Have you tried "Alien Breed: Impact"? It has a Co-op mode and you can check out the game through its free demo. I'll leave the link to the game on Steam. It should run nicely on your system.
Another possibility is "Booster Trooper". Looks like a meat fest xD.
Both of them have "group pack", so you cna buy them for cheaper with your friends.

I'm embarrassed to say that last month I went back to the beast (WoW), and I'm already quitting again, for the 4th time and most definitely my last.
Things that disgust me about WoW: instanced pvp, different pvp and pve gear based on pve/pvp grinding, bop, boe to an extent (would still be able to deal with this if the rest of the game was good), constant limited grinding (having to grind badges, but only a certain amount per day), lack of world pvp, only having a goal of gearing up from one dungeon to the next, lack of end game content (there's no reason to play except to raid the newest instance once a week), no reason to explore anything or do any kind of world content.
So I'm looking for something with fast paced/rewarding pvp, minimal grinding requirements, preferably good and non-cartoony graphics, open world environment with minimal instances, and a player based economy.
What I've played/playing: Eve (currently "playing" by sitting in a station waiting for skills...have lost most interest in this game), Global Agenda (really enjoy this game, but feel that it fits more of the shooter genre than rpg and doesn't fill my rpg fix), WoW, Aion (too much grinding and the pvp was irritating), Guild Wars (too old now), Everquest II (did not enjoy). -
Can someone recommend a space exploration game? Something like the very very old Elite series, preferably with all of the following features:
- open-ended gameplay (even if there is a plot)
- ability to make a living in several ways, like bounty hunting, randomly generated missions, trading, mining, etc...
- ship customization, from different hulls to different weapons, engines, etc
- wingmen
- fleet management
I've heard about the X series, is this a good shot? Any other games? -
You already named/play the big ones... wait for guildwars 2 maybe
What you want doesn't exist yet sadly - combining wow vanilla, guildwars and eve. -
Ah, that's kind of disappointing. I thought Mortal online was going to be good for me, but I'm only reading bad things about it and hear it's extremely buggy. I'm not willing to drop $50 + subscription for a game like that.
Currently I'm waiting for Earthrise, which looks pretty promising.
What's sad is that I really liked the game style of Runescape, but the combat and graphics were/are horrid, not to mention there was tons of grinding. Where most of the good items are player made, you have to complete certain goals to use high level items, hardcore (but optional) pvp, arena dueling for rewards, and items that degraded over time. -
If you're looking for something that's much more light-weight, then I'd suggest the Space Rangers series ( Space Rangers 2: Reboot on Steam). They're much more light-hearted, and use a top-down view rather than the first-person used in the X series. Still a very full-featured game, but the focus is more on building up your character and ship rather than a star-spanning financial empire. There's also a great deal of humor in the Space Rangers games.
So yeah, both very good series with X being more "hardcore" and Space Rangers 2 being a bit more "casual." There's my two cents.
EDIT: Just read that the Space Rangers series has been compared to the Elite series you mentioned. I guess that answers your question a bit more
EDIT #2: So I'm doing a bit of spring cleaning and I came across my copy of X3: Reunion, if you're interested in buying it. -

If you're willing to give free2play a try, you could check out Atlantica or Grando Espada.
In Atlantica, you can control up to 9 characters at the same time. It doesn't really require that much grinding, and is more strategy based than most mmos due to its turn based play (think Final Fantasy I-X).
Granado Espada allows you to control 3 characters at the same time, and is real time. You can also recruit npcs in the game, but your solo party can only be 3 chars.
Both of these games can be soloed, so you don't have to wait hours for a party then discover your healer sucks.
Also, an upcoming game, Vindictus, looks promising. The battle system and environmental factors look great, but I don't know much more about it. -

There is no such thing as a good MMORPG.
-

Neverwinter Nights is an old but still good game. There are several mods of the game that have very different character. From hack and slash to legitimate role playing, you should be able find something you like.

Lord of the Rings Online is decent. It is moving to F2P which is even better. I always maintained that LotRO was/is better than WoW. I played WoW for three years. Quit once motorcycle mounts were introduced in one of the expansions. Motorcycles!!!
Age of Conan might be worth considering. I thought it sucked @ launch and quit playing after 3 months. But with the new expansion, Rise of the Godslayer, it's *reportedly better*. I myself might give it a revisit.
Star Trek Online seems to be a 50/50 split as far as it being good or not. Read their forums. I played the beta. I liked it but felt it needed some more work to make it entertaining for a long period of my commitment. I bought the game @ launch but have never started it yet.
Champions Online if you're into spandex-ladened superheroes. Toons are highly customizable and the missions are engaging. I only subscribed to it to get into the STO beta since it's developed by the same folk. I no longer play CO tho'.
I personally think EVE is still the best MMO out there as far as depth, community, and CCP's dedicated involvement in improving and continuously updating the game. It'll be interesting to see how the game progresses once the console tie-in game Dust 514 is thrown into the mix.
I guess try one of the ones listed in these replies or visit mmorpg.com for others. Or wait for Star Wars Online The Old Republic which I guess might be the next big title. I don't have high expectations for it tho'. I signed up for a possible chance at beta on Fallout Online, which if it ever does happen, could be the bomb! (no pun intended)
-
I realize I'm asking a lot out of a game, but I've been browing mmorpg for the past week looking for something decent and there really only seem to be 2 types of games being produced: Eastern style F2P grinders with a ridiculously overpriced shop (that's pretty much required to be any good) or WoW clones.
I'd just like to see something different for a change. And as far as EvE goes I love everything about the game except the combat which is incredible weak and the skill system which is tedious because I've been skilling up for 7 months now just to be able to properly fit a battleship, and am still about a month off. -
I'm in the same boat. WoW is just getting too easy, and has a lack of things to do, which they limit how often you can do. I still play, but rarely now. When my new laptop arrives wednesday, I will be trying the trial version of Age of Conan. It looks fun, and seems like something I would be interested in.
-
I remember playing LotRO back in the pre-release beta years ago...I genuinely considered the "Founder's Benefit" option, which would basically allow me to purchase the game for a one-time fee of $120 US, and then never have to pay the monthly fee ever. After trying WoW and others a few times, I regret not jumping on that deal when I had a chance. -
Decided to give Battle of the Immortals a try. I used to love Diablo II. I know this doesn't really meet what I'm looking for, but it'll be a good filler until I find something better. Plus it's free.
I should probably finish FF XIII sometime too, lol. -
LOTRO Goes Free to Play!
You can sign up for the beta now, which I have, but haven't gotten an invite yet. This is going to be my first ever true MMORPG... lol -
To add to the list, what about dungeons and dragons online.
-
i feel yur pain, buddy.
i've been waitin for an MMO/MMORPG to replace the original Ultima Online days, but have fallen short way too many times. i simply stopped tryin to look.
i still haven't even really touched my dragon age, bayonetta, darksiders, and final fantasy 13 yet. they're basically still sittin in their plastics lol. -
Final Fantasy XIV should be coming out this year.

Yes, why WOW ever introduced motorcycles is beyond me. I would love a game with the depth and features of good old Ultima Online just with a better interface and up to date graphics. So far I have not found that yet. Thinking of quiting WOW again and so are my friends and family. After 80 is SOO boring now, I can't even stand to PVP
Also, I am now considering going back to Age of Conan again for a try. Maybe see if Vanguard is any good or still horrible. I still own copies of LOTRO and Warhammer Online, so when LOTRO goes F2P I might try again. Anyone trying out any of these let me know how they have improved/gotten worse since the initial release.
I also had a Star Trek Online account for about 2-3 weeks but I just couldn't get into it like I thought I would. -

The Mass Effect collection is on sale on Steam until tomorrow 10 A.M. Pacific Time. Other titles can be had in packs that will greatly reduce price.
If you have any other question, feel free to ask. Hope this helps! -
Because the Devs have stopped developing worthwhile content. If its fun for the game, theyll do it. Even if it destroys the game. -

Yeah. I want to continue the Half Life series too. And I'm pretty sure we're not the only ones.
Wishful thinking... -
Arondel you missed out Portal 2 from your list. How could you?

On the other hand, the HL2: Ep3 "teaser" has been deemed unofficial and false by Gabe (we're on a first name basis xD).
@Mangosango: Although it's been some time, I've given you rep for the Dragon Age: Origins video. I had to "spread it around" before giving it to you again. Thanks a lot for taking your time to make it. It's been very helpful.
@everybody else: If you guys are considering buying a notebook with a GPU in the performance area of the NVidia GT 330M, I recommend taking a look at Mangosango's post. It's a keeper. http://forum.notebookreview.com/5986590-post449.html -

In "Can My Notebook Run It?" people sometimes ask about games that have been announced or teased but nothing else. Given the lack of information about the game, they get the universal "It's not even out yet!" response xD. In my experience (and this may differ from others' experiences), these are the type of games (based upon release):
-the ones that have been released (Doom 3, Team Fortress 2, Sins of a Solar Empire, etc.)
-the ones that we have no idea about and/or are a bit more than mere wishful thinking (HL2: Ep3 would be one of them)
-the ones that we now exist (because of previews or teases) but don't have pretty much anything else to go by (Portal 2, Diablo III)
Note: Starcraft 2 hasn't been officially/commercially released but the beta was pretty big and I believe we have a pretty good idea on how well (or not) in runs on different hardware specs.
I hope I've made my point clear (one can agree or not, that's another story). If I didn't, my apologies for the long read. Whatever the outcome though, I've had a good laugh and hope you have too (by "you" I refer to you, the reader, not specifically Cakefish, who I quoted). Really enjoy being part of the community here (although I don't post that often as others).
Cheers! -
Im not one to condone piracy, but even maybe putting on M.A.M.E. Emulator on this list, old school arcade games are still super fun, even more so when you have 2 hori usb arcade sticks

Whats a good car simulator thats similar to Gran Turismo 5 on pc?? I figure I'll end up getting GT5 anyways but just like to keep my options open. Oh and ive played a bit of the stories in halo 1 and 2 and 3, but never finished them, is halo 3 gonna be released on PC at some point in time? -

FINISH THE FIGHT!!!! Ive really never been a halo fan but I wont be a basher until I play all of it.

I'm looking to buy Mass Effect 2 on Steam (I know I missed the sale
). A lot of people are saying that people who haven't played the first should, because it affects the events in the second. I'm wondering, is it worth it to drop $20 on the first game? I remember the console version of the game being very glitchy. I've played the Mass Effect 2 demo on my laptop and it runs silky smooth at very good settings. Is Mass Effect 1 just as well optimised? So, 2 questions:
Should I buy the first before the second?
and
Is the first well optimised or does it have any issues? -
It's also based on the same UE3 engine so it should perform just as well (and from my observations it does play just as smoothly as ME2). -
-
Do you, by any chance
, happen to have a list of multiplayer (run my own server) games. Looking for anything that runs of medicore rigs as my gaming buddies do not have latest components.
Thanks -
), Starcraft, Unreal Tournament 2004 are some good ones.

I was doing some cleaning, and i came across my old copy of homeworld 2. Being a RTS fan, i played both homeworld games to death back when they came out, i like the whole idea of being able to move in a completely 3D space. Is there anything remotely like those games that came out recently?

I just ordered a customized Asus G73 and wanted some info on games. I have been gaming since Nintendo to now the PS3, however never really gamed on the CPU besides the Civilization Series. I see that first-person games are of utmost popularity lately, however I am not to fond of them. I was wondering if you guys had any insight on some good strategy-RPG like games for my new laptop. I'm a newb at computer gaming, would like some advice in picking up a few games for my new laptop to hold me off until CIV V's release in late September. I love historical games, thinking games, puzzles, strategy, etc.
By the way I have searched Gamestop and Steam, however still can't find anything that catches my eye.
Thanks in advance.
