles due to Smite actually making them money and holding a significant fan base. The MOBA craze is real and strong."
This is exactly why I have no respect for Hi-Rez. They acquired a preeminent FPS franchise, released one of the freshest shooters in years, barely supported it and then simply abandoned it at the drop of a hat for the low-hanging fruit that is the trite MOBA genre. If they won't support Tribes: Ascend, the least they could've done is release the map and mod tools so the dedicated community can fix their game and make the game the players want to play. That might've actually had a chance of reviving the game. But no, they wouldn't even throw us that bone, and now Tribes is dead once again for who knows how long. -
It wouldn't be dead if more people would have played it. Be mad at gamers, not Hi Rez. "Freshest shooters in years"... hardly. Sorry man, there's a reason it died and there's a reason games like CS:GO are still around.
-
You act like F2P games are not a two-way street.
I wouldn't expect a MOBA player to know the difference between Tribes and every other cookie-cutter FPS out there, since there's very little variation in your genre to begin with. -
Just got the new 2015 Razer Blade QHD+ and am looking for a great game. I usually play DOTA 2! Im gonna start playing League of legends.
I get dizzy playing some of the FPS, but I want something with beautiful amazing graphics. I was thinking of:
The Witcher 3 (when its out)
Skyrim 5
Dragon Inquisition
What do you guys think?
Thabks in advance. -

Sounds like a plan! Have you played Skyrim before? I can recommend some mods, here is one I made: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=91838362 -
I haven't but it sounds good. Is it visually stunning? How is it compared to shadow of mordor?

Console gamer switching to PC (hoping its not a bad move..haha).
COD veteran on XBox here. Looking for a quality online shooter for PC ...heard that COD is majorly hacked on PC so debating whether to get COD or BF4. I have a AW17 in prod right now (970M GTX) so hoping it's enough for 1080p gaming.Or Destiny ....though I played this on at a buddy's house and I didn't quite bond with it during the 1st hr ..too much of Halo feel and I never liked Halo...ever.
I love RPGs as well and will be picking up Dragon Age-Inquisition. -
If you haven't played the 2013 version of Tomb Raider, it's a good game and has good graphics. To top it off, it's $3.99 on Steam right now. I think $2 more gets you the GOTY edition with a bunch of DLC.

Shadow of Mordor is fun, but Skyrim is one of those very rare games you can keep playing for 500-1000 hours. It's certainly one of the greatest open world sandbox games and in my opinion it's the best game period. -
I hesitate between Arma 3 and Dragon Age. They are nearly at the same price and i will play both in the end, i just don't know which one i should buy first. My thought is to buy DA first because Arma's price can drop easier (steam you know ^^). Tell me if i'm wrong, or if you think Arma is way better (though they're not the same kind of game at all). By "better" i mostly mean a good lifespan and a fun gameplay (not too slow nor too long to learn).
Thanks! -
Someone please check this and guide me

Just try Arma 3 Altis Life mode and say goodbye to your social life

That looks fun ^^ (on youtube), I guess I'm gonna buy Arma
-
You'll be making the right choice
Altis Life is just the best roleplaying game I'v ever seen. Massive map and a lot of players. Also their sandbox mode which is called King of the Hill is very fun. Once you go Arma, you can't go back to BF

As someone that hasn't played any of the X-Com games, where should I start?
-
In terms of time consuming, it's up there. The actual content isn't necessarily engaging. It's an absolutely excellent game with an awesome community. It is probably the best open world adventure game, but not best overall game... The fact that it's in the discussion and not immediately dismissed definitely speaks for it though.

killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
X-Com Enemy Unknown/Within. Better grab with the expansion (Enemy Within) - it adds some things to campaign. -
I'm on it! Thanks for the suggestion.

2K Games have a sale on Steam right now, don't miss out on opportunity to grab XCOM for cheap! -
So I have a two year-old daughter, and another kid incoming any day now. Game playing is limited, obviously. But I get the chance every now and then (daughter is napping, or watching a cartoon). But I need games I play to be the type of games that I can pause/stop/exit at a moment's notice. So their save system must be the type that saves any time/anywhere (like the Mass Effect games, or Dragon Age).
I'm not really into FPS games. I like strategy/RTS games, and things like Diablo 3, Dragon Age, Mass Effect. I have Starcraft 2, and a collection of Command & Conquer games.
But I'm looking for newer games that will allow me to save the game anytime/anywhere. I simply don't want to be in a game where save points are pre-determined (such as Bioshock Infinite). -
Have a look at Valkirya Chronicles! it's a Japanese RPG... I think you might like it.. It's broken down into short chapters and you can easily save after each one.. It usually goes on sale in humble bundle.. It's kind of a RPG/RTS game... HFM gifted it to me after I won a competition and I've really enjoyed it.. I had seen the anime based on it earlier though

Gods, you should start with Xcom: UFO Defense by Microprose from back in the old days. Only problem with it is that you're going to start hating modern game-design afterwards. So maybe it's actually best to play everything else first, before Xcom.
Should be an in-game save you can use during the player turns as well. ..Well written game, too. Not really like much else in the jrpg shelf. Very few pink-haired girls. Movement is a bit abstract, but it was a very successful way to splice turn-based strategy with real-time elements, without losing the strategic depth.TomJGX likes this. -
I'm thinking of getting Borderlands 2, but it seems to be made for Co Op. How is it if you're playing it solo?
-
The Xbox simply doesn't do Skyrim justice. I'd say it's worth picking up again for PC - mods can literally add hundreds of hours of extra gameplay, offering new fully-fleshed out stories and quests, some of them even adding cities. Not to mention that graphics mods make it easily the best looking game right now (and probably for a while to come).
-
The big problem I have with all those ZOMFG SKYRIM BEST-LOOKING GAME 3VAR screenshots featuring a bajillion graphical mods is just that. They're only screenshots. What those people don't tell you is the game isn't playable in that state. They never show you an FPS counter or the OOM crashes out the wazoo.
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
If you mod it carefully it won't crash...much. For me Skyrim was the most stable Bugthesda game -
I venture to say that my Skyrim looks quite good. Granted, I run at 1366x768 to get framerates of 45+, but keep in mind I have a GTX 760M. Stoop14 said he was considering a 980 or SLI setup. With that you could easily run my Skyrim at 1440p and even add many extra mods.
Also, there are mods that add sections to the map and even entire stories to the game.
